- the invention has for its object to design the device described above so that the explosive charge is protected from interference by external charges.
- the circuit of the explosive charge is automatically short-circuited if no mating connector is plugged into the connector.
- the explosive charge can then no longer be triggered by external charges.

- the short-circuit element When the mating connector is removed from the connector, the short-circuit element follows the movement of the mating connector because of its shape and spring force. It then short-circuits the two connector pins in its rest position before the mating connector is completely removed from the same. This ensures that the explosive charge circuit is never open. It is either short-circuited or occupied by the mating connector.
- the short-circuit element also travels only a short distance between the rest position and the working position, so that its rapid effectiveness is guaranteed.

- the short-circuit element 11 is made of resilient metal, for example steel. In the open position of the plug 4 or the device shown in FIG. 2, the short-circuit element 11 is in its rest position, which it assumes due to its shape and its spring force. It protrudes by a shorter piece in relation to the length of the connector pins 7 and 8 into the space provided for the mating connector 5 and bears with its bends 12 and 13 against the connector pins 7 and 8.
- the plug pins 7 and 8 are short-circuited as well as the circuit of the explosive charge.
- the surfaces of the short-circuit element 11, which bear against the plug pins 7 and 8, can be gold-plated.
- the short-circuit element 11 is attached as shown in FIGS. 2 to 4 in a recess 14 of the plug 4 or the insulating body 6.
- the recess 14 has an opening which lies between the connector pins 7 and 8.
- the recess 14 is flared by two bevels 15 and 16, which serve as contact surfaces for the bends 12 and 13 of the short-circuit element 11.
- a stop 17 for limiting the movement of the short-circuit element 11 to the outside is attached in the recess 14. As a result, it is held captively in the plug 4.
- the short circuit of the plug pins 7 and 8 remains until the short-circuit element 11 is moved out of its rest position by the mating connector 5.
- the mating connector 5 is plugged onto the connector pins 7 and 8 to establish the conductive connection between the explosive charge 1 and the current source 3. Its contacts - for example sockets - are already in contact with the plug pins 7 and 8 before the end face 18 of the mating connector 5 touches the short-circuit element 11. This position is shown in Fig. 3.
- the conductive connection between connector 4 and mating connector 5 is thus already established before the short-circuit element 11 is moved.
- the short-circuit element 11 When the mating connector 5 is then brought into its end position, which can be seen in FIG. 4 and corresponds to the closed position of the device, the short-circuit element 11 is moved into its working position in which it no longer has any contact with the connector pins 7 and 8. Its bends 12 and 13 slide along the slopes 15 and 16 of the recess 14 so that the short-circuit element 11 is compressed against its spring force. It automatically slips back into its rest position shown in FIG. 2 as soon as the mating connector 5 is pulled out of the connector 4 and thus removed from the connector pins 7 and 8. The short-circuit element 11 travels a very short distance. It is already back on the connector pins 7 and 8 before the mating connector is removed from the same.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a device for connecting an explosive charge which can be triggered by electrical current to a power source, in which a two-wire electrical line is connected to the explosive charge, on the end of which is remote from the explosive charge, a plug having two plug pins running parallel to one another is attached to the a mating connector is inserted in the closed position of the device, while the connector pins are free of the mating connector in the open position of the device.
Such a device is used, for example, to trigger the explosive charge for the so-called "airbag" of motor vehicles, which if necessary leads to the sudden inflation of the impact bag accommodated in the steering wheel of a motor vehicle. For repair purposes and maintenance work, it may be necessary to disconnect the connection between the explosive charge and the power source. To do this, the mating connector is removed from the connector that is attached to the line of the explosive charge. Due to the then open end of the line, there is a risk that the explosive charge is triggered accidentally and uncontrollably by external charges. That cannot happen.
The invention has for its object to design the device described above so that the explosive charge is protected from interference by external charges.
- that a short-circuit element made of resilient metal is attached in the area between the two connector pins and is arranged in the connector so as to be movable in the direction of the axis of the connector pins between a defined rest position and a working position,
- that the short-circuit element in its predetermined shape and spring force, corresponding to the open position of the device, rests on both connector pins in the space provided for the mating connector in the closed position of the device by a shorter distance in relation to the length of the connector pins and
- that the short-circuit element is arranged in its working position, bearing against the end face of the mating connector located in the closed position of the device, without touching the connector pins in the connector.
In this device, the circuit of the explosive charge is automatically short-circuited if no mating connector is plugged into the connector. The explosive charge can then no longer be triggered by external charges. This is achieved by the short-circuit element arranged in the plug, which then short-circuits the two plug pins due to its shape and its spring force if the mating plug is not or at least not completely plugged onto the plug. The short-circuit element is only moved out of its rest position by the mating connector when its contacts are already in contact with the connector pins. In the working position, the short-circuit element is pushed back so far into the connector that it no longer touches the connector pins. When the mating connector is removed from the connector, the short-circuit element follows the movement of the mating connector because of its shape and spring force. It then short-circuits the two connector pins in its rest position before the mating connector is completely removed from the same. This ensures that the explosive charge circuit is never open. It is either short-circuited or occupied by the mating connector. The short-circuit element also travels only a short distance between the rest position and the working position, so that its rapid effectiveness is guaranteed.

The short-
The short-
The short circuit of the
When the
