Abstract

Prismatic units are described for use in advertising panels with rotating elements, which are constituted by a staight equilateral triangular structure formed, for each unit, by three mobile hollow prismatic modules in the form of a straight isosceles triangular prism. These modules are aligned side by side along the smaller lateral faces and are fixed with two stoppers which each have three graftable inserts at the two ends in the hollow parts of the said modules. On each stopper is a connection for linking it to the anchorage system on the panel frame or the device for transmission of the rotating movement of the various triangular prismatic units of the panel. The use of these modules allows rotating units to be prepared without an internal support and therefore is much simpler and cheaper than those currently available.

Description

  • This invention concerns a rotating unit having a prismatic structure with a triangular cross-section section, to be used for obtaining advertising panels.
  • Advertising panels with rotating elements are well known and available on the market.
  • These elements comprise three equal display sides with an elongated rectangular form, arranged in order to create a straight equilateral triangular prismatic structure. On each side a portion of a figure and/or wording is arranged which can be seen from outside the panel when all the elements are rotated contemporaneously.
  • Until some time ago, when a figure needed to be changed, it was necessary to glue each new portion onto the corresponding sides of the various rotating elements. Recently, in order to make this operation quicker and less complicated, elements with flat mobile plates were realised which could be fixed to a central support by means of devices of various natures, such as clips, sliding guides, etc. Being equipped with one or more sets of plates, it is easy to pre-attach the new figure and/or wording by means of self-adhesive means on the plates and then proceed very quickly to substitute them at the required moment. However this system of mobile plates, which can be fixed to a central support is not the optimum solution in terms of simplicity and economy.
  • This invention has the objective of resolving these latter problems.
  • In its general aspect this invention allows this objective to be obtained by realising rotatable prismatic units with a straight equilateral triangular structure by utilising, for each unit, three mobile hollow prismatic modules in the form of a straight isosceles triangular prism. These modules are set side by side along the smaller lateral faces and are fixed with two stoppers which each have three graftable inserts at the two ends in the hollow parts of the said modules. In each stopper there is a connection for fixing to the anchorage system on the frame or the transmission device for imparting the rotating movement of the various triangular units of the panel.
  • The use of these modules allows rotating units to be prepared without any internal support and, therefore is much more simple and less expensive than those currently available.
  • The structural and functional characteristics of the prismatic modules and the relative rotating units forming the object of this invention are evident from the following detailed description in which reference is made to the figures of the appended sheets of drawings and in which:
    • Figure 1 shows a perspective view of the three prismatic modules according to the present invention, positioned longitudinally and spaced apart;
    • Figure 2 shows a perspective view of the three elements arranged as in Figure 1, but set side by side in order to form a rotating prismatic unit;
    • Figure 3 shows a perspective view of one end of the rotating elements of Figure 2;
    • Figure 4 shows a perspective view of a stopper with three hollow inserts for fixing the modules and
    • Figure 5 shows a perspective view of a stopper with three solid inserts for fixing the modules.
  • With reference to the figures of the drawings, the mobile prismatic module forming the object of this invention is indicated generally with reference numeral 1 and has a hollow structure and a straight prismatic form with a cross-section in the form of an isosceles triangle, which comprises a larger lateral face 3 and two small lateral faces 4. Said lateral face 3 forms an angle of 30° with each lateral face 4. Consequently when three prismatic modules 1 are set longitudinally side by side along the lateral faces 4, a prismatic unit is obtained with a straight equilateral triangular form, which constitutes a rotating assembly for advertising panels.
  • Said module 1 has a profiling 5 of the angle comprised between two lateral faces 4, which has preferibly, but not exclusively, a form with a curved profile as in the figure. This profiling facilitates the alignment of the three side by side modules. The angles formed by the face 3 with each face 4 are, in general, slightly rounded and, preferibly with R = 0.1 - 0.3 on the outside and R = 0.2 - 0.4 on the inside of each module.
  • The hollow prismatic element according to the invention may be realised by using various hot-drawn metals, such as stainless steel, aluminium, anodised aluminium, plastified carbon steel or extrusions of various plastic materials and in particular PVC.
  • To fix the three juxtaposed modules and obtain a rotatable prismatic unit, two stoppers are used which can be grafted by force on the two ends of said unit. These stoppers, which are made of various plastic materials, have a triangular prismatic form and have three inserts which adjust themselves to the form of the slots of the said modules. These may be realised in the form 11, with hollow inserts 13 (Fig.4), or in form 11' with solid inserts 13' (Fig. 5). Between said inserts are spacings of equal width 14. When the stoppers 11 or 11' are applied, while the three inserts 13 or 13' penetrate the slots of said modules, the pairs of coinciding lateral faces 4 penetrate the spacings 14.
  • Said stoppers also have a base 15 which functions as the closure of the end of the rotating unit. United to this base is a connection 18 for fixing the rotating unit to the panel frame and connecting it with a gear device able to carry out the rotational movement of the various rotating units which make up the advertising panel.
  • This fixing and connection system with the device for transmission of the rotational movement are constituted by conventional means of known type and are therefore not described.
  • A slot 19 is present on each side of said base 15 and allows extraction of the three prismatic modules 1, using a suitable tool as a lever.
