Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a monitoring device for a fuel filter according to the preamble of claim 1. Such a monitoring device for a fuel filter is known from DE 32 31 142. A fuel filter with a water level sensor is described there. If the water level in the fuel filter exceeds a certain level, a warning lamp is activated by the evaluation electronics. Separate electronics are required for the water level sensor, which has no connection whatsoever to other monitoring devices or means for controlling or regulating the internal combustion engine.
An electronic diesel control system is described in Motortechnische Zeitschrift 49 of the year 1988 on page 37 to page 41. This device regulates or controls various variables such as fuel quantity, speed, start of spraying depending on different sensor signals. All regulation and control functions are monitored. In the event of failure or failure of individual control or regulation components, emergency operation is initiated and the error is saved at the same time. This makes it easy to locate the fault during maintenance work. With this facility Errors of individual components of the control or regulation of the internal combustion engine are monitored.
The invention has for its object to combine a monitoring device for a fuel filter with a device for electronic control of a diesel engine. The control device of the internal combustion engine is to supply the residue sensor with a supply voltage and monitor the output signal of the sensor. This object is solved by the features of claim 1.
Such a device has the advantage that no separate control device is required for the sensor. This combination enables a large number of possible reactions to a restricted functionality of the fuel filter. Advantageous embodiments of the invention are characterized in the subclaims. The invention is explained below with reference to the embodiment shown in the drawing.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing and explained in more detail in the following description.
The drawing shows the
The
The sensor signal at the
The
If, despite careful design of the
Furthermore, the
With such a monitoring device it is possible to influence the internal combustion engine depending on the functionality of the fuel filter and at the same time to inform the driver of the restricted functionality.
