Abstract
A blocking element is described which locks the housing of an electrical connector on a circuit board. This blocking element can be manufactured at low cost and provides a good electrical and mechanical connection between the housing and the circuit board. The locking element is designed to be pushed down into a cylindrical hole with flanges of the connector and into a cylindrical hole of larger diameter drilled in the circuit board. The blocking element is formed of a piece of sheet metal which is curved in order to form upper and lower tubular parts (40, 42) which are housed respectively in the rim hole and in the hole of the larger diameter card, the vertical edges of the curved sheet metal coming into contact with the walls of the hole. The blocking member has a pair of horizontal separation slots (76, 78) extending a limited distance from each vertical edge to separate the upper and lower portions, and to allow the marginal regions (86, 88 ) of the lower tubular part to bend over a larger radius of curvature so as to be able to engage the walls of the hole of larger diameter of the circuit board. A vertical middle part (62) of the blocking element has an outlet (60) projecting from the tubular part in order to center this lower tubular part in the hole of the circuit board. The lower tubular part forms a pair of fingers (56, 58) which are placed in the upper part of the hole in the circuit board and pressed against the lower surface of the housing flange. The conical lower parts of the blocking element have cracks forming gradients on which a brazing filler metal adheres, and in this way no extraction force can cause the compression of certain parts of the filler metal. soldering.
