Abstract
Procedure for detecting breakdowns in street lighting typified because it consists of detectors, an emitter and the lighting lines themselves, connecting a detector to each light, as each detector consists of sensors capable of controlling the principal parameters of the line, each detector possessing an identification code that can be programmed, because the emitter is compatible with the information contained in the detectors during the functioning of the lights, making it available from a unit of connection and the whole being designed in such a way that, for example, with a Master/Slave system of questions and replies the emitter emits questions according to the codification of directions which the detectors decodify, being the detector the direction of which coincides with that transmitted which responds for the state of the lighting under its charge.
Description
- The present patent of invention refers to the procedure for detecting breakdowns in street lighting.
- To be more specific, a system has been devised in the invention which permits any centralized system of street lighting to identify the faulty light point in the whole computerized network with the direct and explicit indication of the number of the faulty street light.
- It is known that the present techniques of detection of breakdowns in street lighting do not localize individually the various failures which affect it.
- In order to rectify technically these shortcomings at a reduced cost, a system has been devised, which is the object of this invention, the objective of which is the individualized detection by electronic means of the breakdowns in the anomalous functioning of street lighting and the transfer of this information to a central or local data gathering centre, without infrastructure expenditure on laying of cable to this end, so that the same electric lines which supply the lights are turned into conductor lines of communication.
- In order to simplify the explanation, a case realized in practice is described as follows, illustrative but not restrictive of the present invention, which is cited by way of example. The device described consists principally of detectors and a emitter.
- The detectors are responsible for supervising the functioning of each light and storing information of breakdown. Each light has its own detector with a related code that can be programmed, which permits its own light to be identified from the rest. Each detector has to communicate the state of the light for which it is responsible when requested by the emitter.
- The system of detection of breakdowns is based on sensors which control the principal parameters of the network.
- This system not only detects fused lamps, cut reactances, defective starters, etc., but also any temporary breakdown which may occur due to the end of the useful life of these elements being near at hand (intermittent functioning).
- The detector retains in its memory the information of defective functioning even when the cause of the breakdown has been eliminated.
- The emitter has the task of gathering the information stored in the detectors during the functioning of the lighting and making it available from the local electronic unit. There is a emitter in each one of the connection units.
- When the reply is received, this is confirmation that the lighting, detector and communication line are working properly.
- The transmission both of the directions and the reply is by means of low tension lines for reasons of economy, although the possibility exists of installing another parallel line exclusively devoted to the communication of the detector or using the control flow line for reduced lighting.
Claims (1)
1.- Procedure for detecting breakdowns in street lighting typified essentially because it consists of detectors, a emitter and the lighting lines themselves, connecting a detector to each light, as each detector consists of sensors capable of controlling the principal parameters of the mains, each detector possessing an identification code that can be programmed, because the emitter is compatible with the information contained in the detectors during the functioning of the lights, making it available from a unit of connection and the whole being designed adequately so that, for example, with a Master/Slave system of questions and replies the emitter emits by codification the directions which the detectors decodify, being the detector the direction of which coincides with that transmitted which responds for the state of the lighting under its charge.
