Claims (5)

  1. Power device for an engine intended to dig trenches in the earth by cutting, of the type having at least two rotating drum halves which are provided with tools on their periphery and supported by a central core and driven by the shaft of a motor, characterized in that the central core (3) is composed of a vertical plate through which there passes a tubular hollow bushing (7), the axis of which is horizontal and which is coaxial with the drum halves (2) which turn outside the said bushing, which receives inside it a motor (9) for driving the drum halves, this motor being coaxial with the drum halves and having its casing locked in rotation with respect to the bushing (7), an end plate (10) being fastened to each of the ends of the bushing (7) in order to support the bearings (15) of the corresponding drum halves.

Device according to Claim 1, characterized in that the drum halves are driven by a splined shaft (14) which engages by means of its splines (13) both inside the hollow shaft (12) of the rotor of the motor (9) and in the splined orifices (17) of two plates (16) situated on either side of the motor (9), the said plates each being fixed in rotation with one drum half.
  3. Device according to Claim 2, characterized in that the splines (13) of the shaft (14) engage in corresponding splines of the hollow shaft (12) of the motor (9) and in splines (17) of the plates (16) with sufficient play for the only force which is transmitted by the motor to the plates (16) to consist of the torque which drives the drum halves (2) in rotation.
  4. Device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that it has a fixed-shaft wheel gear of which the shafts engage on the one hand with the ends of the shaft (14) and on the other hand with an annular gear (18) integral with the drum halves (2).
  5. Device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that a variable-volume compensation element (21) is arranged inside the shaft (14) to ensure balancing of the pressures on either side of the sealing joints (20).
