Abstract

A portable radio transceiver with retractable or foldable rod antenna (2; 2') and additional integrated auxiliary antenna (7; 7') which, when the rod antenna is retracted or folded, ensures at least emergency operation of the set. The integrated antenna is constructed on a conical housing projection (6), the internal space of which is connected to the receiving space (5) for accommodating the retracted or folded rod antenna. The part (4) of the rod antenna which is located in the said housing projection (6) when the rod antenna is retracted or folded over consists of insulating material so that it then does not impair the operation of the integrated antenna (6; 6'). When the rod antenna is pulled out or folded out, the feed section (3) arranged at its base is located within the housing projection (6) so that it detunes the integrated antenna (7) to such an extent that it cannot exert any interfering influence. <IMAGE>
