Abstract

The invention relates to a toe clamp (1) with a housing (2) in which is fitted a release spring (40). The release spring (40) bears on a tension rod (10) passing through it which acts via a release plate (13) on the shorter lever arms (36) of two angled levers (35) which can pivot on a bearing component (20) about vertical axes (34) and the longer lever arms of which take the form of sole retainers (37). The bearing component (20) has a through aperture (21) for the tension rod (10) and has a backwardly-directed projection (31) at its lower end section to bear the release plate (13). According to the invention, on the side towards the bearing component (20) at its lower section (14), the release plate (13) has a control surface (15) which extends upwards and forwards when viewed in longitudinal cross-section. The backwardly directed projection (31) of the bearing component (20) has contacts with the control surface (15) at least pointwise on the occurence of an upwardly directed force on the sole retainer (37).

Description

The invention relates to a toe piece according to the preamble of claim 1.

Such a front jaw is described for example in EP-A2-0408 855. In this known solution, the trigger plate is flat in the vertical direction. The bearing part has a rearward projection in its lower end section, which is used to abut the release plate.

This solution is indeed practicable, but it has been found that the flat design of the release plate with a vertical application of force led to a degressive release behavior of the ski binding.

The invention has set itself the goal of designing a front jaw of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that the triggering behavior of the ski binding is linear or slightly progressive.

According to the invention, this object is achieved by the characterizing features of claim 1. Characterized in that the release plate in its lower portion on its side facing the bearing part has a control surface and that the control surface - viewed in vertical longitudinal section - runs upwards and forwards, in cooperation with the rearward projection of the bearing part one for one linear or slightly progressive triggering behavior of the ski binding achieved a favorable course of the force action line.

Although the control surface could be designed as a flat surface to be increased towards the front, it has proven to be advantageous to make the control surface of the release plate continuously curved in accordance with the features of claim 2.

The configuration according to the characterizing part of claim 3 enables a compact structure of the ski binding and an improved diagonal release behavior.

In claim 4, a preferred embodiment of the control curve is protected.

Further advantages, features and details of the toe piece according to the invention will now be described in more detail with reference to the drawing. 1 shows a longitudinal section through the front jaw according to the invention in the ready-to-use position of the ski binding, FIG. 2 shows a detail of the front jaw cut along the line II-II of FIG. 1, FIG. 3 shows a representation similar to FIG. 2 with the side pivoted bearing part, Fig. 4 parts of the front jaw in longitudinal section in the state slightly pivoted upwards, Fig. 5 an illustration like Fig. 4, the sole holders being pivoted further upwards, and FIGS. 4a and 5a each show details of FIGS. 4 and 5 in larger scale.

It has a housing 2, which is fastened to a ski 50 by means of only indicated screws 51. In the housing 2, a release spring 40 is housed, the bias of which can be adjusted in a known manner by an adjusting device 43. The release spring 40 is arranged between a spring plate 41 and, with the interposition of a bearing bush 42, a vertically running rear transverse wall 3 of the housing 2. The release spring 40 is penetrated in the axial direction by a pull rod 10, one end 11 of which cooperates with the adjusting device 43 and the other end 12 of which is connected to a substantially vertically extending release plate 13. The release plate 13 has at its lower end 14 a control surface 15 which is to be described in more detail later and toward the ski tip and a stop 16 pointing towards the rear, that is to say in the direction of a shoe to be inserted.

A first curve 5 connects to the vertically running rear transverse wall 3 of the housing 2 and a section 6 running horizontally to the rear. On the rear side 4 of the rear transverse wall 3 of the housing 2, in the ready-to-use position of the front jaw 1, there is a bearing part 20 with its support wall 22. The bearing part 20 is from seen in the rear frame-shaped, ie provided for the tie rod 10 with a through opening 21, and - seen in side view - has approximately the shape of a C. The vertically extending section of the C is formed by the support wall 22 and is provided with a front support surface 23 and a rear Support surface 24 equipped. In the upper and lower legs 32, 33 of the C, two only indicated axes 34 for angle levers 35 are arranged symmetrically to the longitudinal central axis of the toe piece 2. The shorter lever arms 36 of the two angle levers 35 are supported on the one hand on the release plate 13 and on the other hand on the rear support surface 24 of the bearing part 20. The longer lever arms of the angle lever 35 are designed as sole holders 37 for the ski boot, not shown. The front support surface 23 of the bearing part 20 has two sections adjoining one another in the vertical direction, the lower section 25, viewed in the ready-for-entry position of the front jaw 2, abutting on the rear side 4 of the rear transverse wall 3 of the housing 2. The upper section 26 forms an obtuse angle a with the lower section 25. Between the upper section 26 and the lower section 25, the bearing part 20 has a tilting edge 27. The upper leg 32 of the bearing part 20 is provided in the region of the longitudinal central axis with a surface 28 which is inclined towards the rear and downwards. The transition between the upper section 26 of the front support surface 23 and the surface 28 which is inclined backwards and downwards is designed as a further curve 29. In its lower section, the bearing part 20 is fork-shaped in the area of the longitudinal central axis in plan view and has a recess 30 which is open towards the front and a projection 31 which is to be described in more detail to the rear. A corresponding wedge-like projection 7 of the housing 2 is assigned to the recess 30. A travel limiter 8 facing the stop 16 of the release plate 13 is also arranged on the housing 2.

The control surface 15 is curved forward (towards the tip of the ski) and continuously curved. in the Horizontal section (see Fig. 2) shows that the control surface 15 essentially consists of a first section 15a running approximately transversely to the longitudinal axis of the ski, a second section 15b adjoining it, curved backwards, and an adjoining third section running approximately transversely to the longitudinal direction of the ski 15c, an adjoining, forwardly curved section 15d and an adjoining fifth section 15e, again running approximately transversely to the longitudinal axis of the ski.

The rearward projection 31 of the bearing part 20 is designed to match the control surface 15 and likewise has a rearwardly curved first section 31a, then a second section 31b which runs approximately transversely to the longitudinal axis of the ski, and then a forwardly curved third section 31c.

Linien. Die keilförmige Ausbildung des Vorsprunges 7 gestattet im Zusammenwirken mit der Ausnehmung 30 ein seitliches Verschwenken des Lagerteiles 20.FIGS. 4 and 5 show how the bearing part 20 and the angle lever 35 are pivoted in the event of an upward increased force, for example in the event of a backward fall or backward turn fall. The bearing part 20 is pivoted about the tilting edge 27 against the force of the release spring 40. As can be seen in FIG. 4, the release plate 13 detaches itself from the shorter lever arms 36 of the angle lever 35. This initially enables the angle lever 35 to be pivoted almost without force for a sideways release. In Figures 4 and 5 it can also be seen that the spring 40 acts on the release plate 13 with the lower end 14 of the extension 31 in the closing direction of the toe 1. The extension 31 and the control surface 15 touch each other depending on the degree of pivoting at different points or lines. The wedge-shaped design of the projection 7, in cooperation with the recess 30, allows the bearing part 20 to pivot laterally.

Der Fortsatz 31 berührt hier mit seinem etwa quer zur Skilängsachse verlaufenden Abschnitt 31b den ersten Abschnitt 15a der Steuerfläche 15.In Figure 3, the position of the extension 31 relative to the control surface 15 is shown in a simplified reverse fall. The extension 31 touches with his about Section 31b running transversely to the longitudinal axis of the ski, the first section 15a of the control surface 15.

It is easy to see that this triggers the release plate 13 further in the opening direction (to the right in the drawing). As a result, the distance between the upper section of the release plate 13 and the rear support surface 24 of the bearing part 20 increases at the same time, as a result of which the area of the force-free pivoting of the angle lever 35 is increased. An excessive pivoting up of the sole holder 37 and thus an undesired release of the ski shoe is avoided in that the pivoting path of the bearing part 20 is limited by the impact of the stop 16 of the release plate 13 on the travel limiter 8.

The invention is not tied to the embodiment shown in the drawing and described above. Rather, various modifications thereof are possible without leaving the scope of the invention. For example, it would be possible to extend the travel limiter provided on the housing so that it simultaneously prevents snow from penetrating into the ski binding.
