Description

  • The invention relates to an interlockable building panel, consisting of at least two parallel plates, between which a thermally, acoustically or otherwise isolating material is applied, the panel being provided with at least one edge made of metal sheet, profiled in cross-section, which edge can interact with the edge of a second building panel, in such a way that the building panel can be interlocked with this second building panel, pivoting upon an axis perpendicular to the cross-section of the edge.
  • Such a building panel is known. for instance from the US patent no. 4.589.240. The known building panels are sometimes provided with an edge which can interact with the edge of an adjacent panel, identical in cross-section, and sometimes the panels are made with two edges, different in cross-section, the cross-section of the one edge being complementary to the cross-section of the other edge.
  • The known building panels are always constructed in such a way that the cross-section of the edge of a panel has re-entrant as well as salient angles, that is, angles smaller than 180° as well as angles greater than 180°.
  • The known building panels have the disadvantage, resulting from the existence of re-entrant as well as salient angles in the cross-section of the edge, that these can only be made in a relatively complicated and therefore relatively expensive way. The metal plate of which the edge is made will have to be folded upwards (from the surface of the plate), as well as downward (into the surface of the plate), in order to get re-entrant and salient angles, which demands a relatively laborious (and therefore expensive) method of production. From for instance fig.2 of the said US Patent no. 4.589.240, these disadvantages are manifest.
  • Of some of the known panels, the cross-section of the edge has such a complicated profile, that the edges can only be made by means of costly and complicated coil- or extrusion-processes.
  • Object of the invention is to provide a building panel that does not have the drawback mentioned.
  • This object, according to the invention, is attained with a building panel, of which the edge consists of two metal plates, made for that purpose, part of each metal plate being parallel and continuous with one of said parallel plates, of which plates one has a U- or V-profile in cross-section, and the other one has an L- or U-profile in cross-section, the second plate totally or partially closing the open side of the U- or V-profile of the first plate, said metal plates being folded such, that the cross-section of said metal plate contains only salient angles, that is, the plates are folded such, that the angle of each fold, measured at the external surface of the metal plate, is greater than 180°.
  • The edge of a building panel according to the invention can, in cross-section, contain salient as well as re-entrant angles; the great advantage of the invention lies in that salient angles can only be obtained by deformation of the metal plates used, in always the same direction (for instance, only down, into the surface of the plate) whereas re-entrant angles are simply create as a result of the putting together of the two shaped metal plates.
  • The qualities of the shape of the building panel according to the invention are especially utilized in a panel in which the two metal plates, of which the edge consists, are thermally isolated from one another. Such a building panel can be applied in places where a great temperature gradient (for instance with exterior walls) has to be maintained.
  • In a preferred embodiment of a building panel according to the invention, the two metal plates of which the edge consists are provided with a basically flat part, the flat parts together forming the two parallel plates between which the isolating material is applied. A building panel according to this preferred embodiment can be made in a simple and therefore cost-saving way by gluing, or in another way attaching the basically flat parts of both plates to an isolating plate of for instance polyurethane, polystyrene foam or cork.
  • Because of the special construction of the edge of a building panel according to the invention, it is possible to provide the U- or V-profile and/or the L- or U-profile with moisture- or wind-resistant material in a simple way. A rubber strip, for instance, in cross-section consisting of a hollow or massive core which is provided with a thinner lip, can be applied in the edge in such a way that the core fills the cavity in the U- or V-profile, while the thinner lip rests on the bottom side of the L-or U-profile.
  • The invention also relates to a sectional door. A sectional door is a door, composed of interlockable building panels, provided with an edge, which can interact with the edge of a second building panel, in such a way that the building panel can be interlocked with this second building panel, pivoting upon an axis perpendicular to the cross-section of the edge.
  • Such a sectional door is known.
  • The known sectional doors are all composed of known, interlockable building panels.
  • The use of known building panels results in that the known sectional doors are usually composed of relatively complicated elements and therefore are expensive to purchase. A further disadvantage, connected with this, is that when the doors are assembled, one has to use standard panel sizes - width and thickness - which usually leads to additional cost and limitations in the realization.
  • Objective of the invention is to provide a simple and relatively cheap sectional door.
  • The invention thereto provides a sectional door, consisting of interlockable building panels according to one of the previous claims.
  • With a sectional door according to the invention, one disposes of a door that is easier to construct and cheaper to purchase than the known sectional doors. A further advantage, connected with this, is that the size of a sectional door according to the invention ( height, width but also thickness) can be made to conform with the customer's specific demands in a very easy and therefore cheap way.
  • The invention will now be explained further at the hand of drawings.
    • Fig. 1 gives a cross-section of two interacting edges of two interlocked building panels according to the invention;
    • Fig. 2 shows a variant of Fig. 1;
    • Fig. 3 gives the cross-section of a building panel according to the invention, provided with two edges that can interact with the edge of subsequent panels, both edges and both sides of the panel consisting of two metal plates, made for that purpose, the edges being provided with a moisture- or wind-resistant material.
  • In Fig. 1, the plates 1 and 2, bent in U- and L-shape, form the composite parts of the upper edge of the lower panel, of which also a part of the isolating material 3 is shown, the plates 4 and 5, bent in U- or L-shape making up the composite parts of the lower edge of the upper panel, interacting with said edge, of which panel a part of the isolating material 6 is also shown.
  • In Fig. 2, the composite parts of the upper edge of the lower panel are formed by plates 7 and 8, bent in V- and L- shape, and the composite parts of the lower edge of the upper panel, interacting with said edge, are formed by plates 10 and 11, respectively bent in U-shape and opened-out U-shape. Of the bottom and top plate, parts 9 and 12 of the isolating material are also shown.
  • Fig. 3 shows a building panel consisting of a plate 13 of which top and bottom side 14 and 15 are respectively bent in an L- and a U-shape, from a plate 16 of which top and bottom side 17 and 18 are respectively bent, in an L- and a U-shape, out of isolating material 18 and of rubber strips 19 and 20, the strips being stuck in the cavities of the U-profiles 14 and 18 and being provided with a lip resting on the respective bottom sides of the L- shaped profiles 17 and 15.
