Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an air conditioning device for vehicles, in particular for railway cars.
French patent application 2,632,593 of the applicant describes a device comprising a fan which blows cold or hot air in a duct extending to the lower part of the internal lateral face of the vehicle. This duct opens into two air outlet passages, the first being located against the lateral face of the duct adjacent to the interior of the vehicle and ensuring a distribution of air downward perpendicular to the floor of the vehicle, and the second being located above the duct against the internal lateral face of the vehicle and ensuring air distribution at the windows. This second air passage is provided, at its base, with an orifice intended to bring air from the vehicle into the passage so as to improve the flow rate of the device by a convection effect.
This installation has some drawbacks, particularly with regard to the distribution of cold or heated air towards the floor.
Firstly, the air passage located in the lower part of the device and ensuring the blowing towards the ground poses problems of bulk, because it is juxtaposed with the duct, and of weight, all the more so as its fragility, in particular faced with the stresses of travelers' feet, leads to the need to add stiffening elements to it.
On the other hand, this device requires to properly send the air towards the ground, to use deflection plates. When the blown air is reflected on these plates, its speed decreases and a reduction in flow results.
Furthermore, this flow rate also depends on the section of the air outlet zone and, as aesthetic reasons often require that the duct be covered with a coating, this section is reduced due to the thickness of this coating , especially if it is carpet.
Finally, as this device blows air downward perpendicularly to the floor, this results on the one hand in a poor distribution of this air, in particular towards the middle of the vehicle and on the other hand a reflection on this floor. This reflection has the consequence of returning this air towards the upper part of the duct and in particular towards the orifice which normally collects air at ambient temperature of the vehicle, which causes a loss of efficiency.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks so as to optimize the efficiency of the installation by ensuring maximum comfort for the passengers while improving the performance relating to the size and weight.
The device which is the subject of the invention comprises at least one fan blowing cold or heated air in a duct extending to the lower part of the interior lateral face of the vehicle, this duct opening into distribution means. air towards the interior of the vehicle, said means comprising at least one opening formed on the lateral face of the duct adjacent to the interior of the vehicle.
According to the invention, the device is characterized in that this opening is made in a plane which coincides with said lateral face of the duct, in that the interior of the duct has, opposite said opening, a wall forming an acute angle with said lateral face of the duct and connecting to it at a point situated above said opening, said wall comprising at least one orifice situated opposite said opening, and in that the axis passing through the centers of said orifice and said opening points obliquely both towards the interior and towards the floor of the vehicle.
The device allows the air conditioning to be blown in an oblique direction relative to the floor. Consequently, the passengers are not bothered by the passage of air and the problems of loss of efficiency due to the crushing of the air jet on the floor are eliminated. The characteristics of the vehicle to be air conditioned can also be easily taken into account when choosing the height and the section of the openings on the lateral face of the duct and the angle that the wall located at this face has with this face. inside the duct.
In addition, the proposed device has the advantage of discretion since the distribution means do not form a protrusion on the surface of the duct and since the external coating of the duct can be easily applied to the device.
Other features and advantages of the invention will appear in the detailed description which follows.

Referring to Figures 1 and 2, we see that the
In the example shown in FIG. 1, the distribution of air inside the vehicle is effected by a series of
In the cross section of Figure 2, made precisely at one of the
This figure 2 shows a wall 6 located inside the
The wall 6 has an
In an advantageous version of the invention, the section 8 comprising the wall 6 carries a series of
By way of example and with reference to FIG. 4, the fixing of this
The fact of having, behind the
When the
Thanks to the
In the embodiment shown diagrammatically in FIG. 5, the
A device of this nature is described by French patent application 2,632,593 of the applicant.
By the present invention, the air admitted through the
It is understood that the invention is not limited to the two embodiments described above. In particular, the series of
Similarly, it is clear that the fact of practicing several parallel series of
