Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a shaft of a turbomachine which has one or more rotationally symmetrical cavities.
The invention relates to a prior art, as it results for example from DE-PS 26 33 829.
Inside the shafts of large turbo machines there are usually for manufacturing reasons, e.g. with welded rotors and / or large rotationally symmetrical cavities for reasons of cost and weight. In the case of welded shafts, these cavities are filled with the protective gas used for welding, typically argon. The pressure is likely to be lower than the atmospheric pressure because the welding takes place at high temperature and approximately atmospheric pressure.
Such cavities have a thermally insulating effect during transient heating processes and in certain cases also in stationary cases. This can result in strong differential strains that lead to premature material fatigue.
Starting from the prior art, the object of the invention is to provide measures which reduce or even cancel the insulating effect of the said cavities.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the cavity or cavities are filled with a gas whose thermal conductivity is greater than that of air or that of the protective gas, and / or that internals are provided in the cavity or cavities for increasing the heat transfer.
Due to the different temperatures at the end walls of the cavities in the waves, induced boundary layer currents arise which extract heat from the hot end and supply it to the cold end. Now choose gases that are more suitable for this type of convective heat transfer, e.g. Gases with larger molecules such as sulfur hexafluoride or certain freons, then the heat transfer can be massively increased. Vapors that condense on the cold side would also be conceivable. In addition, the cavity can be pressurized to achieve increased heat transfer.
As an alternative or in addition to the aforementioned gas or steam filling, internals, for example radially-axially extending ribs, can also be provided on the heat-transmitting walls. Such a measure improves convective heat transfer on the one hand because of the larger surface area, and on the other hand the induced boundary layer flow is strengthened because the ribs suppress the deflection of the Coriolis acceleration. With these measures, the insulating effect of a cavity in the shaft of a turbomachine can be greatly weakened or even canceled.
The invention is explained below with reference to exemplary embodiments illustrated in the drawing.

The shaft of a turbomachine according to FIG. 1 consists in the example of two
A further increase in the heat transfer can be achieved if 4 internals in the form of radially extending
The combined use of a special gas filling and axial-radial fins in the cavity leads to heat transfers in the cavity that come close to the metallic heat conduction, so that the insulating effect of the cavity or cavities in the shaft of a turbomachine is weakened or even canceled. While the installation of internals must already be carried out in the course of the manufacture of the shaft, (closable) filling openings for gases or vapors can also be subsequently introduced into the shaft.
