Abstract

The apparatus comprises a support element for arranging in a circumferential pattern a through-going channel (3) of a cloth article or garment, in which a comparatively resilient or flexible element (10) can be engaged which is provided,at one end,with a gripping element (11) and is entrained on a pulley (20), driven by driving means,for recovering the flexible element engaged in the channel and associeted with the cord element to be applied.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to an apparatus for automatically introducing cords and resilient strips into throughgoing channels of cloth articles and the like.
  • As is known,a very important problem to be solved in the garment and cloth industry is that of properly inserting,in a quick and efficient way,resilient cords and strips into throughgoing channels formed in cloth or garment articles.
  • These resilient cords or strips are presently applied by manual operations,with a consequent great increase of the article production cost.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • Accordingly, the aim of the present invention is to overcome the above mentioned drawback,by providing an apparatus for automatically performing the above disclosed operation of introducing resilient cords and strips into channels formed through cloth and garment articles.
  • Within the scope of the above aim,a main object of the present invention is to provide such an apparatus which is very reliable in operation and can apply any types of resilient flexible elongated element.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide such an apparatus which can be easily constructed,at a very reduced cost,starting from easily available elements and materials.
  • According to one aspect of the present invention,the above mentioned aim and objects,as well as yet other objects,which will become more apparent hereinafter,are achieved by an apparatus for introducing resilient cords and strips into throughgoing channels of cloth articles,characterized in that said apparatus comprises a support element for arranging in a circumferential pattern a channel formed in a cloth article said channel being so arranged and designed to receive therein a comparatively flexible elongated element provided,at one end thereof ,with a gripping element for engaging said resilient cord,said elongated element being entrained on a driven pulley adapted to recover said elongated element from said channel.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description of a preferred,though not exclusive embodiment thereof ,which is illustrated, by way of an indicative but not limitative example,in the figures of the accompanying drawings,where:
    • figure 1 is a schematic elevation view illustrating the apparatus according to the present invention;
    • figure 2 is a schematic top view of the apparatus and specifically shows a staring operating step in which an elongated flexible element is engaged in a channel of a cloth or garment article;
    • figure 3 is another top plan view illustrating the coupling of the elongated flexible element already introduced into the channel and a resilient cord or strip to be engaged in said channel; and
    • figure 4 shows an operating step of the apparatus in which said resilient cord is introduced into said channel by recovering said elongated element.
    DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • With reference to the figures of the accompanying drawings,the apparatus according to the present invention comprises a supporting body,indicated overally at the reference number 1,which comprises adjustable circumference means for supporting and stretching, at a circumferential position,a cloth or garment article in which there is formed a channel provided for receiving a resilient cord or strip.
  • In the disclosed embodiment, said cloth article consists of a pair of shorts 2 which, at the waist level, is provided with a throughgoing channel 3.
  • As stated,said supporting elements can be constructed with a sector arrangement so as to change the circumference on which said channel must be arranged. The apparatus comprises moreover an elongated element,advantageously a hardened steel cable 10 which, owing to its resiliency,can be easily introduced into said channel 3.
  • At the free end of the flexible cable,which forms a cord gripping member,there is provided a gripping member 11.
  • At the other end of said elongated element or cable 10 there is provided a driven pulley,which is driven by any suitable driving means.
  • According to a preferred embodiment,a driving motor 30 is provided provided with a clutch wheel 31,which motor is arranged near the pivot axle of said pulley 20,also provided with a driven clutch wheel 32.
  • For driving the pulley,a rocking lever 35 is provided which supports a middle clutch wheel 36 which can be arranged between the wheels 31 and 32 so as to drive said pulley,said lever being in turn driven through a pedal or the like driving system.
  • For applying the cord-the elongated flexible element is preliminary introduced into the channel so as to cause the gripping element to project from one end of said channel; then the cord is coupled to the gripping element and the pulley is rotated for rewinding thereon said elongated element,by removing it from the channel and automatically introducing into said channel the cord.
  • While the invention has been disclosed and illustrated with reference to a preferred embodiment thereof,it should be apparent that the disclosed embodiment is susceptible to several modifications and variations,all of which will come within the spirit and scope of the accompanying claims.
