Für die Herstellung von Büchern oder Heften wird zunächst ein Stoß aus Papier oder auch Kunststoffblättern gebildet und dieser dann in eine Einbanddecke eingelegt. Solche Einbanddecken bestehen aus einem Einbandrücken und daran über Falze angeformten Einbanddeckel sowie aus einem auf die Innenseite des Einbandrückens aufgebrachten Schmelzkleberstreifen. Für den Bindevorgang wird die Einbanddecke mit den darin eingelegten Blättern in den Einstellschacht eingesetzt, und zwar derart, daß die Außenseite des Einbandrückens auf die Heizplatte zu liegen kommt. Dann wird die verschiebbare Stützwandung in Richtung auf die ortsfeste Stützwandung verschoben, damit die Einbanddecke ihre senkrechte Stellung während des Bindevorgangs beibehält. Die Heizplatte wird dann elektrisch erhitzt, und zwar auf eine Temperatur, die höher liegt als die Schmelztemperatur des Schmelzkleberstreifens. Dieser erweicht dann, so daß die in der Einbanddecke eingelegten Blätter mit ihren unteren Kanten in den Schmelzkleberstreifen einsinken und dabei benetzt werden. Nach einer bestimmten Zeit wird die Mappeneinheit aus Einbanddecke und Blättern aus dem Bindegerät herausgenommen, wobei hierzu die verschiebbare Stützwandung zurückgezogen wird. Die Mappeneinheit wird dann mit dem Rücken zuunterst entweder auf einem separaten Kühlständer oder - wie bei dem Bindegerät nach der DE-PS 35 14 222 - auf einer in das Rahmengestell eingeformten Abstellfläche abgesetzt, wo die Mappe auskühlen kann. Die bekannten Bindegeräte haben den Bedienungsnachteil, daß die Mappen nach dem Bindevorgang aus dem Bindegerät herausgenommen und zu einer besonderen Abstellfläche getragen werden müssen. Nach dem Grundgedanken der Erfindung ist also die Heizplatte nicht mehr ortsfest angeordnet, sondern bildet mit der Abstellfläche für die fertiggestellten Mappeneinheiten ein Paar, das sich wechselweise in den Bereich des Einstellschachtes bewegen läßt. Nach dem Aufheizvorgang können deshalb die Heizplatte aus dem Bereich des Einstellschachtes herausbewegt und dafür die Abstellfläche in diesen Bereich hineinbewegt werden, so daß die Mappeneinheit von der kühlen Abstellfläche unterstützt wird und auf diese Weise schnell abkühlt. Es ist deshalb nicht mehr erforderlich, die Mappeneinheit für das Abkühlen aus dem Einstellschacht herauszuheben. Sie kann darin verbleiben, ohne daß hierdurch die Abkühlzeit verlängert wird. Erst nach dem Abkühlen wird sie herausgenommen, wobei dann schon ein fester Verbund zwischen Blättern und Einbanddecke besteht, die Mappe also sofort in Gebrauch genommen werden kann. Claims (17)
- Binding apparatus (1) for binding loose sheets (2) in binding covers (3) provided at their binding spine (31) with a hot-melt adhesive stripe (30), having a frame (4) and having two parallel support walls (7,9) forming between them a loading shaft (8) for loading the binding covers (3) filled with the sheets (2), which during the binding process is bounded at the bottom by a heating plate (15), and having a resting surface (18) upon which to rest the finished, bound folder unit of binding cover (3) and sheets (2), characterised in that the heating plate (15) and resting surface (18) are displaceably supported in the frame (4) in such manner that they can be displaced alternately into and out of the region of the loading shaft (8).
- Binding apparatus according to claim 1, characterised in that the heating plate (15) and resting surface (18) are guided in such manner that upon change over from the heating plate (15) to the resting surface (18) the binding cover (3) present in the loading shaft (8) remains supported.
- Binding apparatus according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the heating plate (15) and resting surface (18) are guided for displacement transverse to their longitudinal axes and are arranged next to each other.
- Binding apparatus according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the heating plate (15) and resting surface (18) are supported for horizontal displacement.
- Binding apparatus according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterised in that the heating plate (15) and resting surface (18) are both arranged upon a carriage.
- Binding apparatus according to claim 5, characterised in that the resting surface (18) is arranged somewhat lower than the heating plate (15).
- Binding apparatus according to one of claims 1 to 6, characterised in that heating plate (15) and resting surface (18) are driven by at least one electric motor (23).
- Binding apparatus according to claim 7, characterised in that a control device to control the power supply to the heating plate (15) and to the electric motor(s) (23) is provided for automatically switching on the electric motor(s) (23) for displacement of the heating plate (15) from, and of the resting surface (18) into, the region of the loading shaft (8) after switching off or turning down the power supply to the heating plate (15).
- Binding apparatus according to claim 8, characterised in that the control device is provided with a sensor for detection of the binding cover (3) in the loading shaft (8), the control device switching on the electric motor(s) (23) for displacement of the resting surface (18) from, and of the heating plate (15) into, the region of the loading shaft (8) when the sensor signals an empty loading shaft.
- Binding apparatus according to claim 8, characterised in that the control device switches on the electric motor(s) (23) for displacement of the resting surface (18) from, and of the heating plate (15) into, the loading shaft (8) when the power supply to the heating plate (15) is switched on or turned to full power.
- Binding apparatus according to one of claims 1 to 10, characterised in that an electrically driven blower (24) is provided, with air flow to the lower region of the loading shaft (8).
- Binding apparatus according to claim 11, wherein the blower takes the form of a radial cylinder blower (24).
- Binding apparatus according to claim 12, characterised in that the cylinder blower (24) is about as long as the heating plate (15) and its axis of rotation extends parallel to the longitudinal axis of the heating plate (15).
- Binding apparatus according to one of claims 11 to 13, characterised in that at least one air flow baffle (25) is provided which is movable between a position in which the air stream is directed in the direction of the loading shaft (8) and a position in which the air stream is diverted away from the loading shaft (8).
- Binding apparatus according to claim 14, characterised in that the air flow baffle(s) (25) is or are coupled kinematically with the heating plate (15) and/or the resting surface (18) in such manner that the air flow baffle(s) (25) is or are positioned to divert the air stream away from the loading shaft (8) when the heating plate (15) is present in the region of the loading shaft (8), and that the air flow baffle(s) (25) assumes or assume a position directing the air stream into the region of the loading shaft (8) when the resting surface (18) is present in the region of the loading shaft (8).
- Binding apparatus according to one of claims 11 to 15, characterised in that a control device is provided to control the power supply to the heating plate (15) and to the blower (24), which switches on the blower (24) when the heating plate (15) is switched off or turned down and/or when the heating plate (15) is being moved out of or is outside the region of the loading shaft (8), and switches the blower (24) off when the heating plate (15) is being moved into or is within the region of the loading shaft (8).
- Binding apparatus according to one of claims 11 to 16, characterised in that a shield is provided for shielding the heating plate (15) from the air stream when in position outside the region of the loading shaft (8).
