Description

The present invention relates to a method for producing hollow profiles Extrusion of an aluminum alloy containing more than 10 wt .-% Si.

It is known to produce hollow profiles or tubes by extrusion. Such hollow profiles can have one or more hollow chambers. In the selection of for extrusion suitable materials are limited. For example, aluminum in a purity from 99 to 99.9% by weight and alloys of the types AlMgSi 0.5, AlMg1, AlCuMg1 are e.g. especially suitable for processing in extrusion processes.

Solche Hohlprofile dienen im wesentlichen zur Leitung von Kühlmittel in Wärmetauschern.US 4,313,327 describes the production of hollow profiles containing several tubular ones Flow channels, through extrusion of aluminum alloys, the partition passage openings connecting the channels between two adjacent flow channels having. Such hollow profiles are used essentially to guide coolant in heat exchangers.

In practice, there is a need for high-strength and in particular high-silicon ones To have available aluminum alloy shaped bodies of the type mentioned at the outset, these moldings also have large cross-sectional areas with respect to the material. Until now, such moldings have been produced in particular by casting.

The object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing hollow profiles Type mentioned at the beginning with low porosity made of high silicon aluminum alloys to provide, which makes it possible to create such hollow profiles in a simple, fast and inexpensive to manufacture in one operation.

According to the invention, this is achieved in that a press bolt from a Aluminum alloy, which is one of the types AlSi12, AlSi18, AlSi16, AlCuMgSi15-19, AlMgCuSi15-19 or AlFeMgCuSi15-19 belongs to a temperature of 300 to 500 ° C brought and by extrusion at a pressure of 30.3975 to 354.6375 bar to hollow profiles, containing at least one cylindrical tread in the form of a shaped tube, is processed, the profile speed is 0.5 to 12 m / min.

Such hollow profiles can, for example, shaped tubes, such as simple shaped tubes or shaped tubes with outside profiling. However, hollow profiles with at least two are preferred Chambers in the form of at least two coaxially connected, connected molded tubes or also of three or more connected, linked together Molded pipes. These hollow profiles can also have an outer profile.

Accordingly, the hollow profile can, for example, at least two and suitably two to eight, preferably two to six and in particular four cylindrical treads in the shape of lined up, connected shaped pipes included.

Typical wall thicknesses of the shaped tubes can be, for example, 5 mm to 15 mm, expediently 7 to 13 mm and preferably 8 to 12 mm. On the intermediate webs between the molded tube parts the material thickness can be from 5 to 30 mm, expediently from 7 to 26 mm and preferably 8 to 24 mm. The diameter of the hollow chambers can be, for example, 4 to 12 cm, suitably 6 to 10 cm and preferably 6 to 8 cm.

In the case of hollow profiles which can be produced by the method according to the present invention, the cross-sectional area of the material, ie the aluminum alloy, is at least 15 cm 2 per shaped tube or. cylindrical tread.

If the hollow profile produced according to the invention has, for example, two to six cylindrical running surfaces in the form of connected molded tubes which form a multi-chamber hollow profile as an extruded body, the cross-sectional area of the material, ie the aluminum alloy, can be, for example, 30 cm 2 to 240 cm 2 .

Particularly preferred is a method for producing hollow profiles and in particular multi-chamber hollow profiles, the four chambers, respectively. have four cylindrical treads. The cross-sectional area of the material of the hollow profile can be, for example, 75 to 120 cm 2 .

The cross-section of the cylindrical running surfaces is preferably round or approximately round, i.e. slightly oval.

An aluminum alloy is used as the material or material for pressing into hollow profiles containing more than 10% by weight of Si, aluminum alloys containing 12 expedient up to 22% by weight silicon and aluminum alloys containing 16 to 18% by weight Silicon are preferred.

Accordingly, aluminum alloys containing high silicon and in particular eutectic are preferred and hypereutectic silicon alloys.

AlSi12, AlSi18, AlSi16, AlCuMgSi15-19, AlMgCuSi15-19, AlFeMgCuSi15-19.
The following types of preferred aluminum alloys can be mentioned by way of example:
AlSi12, AlSi18, AlSi16, AlCuMgSi15-19, AlMgCuSi15-19, AlFeMgCuSi15-19.

Aluminum alloys in which the silicon particle size is smaller are also preferred are larger than 200 µm and in particular 5 to 80 µm.

Aluminum alloys are preferred which only contain traces of copper, or copper accompanying impurity, or contain a copper content of 0.001 to 1.5 wt .-%.

The method according to the invention is carried out in such a way that the alloy is produced and is usually poured into the form of an ingot and optionally annealed.

The cast ingot can then be split into press studs, and the press studs can if required to be turned off.

The extrusion process can be direct extrusion, indirect extrusion or a related extrusion process can be used, the direct extrusion with a chamber or bridge tool is preferred.

The extrusion process can be carried out with a profile speed of e.g. 0.5 to 12 m / min, expediently from 1 to 7 m / min and preferably at 1.5 to 5 m / min.

The temperature of the press bolts during extrusion can be, for example, 300 to 500 ° C and conveniently at 380 to 480 ° C.

Die Pressdrücke liegen bei 30,3975 bis 354,6375 bar (30 bis 350 kg/cm2), wobei 81,06 bis 283,71 bar (80 bis 280 kg/cm2) bevorzugt sind.The pressures are 30.3975 to 354.6375 bar (30 to 350 kg / cm 2 ), with 81.06 to 283.71 bar (80 to 280 kg / cm 2 ) being preferred.

After the extrusion process, the hollow profiles can be quenched if necessary, solution annealed, stretched, sawn, straightened and aged cold or warm.

The method according to the invention can advantageously be used for extruding hollow profiles such as Cylinder liners can be used.

The hollow profiles can e.g. as cylinder liners with at least one cylinder surface, expediently two to eight, advantageously two to six and in particular four cylinder running surfaces in piston engines, such as internal combustion engines with internal or external ignition, piston compressors, Steam engines, piston pumps, etc. are used.

If necessary, the hollow profiles can be subjected to further machining processes. For example, the cylinder surfaces of cylinder liners can be replaced by mechanical ones and / or chemical processes are processed. For example, the cylinder liners turned, ground, lapped or honed, or the cylinder surfaces can be exposed to a chemical process in which the surface aluminum layer removed by a few µm and the silicon crystals in the surface area partially exposed.

The hollow profiles can then be used, for example, as so-called wet cylinder liners in internal combustion engines be used. The hollow profiles are preferred for the production of Cylinder blocks used, the hollow profile an integrated part of the cylinder block represents. The cylinder block is made by gravity casting or by die casting, with the hollow profile cast around and in the cast metal, usually along the outer Side walls are embedded in whole or in part. This creates a cylinder block as a casting, the hollow profile produced according to the invention being cast in the casting forms dry cylinder liners. That which forms the further part of the cylinder block Cast metal is, for example, of the same or similar composition as that corresponding hollow profile.
