Abstract

This invention concerns a post to mark the door opening in the construction of walls in masonry, which in order to be able to support the counter frame (CT) of the door, while the wall is being raised, has been fitted with several stirrups (2), each of these consisting of a 'U' shaped plate able to house the upgoing boards (3) of the counter-frame (CT), slotted in and provisionally blocked in place by means of nails (4) or clamping bolts.

Description

  • This patent application concerns a post to bound the door openings, during the construction of a wall in masonry, which has been fitted out in such a way as to be able to provisionally support the counter-frame of the door.
  • To better understand the aims and advantages of the invention in question, it is considered necessary to mention the technique normally adopted nowadays in the installation of door counter-frames.
  • First of all, it should be said that in order to mark the door opening in the course of building a dividing wall a pair of posts are used, which are commonly known as 'shafts' and consist of two metallic tubular members, either square or rectangular in section, which are pressed into a perfectly vertical position between the ceiling and the floor, at a distance from each other which is predetermined each time, depending on the width of the door to be fitted.
  • Obviously, the wall is raised on the outside of the pair of aforementioned 'shafts', the door opening being girded with a board, to be stayed at the centre line, above which rests the part of the wall which comes into contact with the empty space.
  • Before starting the installation phase of the counter-frame, it is necessary to dismantle the aforementioned board and to square to size the abutments of the door opening, on which subsequently holes will have to be made, by means of a hammer or chisel, in order to receive the rag-bolts on the external sides of the two posts of the counter-frame, which consists of a portal frame formed by two wooden upgoing boards, cross connected at the top by a transversal board.
  • Obviously, before definitively walling up the said rag-bolts, it is necessary to adjust slightly the position of the counter-frame, the posts of which must be perfectly parallel and vertical and the cross-beam of which must be perfectly horizontal.
  • Once the counter-frame has been made plumb and to size, this is blocked in place by means of wooden supporting wedges, which are subsequently eliminated, when the cement cast on the rag-bolts has taken a firm hold.
  • At this point, the final touches are put to the reveals along the three sides of the counter-frame and the flakes of dry plaster from the boring of the wall in order to insert the rag-bolts, are removed, as well as lime and cement residues from the walling-up of the rag-bolts and the finishing of the reveals.
  • That said, it is hereby stated that the sim of the invention is that of reducing and simplifying the setting up of door counter-frames, providing for the fact that these can be installed in the door opening before raising the dividing wall, which actually grows all around the counter-frame, incorporating it.
  • In this way, the provisional process of girding the door opening is eliminated, as well as the embedding and walling up of the fixing rag-bolts of the counter-frame.
  • The desired aim of the invention is achieved by fitting a common 'shaft' with two stirrups within which the posts of the counter-frame are to be inserted and provisionally blocked in place, thereby supporting said counter-frame by the same pair of 'shafts' already used to mark the door opening.
  • In the model according to the invention, the counter-frame is set up immediately after positioning and fixing the pair of 'shafts', in the stirrups of which the upgoing boards of the counter-frame are inserted and blocked in position, on the outside of which boards, the wall is raised, within which the rag-bolts are embedded. The cross-beam of the counter-frame acts as a girder for the part of the wall which is above it.
  • Once the wall is completed, there is nothing to be done apart from merely removing the 'shafts', obviously after disengaging them from the counter-frame, which, on the contrary remains firmly bound to the wall which surrounds it.
  • The model in question consists of a traditional 'shaft', along which several stirrups are welded, each consisting of a bent cross-plate with a 'U' shape, in such a way as to be able to house within its parallel and exactly opposite wings, the therein slotted upgoing board of the counter-frame.
  • The wing of the stirrup destined to embrace the internal face of the upgoing board of the counter-frame, has several holes where nails are to be inserted in order to support the counter-frame until completion and consolidation of the wall.
  • According to an alternative version of construction, at a point corresponding to the aforementioned holes, nuts fitted with the required bolts are welded, in order to clamp in place the upgoing board of the counter-frame inserted in the stirrup.
  • Moreover, in a further alternative version of construction of the model in question, the aforementioned stirrups are not welded to the 'shaft', but to a sleeve inserted and sliding along the 'shaft', provided with binding clamps which allow rapid clamping at the level considered most suitable on each occasion.
  • For greater clarity of explanation, the description of the invention continues with reference to the attached drawings, included for illustrative and not limitative purposes, wherein :
    • Fig.1 is an axonometric projection of a pair of 'shafts' according to the invention, to which a counter-frame has been fitted ;
    • Fig.2 is a section of Fig.1 along the plane II-II;
    • Fig.3 is an axonometric projection of the aforementioned stirrup in the version fitted with nuts and- bolts for rapid clamping of the counter-frames;
    • Figures 4A and 4B are axonometric projections of the aforementioned stirrup in the version, in which it is supported by a sliding sleeve, which can be blocked along the 'shaft'.
  • With reference to the aforementioned figures, the model according to the invention consists of a 'shaft' (1), on the side of which are welded several stirrups (2), within which to provisionally insert and clamp the upgoing boards (3) of the counter-frame (CT).
  • Each stirrup (2), made up of bent cross plate with a 'U' profile, the parallel and exactly opposite wings of which being set at a greater distance from each other than the thickness of the boards (3) which are to be slotted within said stirrups (2).
  • The wing (2a) of the stirrup (2) which will come to a head against the internal face (3a) of the upgoing boards (3) of the counter-frame (CT), has several holes (2b) for the inserting of nails (4), used to support the counter-frame in a stable manner, during the raising and consolidation of the wall (M).
  • In an alternative method of construction, represented in Fig.3, the wing (2a) is fitted with nuts (5) welded at the point corresponding to its holes, in such a way-that the blocking in place of the counter-frame, as well as the removal of the 'shafts' (1), can take place more rapidly and easily, either screwing or unscrewing respectively the bolts (5a) with which each nut (5) is fitted.
  • With reference to figures 4B and 4B, the stirrup (2), in a further embodiment of the invention, is welded externally to a sleeve (6), of a size and shape as to be able to be inserted arid made to slide along the 'shaft' (1).
  • The blocking in place of the sleeve (6) along the 'shaft' can take place by means of a clamping bolt (7a), fitted with a knob (7), to ensure simple and rapid tightening or loosening of the former.
