Claims (11)

  1. Device connecting the first and second sections of a spin- stabilized artillery projectile (1), which sections are intended to separate while in flight, device comprising at least one interlocking device and an initial profile (11) on the first section that is in contact with a second profile (12), which complements the preceding one, and which is rigid with the second section, wherein the first and second profiles do not have geometric symmetry in relation to the axis (15) of the projectile (1) and hence the respective centres of gravity of the first and second sections are not on the axis of the projectile, and in that once the two sections have been assembled, the centre of gravity of the assembly thus formed is on the axis of the projectile.
  2. Device in accordance with claim 1, wherein the first profile (11) is on an extension (10) of the first section and has at least one cylindrical surface (25) that is in contact with a cylindrical surface of a housing that is rigid with the second section.
  3. Device in accordance with claim 2, wherein the cylindrical surface (25) is offset in relation to the projectile.
  4. Device in accordance with claim 3, wherein the interlocking device comprises at least one key (18) that is parallel with the axis (15) of the projectile.
  5. Device in accordance with one of claims 1 - 4, wherein the first profile (11) comprises at least two tabs (13, 21) separated by notches (14, 22).
  6. Device in accordance with claim 5, wherein the tabs (13) and the notches (14) are made in the cylindrical surface (25) of the extension (10) along a radial direction of the projectile.
  7. Device in accordance with claim 5, wherein the extension (10) of the first section takes the form of a cylindrical ring, and wherin the tabs (21) and the notches (22) are made in the ring along an axial direction of the projectile.
  8. Device in accordance with either of claims 6 or 7, wherein the whole of the first profile (11) is symmetrical in relation to a radial plane (23) that passes through the axis (15) of the projectile (1), and wherein, on this first profile, each notch (14, 22) of given dimensions, is associated with a tab (13, 21) of the same dimensions arranged in a symmetrical fashion in relation to the axis (15) of the projectile.
  9. Device in accordance with one of claims 1 - 8 wherein the second profile (12) is on a ring that is rendered rigid with the second section by means of a second interlocking device.
  10. Device in accordance with one of claims 1 - 9 and used on a projectile of the rear ejection type i.e. intended to eject a payload in flight after the shell base has separated from the body of the projectile, wherein the first section comprises the shell base (4) of the projectile (1) and the second section the body (2) of the projectile.
  11. Device in accordance with claim 10 and adapted for a projectile containing cylindrical pieces of sub-ammunition inside the body, wherein the second profile (12) is partially on the body (2) of the projectile and partially on one of the pieces of sub-ammunition.
