Abstract
The present invention relates to a safety blind (1) provided with a cremone bolt or handle (15) and side opening hinges (7) made of aluminium section members adapted to support metal slates (16) and including inner armoring foils (17) made of steel or other high strength materials.
The section members (3) form a perimetrical construction which supports a plurality of slates (16), made of aluminium and including inner armoring foils (17).
Description
- The present invention relates to a safety blind provided with a cremone bolt or handle and side opening hinges, made by using particular aluminium section members adapted to support metal slates, in particular having either a fixed or a variable orientation and provided with inner steel armoring foils.
- As is known, there are already commercially available safety blind, to be applied to windows or window bearing frames, generally of the type supporting fixed slanting slates.
- At present these prior blinds are made of wood, P.V.C, aluminium or sheet metal constructions and have a reduced strength in particular against tampering.
- Thus, the aim of the present invention is to overcome or solve the drawbacks and problems thereinabove mentioned, by providing a safety blind provided with a cremone bolt or handle and side opening hinges, made of particular perimetrical aluminium section members which has a high strength against tampering is adapted to replace the iron blinds and filter in a desired and variable degree the outer light.
- Within the scope of the above mentioned aim, a main object of the present invention is to provide such a safety blind which in its perimetrical construction is provided with inner armoring foils made of steel or other high strength materials.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide a safety blind the slates of which can be variously slanted or tilted so as to differently filter the outer light.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide such a safety blind which, owing to its constructional features, is very safe in operation and can be easily made starting from easily available elements and materials.
- Yet another object of the present invention is to provide such a safety blind which is very competitive from a mere economic standpoint.
- According to one aspect of the present invention the above mentioned aim and objects, as well as yet other objects, which will become more apparent hereinafter, are achieved by a safety blind provided with a cremone bolt or a handle and with side opening hinges, made of specifically designed aluminium section members characterized in that said safety blind comprises a plurality of aluminium section members provided with inner armoring foils made of steel or other high strength materials which form a perimetrical construction supporting a plurality of slates made of aluminium and provided with inner armoring foils.
- Further characteristics and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent hereinafter from the following detailed disclosure of a preferred, though not exclusive embodiment of a safety blind according to the invention, which is illustrated, by way of an indicative but not limitative example, in the figures of the accompanying drawings, where:
- Figure 1 is a perspective and partially cross-sectioned view of the subject safety blind the perimetrical aluminium section members and slates of which are provided, in their inside, with steel armoring foils
- Figure 2 is a vertical cross-sectional view of the top portion of the blind with the fixedly oriented section members and slates both provided with steel armoring foils
- Figure 3 is a vertical cross section view of the bottom portion of that same safety blind illustrated in figure 2;
- Figure 4 is a cross sectional view of the construction, provided with bottom armoring foils, which supports the slanted fixedly oriented slates;
- Figure 5 is a horizontal cross-sectional view illustrating the procedure for connecting to the section members the slates, provided with armoring foils;
- Figure 6 is a vertical cross-sectional view of the variable orientation armored slates, shown in their closed condition;
- Figure 7 is a vertical cross-sectional view of the same variable orientation slates of figure 6, illustrated in an open condition, which has been obtained by causing said slates to partially rotate through 45° with respect to an inclination of about 15°;
- Figure 8 is a horizontal cross-sectional view of the safety blind according to the present invention provided with side hinges for opening said safety blind
- Figure 9 is a horizontal cross-sectional view of that same safety blind provided with an inner opening cremone bolt or handle
- Figure 10 is a cross-sectioned side view illustrating a detail of an armored slate for a safety blind;
- Figure 11 illustrates a constructional modification of figure 5 and
- Figure 12 illustrates a modification of figure 8.
- With reference to the number references of the above mentioned figures, the safety blind according to the present invention, which has been generally indicated at the reference number 1, comprises a
perimetrical construction 2 formed byaluminium section members 3 of different shapes and provided with abutment seals or gaskets. - The main feature of these section members is that they are provided with
armoring foils 4 7 preferably made of steel or other high strength materials, which have been suitably fitted in seats orrecesses 5 provided in the inside of said section members. - In particular, the
seats 5 are arranged near that portion of the blind which is outwardly turned, as clearly shown in figure 1. - In another preferred embodiment it is possible to engage additional armoring foils also in seats provided near the portion of the blind facing inwardly.
- The assembling of the above disclosed safety blind 1 in a suitable recess provided in the room wall, which also constitutes the housing of the window, involves the use of further
aluminium section members 6 provided in their inside with armoringfoils 4 which are suitably anchored to the top and bottom side walls of said recess and operate as a support for the above mentioned construction. - In particular, the
construction 2 is provided with a plurality ofside hinges 7 which allow the rotary movement for opening and closing the safety blind 1. - Said
hinges 7, which are provided withpivot pins 8, which in turn are suitably locked so that can not be withdrawn, are connected to theperimetrical construction 2 by means of suitable connectingscrews 9, while being anchored to thealuminium section members 6, arranged along a perimetrical or side wall of the above mentioned recess. - More specifically, the
hinges 7 are anchored by connectingscrews 10 tolight alloy blocks 11, which are so designed as to present a L-shaped cross-section, provided inside saidside section members 6. - A main feature of the
latter section members 6 is that they are provided, in their inside, with additional lightalloy compensating elements 12. - The latter are affixed to said
blocks 10 engaged insteel plug members 13. - These plug or
pin members 13 as is shown in figure 8 are introduced into the concrete wall by passing through false frames of L shape made of steel and suitably embedded in said concrete material by using safety affixing brackets. - Moreover, the above mentioned
perimetrical construction 2 is provided, on the side surface opposite to that thereon there are provided the mentioned hinges, with a cremone bolt orhandle 15, adapted to perform the opening and closing of the blind 1. - The
perimetrical construction 2 constitutes the supporting element for a plurality ofslates 16 made of aluminium. - Each
slate 16 has the feature that it is provided in its inside with anarmoring foil 17. - Moreover the subject safety blind can be constructed according to two preferred embodiments.
- More specifically, a preferred embodiment provides that the above mentioned slates can be also arranged, in a partially superimposed relationship, with a fixed orientation, usually slanted at about 15° with respect to the vertical direction.
- In particular, each
slate 16 will be affixed, by means of two pairs ofscrews 18 engaged at itsopposite ends aluminium supporting element 21 which can be introduced into aseat 22 of the same section member, as is shown in figures 4 and 5. - In this connection it should be pointed out that the
slates 16 are provided withinner cavities 40 in which can be engaged the armoring and reinforcingfoils 41. - The second preferred embodiment of the present invention provides slates which can be arranged with a variable orientation.
- In this embodiment, a shown in figures 6 and 7, each slate is affixed to the
aforesaid foil 21 by means of apin 23. - Said slates, accordingly can rotate with respect to this fulcrum, by performing a partial rotation through 45° with respect to the normal attitude which is tilted at 15°.
- Thus, there is the possibility of allowing the passing through light to be filtered or caused to pass through in an adjustable amount through the thus arranged slates constituting the subject safety blind.
- With reference to figure 10 there is herein shown a specifically designed
aluminium slate 16 which is provided with aninner cavity 5 provided with inwardly projecting ribs 5' which operate to hold perfectly arranged and guided the armoring foils 17inside the mentioned cavities of theslate 16. - With reference now to figure 11, there is herein shown an
armoring foil 16 affixed by means ofscrews 18 to a male shell 52 operating as an element for locking the above mentionedfoil 16. - In particular the male shell 52 is applied by means of
self threading screws 18 and a push fitting plate element. - Figure 11 also shows a wing section member 50 which is provided with cavities 51 in which can be engaged corresponding armoring foils.
- The above mentioned wing section member 50 is moreover provided with a screw 54 for locking a female shell 53 in turn provided with a handling pin element.
- Figure 11 shows furthermore a rod 55 which operates as a control element for the mentioned handling or driving pin.
- Figure 12 illustrates, on the other hand, a movable
wing section member 60 which is provided withcavities 4 in which can be engaged armoring foils. - Said movable-
wing section member 60 is applied to an arm 61 by means of ascrew 9 and is provided with a sealinggasket 62 which abuts against afurther section member 63 provided with a seat for a seal orgasket 64 which, in turn, abuts in the inside against the movable-wing section member 60. - Between the two
gaskets space 65 which is defined byseats 4, on the inside and outside, for housing corresponding armoring foils. - The thus made blind has the main feature that it is provided with section members adapted to house corresponding armoring foils which will reinforce said blind both in its inside and on its outside, in a perfectly continuous manner thereby providing said blind with a very high strength against possible tampering operations.
- With continuous reference to figure 12,there is clearly shown herein a
wall portion 66 to which there is fixedly connected ametal back frame 14 of substantially L shape. - In this metal backframe there is pressure fitted a plug element which, in particular is press engaged in a calibrated hole provided in said back-frame.
- To said
plug element 13 there is applied anextruded aluminium block 11 adapted to allow ahinge portion 14 to be locked to thewall 66. - Said extruded aluminium block is applied to the wall by means of a light alloy compensating element and a
screw 68 so as to provide a perfect locking and affixing of the hinge to the wall. - The
slates 16 are provided withhousing seats 42 in which there are engaged gaskets orseals 43 which are provided with projectinglugs 44. - The latter, as they are arranged among the
slates 16 of the blind, will shut off to the light the blind as desired by the user. - The above mentioned gaskets furthermore, as the blind slates are arranged in their closure positions; will also provide a great thermal and acoustical insulation.
- From the above disclosure it should be apparent that the invention fully achieves the intended aim and objects.
- The invention as disclosed is susceptible to several variations and modifications all of which will come within the scope of the invention.
- Moreover all of the details can be replaced by other technically equivalent elements.
Claims (15)
- A safety blind provided with a cremone bolt or a handle and with side opening hinges, made of specifically designed aluminium section members, characterized in that said safety blind comprises a plurality of aluminium section members, provided with inner armoring foils made of steel or other high strength materials which form a perimetrical construction supporting a plurality of slates made of aluminium and provided with inner armoring foils.
- A safety blind according to the preceding claim, characterized in that said armoring foils are engaged in seats provided inside said section members and near a portion of said blind outwardly facing.
- A safety blind according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that, in a preferred embodiment thereof, additional armoring foils are engaged in seats provided near that portion of said blind which is inwardly turned.
- A safety blind, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said perimetrical construction is provided with a plurality of side hinges,provided with respective pivot pins, which are suitably locked so as that can not be withdrawn.
- A safety blind, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said hinges are affixed to said perimetrical construction by means of affixing screws and are anchored, by further affixng screws, to light alloy blocks having a L shaped cross-section and provided inside said section members and being anchored to the side portion of the recess housing said safety blind.
- A safety blind according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said side section members are provided in the inside thereof with light alloy compensating elements affixed to said blocks, in particular fitted on steel plug elements which are embedded in the concrete wall by passing through false frames.
- A safety blind according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said false frames of L shape and made of steel are embedded in said concrete material of said wall by using safety bracket elements.
- A safety blind according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said slates are arranged with a partially superimposed pattern and with a fixed orientation usually slanted through about 15° with respect to the vertical direction.
- A safety blind, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that each slate is affixed at the ends thereof by using pairs of screws 90 as to anchor said slate to the armoring foil to be engaged in a seat formed in the same aluminium section member.
- A safety blind, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that, according to an embodiment, each said slate is connected to said armoring foil by a pin and is adapted to rotate, about said pin, by performing a maximum partial rotation of 45° with respect to said slanted inclination of 15° 7 said construction being further provided, on the side surface thereof opposite to that where are provided said hinges, with a cremone bolt or a handle for opening and closing said safety blind.
- A safety blind according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said safety blind is further provided with slates including seats for housing therein gaskets provided with projecting lugs.
- A safety blind, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said safety blind is provided with an aluminium foil provided with an inner cavity having inwardly projecting ribs.
- A safety blind, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said safety blind comprises aluminium foils which are connected, by screws, to a male shell which operates as a locking element for locking said foils, said male shell being applied by screws of a self-threading type and a fitting plate.
- A safety blind, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said safety blind in provided with a wing section member provided with cavities in which can be engaged respective armoring foils, said wing section member being provided with a screw for locking a female shell provided with a driving pin.
- A safety blind, according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said safety blind further comprises a movable-wing section member which is applied to an arm element by a screw and being provided with a sealing gasket which abuts against a section member which is provided with a seat for a gasket which, in turn, abuts, in the inside, against said movable-wing section member, said gaskets defining there between a space which is defined by seats for housing therein said armoring foils.
