Abstract
Description
Die Erfindung betrifft eine Anschlußeinheit der im Oberbegriff des Anspruchs 1 angegebenen Art.The invention relates to a connection unit of the type specified in the preamble of claim 1.
From EP 0 344 609 A2 a digital signal transmission system for home automation is known, in which data telegrams can be transmitted between different connection units installed in the building or between each connection unit and a central unit. The data transmission takes place for the purpose of switching, controlling, regulating, measuring and / or monitoring, wherein the connection units can have the functions of input and / or output units. External electrical devices, detectors or function transmitters can be connected to the connection units. The connection unit enables the external device to communicate with the home control system. As function-specific connection units for different external devices connection units are required, it is provided to standardize the system to be installed in the building that each connection unit consists of a bus coupling unit and an adapter. In terms of hardware, the bus coupling units are constructed identically to one another, so that when the system is installed, only one bus coupling unit that contains a microprocessor must be installed at each connection point. This bus coupling unit is connected to a function-specific adapter, which completes the connection unit and gives it the behavior that is required for communication with a specific external device type.
From US-A-4 083 619 a cable connector is known which has two mating housing parts which are each connected to one of the cables. The housing parts, which complement one another when plugged together, have multipole electrical connectors and are secured against pulling apart by a distortion-proof locking device.
The present invention is concerned with the structural design of the connection unit consisting of bus coupling unit and adapter. The invention has for its object to provide a connection unit of the type specified in the preamble of claim 1, which has a structurally simple structure and is suitable for concealed accommodation in false ceilings, partitions and cavity floors as well as for free installation without a fixed wall installation.
This object is achieved according to the invention with the features specified in claim 1.
In the connection unit according to the invention, the bus coupling unit and the adapter are accommodated in separate housing parts which can be plugged together and then form a freely movable housing. This housing does not need to be encapsulated in a water-tight and dust-tight manner, but merely forms an outer jacket against damage such as that caused by impacts and the like can be caused, as well as a touch protection. The housing can be placed in a protected place behind wall or ceiling cladding or in furniture, whereby it is only stored there and does not require a fixed installation. The two housing parts, one of which is connected to the data cable and the other to at least one cable for the external device, are secured against pulling apart by the locking device, so that the connection cannot be released by pulling on the cables. The connection unit is of a very simple construction and it can be manufactured easily and inexpensively, for example from injection molded plastic parts. The electrical components in the housing parts, such as the bus coupling unit and adapter, can be implemented and cast on printed circuit boards.
The cable connections are expediently provided with strain reliefs, so that the cables cannot be pulled out of their contact terminals by pulling.
The housing is preferably divided in the longitudinal direction, the connecting devices for the cables being provided on the housing ends facing away from one another. However, it is also possible to divide the housing in the transverse direction, a lower and an upper housing half being provided in each case and one housing half containing the bus coupling unit and the other the adapter. In this case too, both housing parts are provided with a cable connection device.
Further features and developments of the invention result from the subclaims.
