- A device for scraping tobacco particles off a rod conveyor (3) of a cigarette making machine when a tobacco rod is transferred from the rod conveyor (3) into a garniture assembly (4), having a base body (19) for insertion into the cigarette making machine in the rod entry region of the garniture assembly (4), and a scraping edge (26) which may be positioned in a scraping position with respect to the rod conveyor (3), characterized in that the scraping edge (26) has, at least in its region cooperating with the rod conveyor (3) when the tobacco particles are scraped off, a very hard surface (27) formed by embedding at least one layer (27) of a fine-grained, abrasion-resistant material therein.
- A device according to Claim 1, characterized in that the scraping edge (26) is tipped with polycrystalline diamond.
- A device according to Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the scraping edge (26) is made of hard metal and is coated with polycrystalline diamond.
- A device according to one of Claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the scraping edge (26) is made of a hard ceramic material in the surface whereof polycrystalline diamond is embedded.
- A device according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that polycrystalline diamond particles are sintered on the surface of the scraping edge (26).
- A device according to one of Claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the base body (19) has a rod-guiding face (21) which, in the garniture assembly (4), is in alignment with a rod-guiding face (23) of an entry finger (7) in the running direction (11) of the rod, and forms a longitudinal portion of a rod channel (22) in conjunction with at least one further, opposing, rod-guiding face (12) of the garniture assembly (4, 6).
- A device according to Claim 6, characterized in that at least one layer of polycrystalline diamond is embedded in the rod-guiding face (21).
