Abstract

There is disclosed a section member assembly the section members of which are specifically designed for facilitating their assembling operations for making wing blind. This section member assembly comprises section members (1, 2) having like cross-sections,of which one with greater size than the other,adapted to be right angle coupled by means of 45 DEG or 90 DEG bevels,for making bearing frames. Cross blades (3) formed by an oval section member are arranged between these frames. With these section members further section members can cooperate adapted to afford the possibility of mounting,at the bottom of the blind,an openable door member of the so-called genoa type.

Description

  • The present invention relates to a coordinated structure section member assembly which has been specifically designed for making hinged shutters.
  • As is known, hinged shutters are conventionally formed by a wood frame which supports a plurality of transversely extending strips or "blades" also made of wood material.
  • Also known is the fact that some difficulties are presently encountered in supplying and machining wood materials, the finishing operations being moreover very complex and expensive.
  • Thus the replacing or repairing of worn shutters or the fitting of new wood shutters represent rather expensive operations.
  • On the other hand shutters made of metal section members are rather different, from a mere aesthetic standpoint, from wooden shutters and frequently they are rejected by the users.
  • The FR-A-2 520 048 reference discloses coordinated section member assembly having substantially the features of the characterizing portion of the main claim.
  • The "ENCICLOPEDIA ITALIANA" Rome, 1935, page 857 discloses a Genoa type of shutter made of wood elements: these elements are specifically designed for this type of GENOA Shutter and can not be used, in an interexchangeable way for making conventional shutters.
  • Accordingly, the aim of the present invention is to overcome the above mentioned drawbacks by providing a coordinated structure section member assembly the sections of which can be used for making, in a simple way, hinged shutters and the like either provided or not with a bottom cat door.
  • Within the scope of the above mentioned task, a main object of the present invention is to provide a coordinated structure section member assembly which affords the possibility of making shutters to be directly mounted on a wall.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide such a coordinated structure section member assembly which affords the possibility of making shutters to be mounted on a fixed aluminium frame.
  • Yet another object of the present invention is to provide such a coordinated structure section member assembly which affords the possibility of making shutters which are aesthetically acceptable even for installation in hystorical places.
  • According to one aspect of the present invention, the above mentioned aim and objects, as well as yet other objects, which will become more apparent hereinafter, are achieved by a coordinated structure section member assembly having the features of the characterizing part of Claim 1.
  • Further characteristics and advantages of the coordinated structure section member assembly according to the present invention will become more apparent hereinafter from the following detailed description of a preferred embodiment thereof which is illustrated, by way of an indicative but not limitative example, in the figures of the accompanying drawings, where:
    • figures 1 to 12 are cross-sectional views illustrating the section member assembly according to the present invention,
    • figure 13 schematically illustrates a shutter provided with bottom cat door members adapted to project, which shutter has been made by using a portion of the mentioned section members;
    • figure 14 shows a horizontal cross-sectional view of the top portion of the shutter taken along the line XIV-XIV of fig 13;
    • figure 15 shows another horizontal cross-sectional view, taken along the line XV-XV of fig 13 at its bottom portion, of the shutter comprising the mentioned door members.
  • With reference to the figures of the accompanying drawings, the coordinated structure section member assembly for making hinged shutters according to the present invention comprises a section member 1 for making the outer uprights and cross-members of a shutter frame, the inner uprights of which are made by using another section member 2.
  • The shutter frame is completed by transversely extending strips or blades, consisting of portions of a further section member, of elongated or oval cross-section, arranged at a position opened at about 30°.
  • At the bottom portion of the shutter, moreover, louvers can be provided which are limited, at the top, by a further section member 4 thereto a cat door member adapted to be outwardly opened is hinged, through lengths of a further section member 5.
  • This door member, in particular, consists of portions of a further section member 6 which are coupled to one another, at a right angle, at the ends thereof.
  • In this connection it should be pointed out that, in this case, a further accessory section member 7 is applied on the corresponding portions of the uprights and base cross-member of the shutter frame. This accessory section member defines on the inner and outer uprights, as well as on the bottom cross-member, outward facing abutments for the outward openable cat door.
  • Moreover, as replacements of the above mentioned section members 1, 2 and 4 section members 8, 9 and 10 can be used which are structurally similar to the mentioned section members but have a suitably enlarged cross-section.
  • More specifically, the perimetrical frame of the shutter can be made both starting from the section members 1 and 2, or 8 and 9, cut at 45° and coupled by means of small brackets (as shown in figure 13) and from the section members 4 and 10, cut at 90°, and coupled by means of self threading screws.
  • In order to obtain an outer aspect similar to that of the conventional wood shutters, moreover, the shutter made by using the subject section member assembly, is of a perfectly coplanar type, that is it does not include any abutments or projecting portions.
  • In this connection it should be pointed out that the shutters made by the subject section members can be either directly mounted on a wall, by outer fittings of the wooden type, or on a fixed aluminium frame, made by using portions or lengths of a further section member 11 having a desired perimetrical line or contour.
  • Finally, it should be apparent that the section members 4 and 10 can also be used as cross members or bands, a further section member 12 being moreover provided adapted to be used as a fixed intermediate upright.
  • From the foregoing discussion it should be apparent that the invention as disclosed fully achieves its main object since the section members according to the invention, and in particular the uprights, can be used for making both genoa shutters and conventional shutters possibility which is not afforded by the wood members disclosed in the mentioned "ENCICLOPEDIA ITALIANA".
  • While the invention has been disclosed and illustrated with reference to a preferred embodiment thereof, it should be apparent that the disclosed embodiment is susceptible to several modifications and variations all of which will enter the scope and spirit of the appended claims.
