Description

The invention relates to a stackable plastic bottle crate according to the preamble of claim 1.

In the young generation of bottle crates, it has become customary to maximize the openings which are normally only present in the box side walls to form passage openings, so that the openings have a display function, that is to say the contents of the bottle can be recognized via the openings. This has the advantage that the bottle crates do not have to be printed separately with the information about the contents of the bottles, but rather the bottles themselves represent the advertising and information carrier with the label on the bottle belly. However, since the maximization of the openings in the box side walls is accompanied by a reduction in the stability of the bottle box, the display openings have been laterally limited by vertical support profiles which are in the plane of the bottle box side walls are trained. Furthermore, the corners of the bottle crates were designed as hollow profiles, so that the combination of these measures stabilizes the bottle crate despite relatively larger viewing and viewing openings in the side walls of the crate.

From document DE-A-27 40 871 a bottle crate made of plastic with four side walls and compartments arranged inside the bottle crate for receiving bottles is known, a web wall bridging the crate width and a central handle being provided. A stiffening of the bottle crate is to be achieved by the web wall bridging the crate width, so that it is not subjected to any deformation when stacked with great heights. This is achieved by an interaction of the web wall bridging the box width with the side walls or the ribs formed in the side walls, which leads to an increase in the overall rigidity of the box.

Document US-A-4 304 334 discloses a plastic bottle crate with hollow or profile-like support elements which connect the bottom of the crate to the upper edge of the crate in the area of the side walls and delimit the openings between them through which the received bottles are visible are. The load transfer in this box takes place primarily via these support elements arranged in the area of the side walls.

The object of the invention is to make itself independent of the structural specifications of support profiles and the like in the area of the display openings in terms of maximizing the display function of a bottle crate, that is to say in terms of maximizing the display openings, and thus to realize a bottle crate For the maximization of the display openings, the question of support elements is irrelevant. The bottle crate should be robust and stable and easy to manufacture.

This object is achieved according to the invention by the features contained in claim 1, expedient developments of the invention being characterized by the features contained in the subclaims.

According to the invention, there is a complete departure from the previous principle used in box construction of arranging stiffening profiles in the area of the box side walls by the support elements being moved out of the box side walls and placed directly into the box interior. The support elements are designed to transmit loads, so that they extend from the floor to or close to the upper edge of the box, which can sometimes be used for load transfer if necessary. By moving the support elements out of the side walls into the interior of the box, the design of the display opening is completely independent of stiffening elements, so that the display function is maximized. It was surprisingly found that by moving the support columns inwards, the bottle crate is sufficiently stable can be, even if the openings extend almost over the entire surface of the bottle crate. It is only important here that the support columns transfer the load in the stack. It is particularly expedient here for the support elements to be in the form of columnar hollow profiles, the support columns being furthermore integrated into the compartment walls in a particularly advantageous embodiment in that they are integrally connected to the compartment walls. The support columns are expediently located in the corners of the compartments, which has the further advantage that if the side surfaces of the support columns are adequately formed by curved surfaces, the columns also have a holding function for the bottles accommodated in the box. The bottle crate designed in this way is inexpensive both for offset stacking and for linear stacking of the bottle crates. These properties can be attributed to the surprising measure of moving the support elements carrying conventional bottle crates outside in the area of the crate side walls into the interior and preferably also linking them to the inner compartment walls. The previously quasi-outer truss is now shifted as a load-bearing element into the inside of the box, whereby the side walls of the box can be partially supported as required. This also makes it possible to minimize the thickness of the box side walls. The invention is equally applicable to high and low side boxes.

The plastic bottle crate shown in the drawing has a rectangular plan with two long and two narrow crate side walls. In the illustrated embodiment, an opening that is continuous over the length and height is formed in each of the box side walls as a so-called display opening 1, so that the bottle crate has a total of four display openings 1 over the entire circumference of the page. The size of the display openings 1 is maximized and limited on both sides only by the corner support profiles 2, at the top by the upper box edge 4 serving as a handle 3 and at the bottom by a narrow bottom web 5. Through these size-optimized display openings 1, the bottles in the box are readily visible from the outside, so that the contents of the box can be recognized solely from the label. This means that the bottles and not the bottle crate serve as advertising media and the information about the crate's contents does not have to be attached to the crate, but is delivered directly through the bottles that are visible from the outside.

For the stability of the bottle crate and for the load transfer in the stacked structure, structural elements are arranged within the bottle crate, which in the exemplary embodiment shown are formed as support elements in the form of columnar hollow profiles 6.

As can best be seen from FIG. 3, these columnar hollow profiles 6 are arranged at the corner points of four mutually abutting compartments 7a, 7b, 7c and 7d for receiving the bottle crates. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the columns 6 are formed in one piece with the inner compartment walls 8, the height of which is substantially less than the height of the load-transmitting columns 6. The columns 6 are expediently closed at 9 above, so that the upper end face serves as a contact surface for the load transfer in the stacked assembly with respect to the bottle crate above. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the column has a substantially diamond-shaped cross section, the side surfaces of the column 6, which are designated by 10, being adapted to the cylindrical bottle shape and thus serving as holding surfaces for the bottles accommodated in the box.

In the embodiment shown, hollow support profiles 11 are also formed in the box side walls, which have an essentially hexagonal cross section, but only extend a short distance beyond the base web 5 and merge into the compartment walls. The columns 11 contribute to the stabilization of the bottle crate, but do not interfere with the display function of the openings 1. As can best be seen from FIG. 1, the upper edge 12 of the compartment walls 8 runs obliquely upwards from the side wall into the interior, which, in conjunction with the lower supporting columns 11 in the side walls, specifically directs or directs the view inwards towards the bottles and thus onto the label attached to the bottle belly. If necessary, the support columns 11 can also be omitted.

In the illustrated embodiment, the upper contact surface 9 of the support columns 6 is slightly lower than the upper box edge designated 13 of the side walls of the bottle crate. This takes into account the fact that it is due to the weight of the boxes above in the stack there is a slight deformation of the bottle crate, so that the contact surfaces 9 are then used directly as support surfaces. In some cases, the box side walls can also be designed with stretches, the load then being introduced via the upper edge 13 of the box side walls in connection with the upper support surfaces 9 of the columns 6. In an alternative expedient embodiment, the height of the support columns 6 is equal to the height of the box side walls, so that the contact surface 9 of the support columns 6 is flush with the upper edge 13 of the box side walls.

In the illustrated embodiment, a high side box is described, but the concept presented can also be realized on low side boxes, where the box height is less than the height of the bottles accommodated in the box, so that the bottles normally participate in the load transfer. The support pillars 6 can then run with their contact surface essentially flush with the upper end of the bottles accommodated in the box, so that both the bottle and the support pillar are load-transferring. Alternatively, as in FIGS. 1 to 3, the upper contact surface 9 of the support columns 6 can lie slightly lower than the upper end of the bottles accommodated in the box, so that the bottles act load-transmitting first and from a certain deformation of the box bottom as a result of a high load above support the support columns 6.

Fig. 4 shows quite clearly that due to the inwardly shifted support elements for load transfer in different box orientation in the stack, the majority of the support columns each load-transferring. In this respect, regardless of the angular orientation of the stacked bottle crates, a quasi tower-like connection is ensured via the support columns.
