Description

The present invention relates to a method for allocating carrier frequencies for transmission within a transmission network.

The invention applies in particular to tactical radio-relay systems, for which such an allocation is made particularly complex due to the extreme mobility of these networks.

In general, for such networks, such an allocation must be random in order to discourage any attempt at forecasting by the enemy. It is thus known to carry out, for any frequency to be allocated to a link between a transmission equipment located in one of the sites of this network and a reception equipment located in another site of this network, such allocation by drawing random in the set of carrier frequencies constituting the frequency resource available for this network, after having removed from this set the so-called prohibited frequencies for the link in question, due to internal constraints in this network due to the proximity of other equipment d 'transmission or reception, in the sites considered as well as in neighboring sites.

The essential drawback of such a method is that it leads in practice to so-called deadlock situations, where allocation requests cannot succeed.

The object of the present invention is to avoid such a drawback.

The subject of the present invention is a method of allocating carrier frequencies for transmission within a transmission network, in particular a tactical one, essentially characterized in that it comprises:
  • a division of all the carrier frequencies constituting the frequency resource available for this network, into lots of unequal importance,
  • an assignment to any site in the network, upon entry in the network, resulting in a request for frequency allocation for a link between this site and another site, known as the first connection site for the site in question, and prior to this allocation, from one of two states complementary possible, this state being chosen so as to obtain complementary states for the site considered and for its site of first connection, and being kept for subsequent links between the site considered and other sites of the network,
  • for any link to be established between two sites in this network, a frequency allocation by random draw in that of these lots which is of greatest importance, if the sites considered are in complementary states, or in that of these lots which is less important if the sites considered are in identical states.

  • la figure 1 est un diagramme destiné à illustrer l'étape du procédé suivant l'invention, suivant laquelle est effectué un découpage de la ressource en fréquences disponible pour le réseau considéré, en lots d'importance inégale;
Other objects and characteristics of the present invention will appear on reading the following description of an exemplary embodiment, made in connection with the attached drawings in which:
  • FIG. 1 is a diagram intended to illustrate the step of the method according to the invention, according to which a division of the frequency resource available for the network considered is carried out, into batches of unequal importance;
  • FIG. 2 is a diagram intended to illustrate the step of the method according to the invention, according to which an allocation is made from one of two complementary states to any site of this network,
  • FIG. 3 is a diagram intended to illustrate the internal constraints in the network, leading to the definition of so-called prohibited frequencies.

The diagram in FIG. 1 represents an example of a frequency resource available for a transmission network, this frequency resource being in this case formed by disjoint blocks on the frequency axis, as illustrated diagrammatically in the first line of this diagram where such blocks, by way of example of unequal width and in number equal to six, are identified respectively B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B6.

The second line of this diagram illustrates an example of the distribution of the frequencies of this resource in three batches of unequal importance, identified respectively A, B and C in order of decreasing importance.

For example, lot A could constitute 60% of the available resource, lot B, 30% and lot C, 10%. Other examples of distribution are of course possible.

In the example illustrated in FIG. 1, batch A is formed from blocks B1 and B2 and from part of block B3, batch B is formed from the other part of block B3, blocks B4 and B5, and part of block B6, and lot C consists of the other part of block B6. Other examples of distribution are of course possible.

These circles or these triangles (which will be grouped under the generic term of sites) are, for purposes of illustration of the process according to the invention, colored sometimes in black, sometimes in white, in the manner now described.

Any site for which a connection has not yet been established is seen, at the time of its entry into the network, that is to say at the time of a request for frequency allocation for a link between itself and another site, known as the first link site for the site in question, and prior to this allocation:
  • either arbitrarily colored (in black or white), if this other site is not itself already colored, this other site then seeing itself colored in opposite fashion,
  • be colored opposite to this other site if it was itself already colored.

Thus, as illustrated in this figure, during the deployment of the network, the different sites are colored step by step with two alternating colors, thus defining a set of links with alternating colors ("white-black" or "black-white").

For links of this type, the allocation of a frequency will be carried out by random drawing in lot A of greater importance.

A site colored in the manner indicated above also retains the color thus acquired for possible subsequent links between itself and sites other than this site of first connection. Under these conditions, it is possible that, as the network is deployed, to make connections between already colored sites, and this in an identical manner.

For these links, of the "white-white" or "black-black" type, statistically in a smaller number than the previous ones, the allocation of a frequency will be made by random drawing in lot B of lesser importance.

The random nature of the frequency selection is thus tempered by an initial deterministic classification of these frequencies. The semi-random nature thus obtained makes it possible to deal with the blocking situations mentioned above.

The constitution of a set of frequencies in reserve (lot C) eventually makes it possible to allocate, as a last resort, a couple of frequencies to a link for which a frequency could not have been allocated.

The random selection of the couple of frequencies necessary for the link thus colored, in the batch corresponding to said coloring, is carried out after having removed from this batch the so-called prohibited frequencies.

For a connection to be established, for example between a transmitter of site S1 and a receiver of site S2, the following frequencies may be considered prohibited, after checks:
  • a frequency allocated to the transmitter associated with the considered receiver of site S2,
  • a frequency allocated to a transmitter of site S2 other than that associated with the receiver considered,
  • a frequency allocated to a transmitter of site S1 other than the transmitter considered,
  • a frequency allocated to a transmitter of a site, such as S3, other than S1 and S2.

In FIG. 3 is shown diagrammatically in solid lines the connection to be established considered, and in dotted lines the possible interference with the prohibited frequencies.
