Abstract

The invention relates to a process for manufacturing seamless pressure vessels from an aluminium-killed CrMo steel of specific composition. After hot forming, the pressure vessels are tempered by austenitising at 830 to 880 DEG C, cooling at a rate of 5 to 15 K/s to room temperature and drawing up to 680 DEG C and cooling in air. The steel alloy is distinguished by a nitrogen content of 0.003 to 0.01% and furthermore contains 0.010 to 0.040% of titanium and 0.001 to 0.03% of boron, with a Ti/N ratio of at least 3:4.
