  • Synthetic organic abrasives such as urea-formaldehyde, methyl methacrylate melamine-formaldehyde resins, polyethylene spheres and polyvinylchloride can be advantageously used in order to avoid scratching on certain surfaces, especially plastic surfaces. When such "soft abrasives” are used, strong builders can be incorporated in the composition.

  • Especially preferred R groups are n-butyl or isobutyl.

  • Water-soluble CELLOSOLVE® solvents are compound of the 2-alkoxy ethanol class, with 2-butyl ethanol being preferred.

These builders are preferably not used in combination with strong abrasives like calcium carbonate, but are recommended in combination with soft organic abrasives like polyvinylchloride.
  • Metal ion sequestrants of lower metal sequestration constant can advantageously be used in combination with strong or soft abrasives.
  • Those metal ion sequestrants include polycarboxylates, citrates.
  • Preferred builders/sequestrants for use in the present invention are NTA, EDTA, citrates and mixtures thereof.
  • the builders/sequestrant will be present at levels of from 1% to 15%, preferably from 2% to 7%.
  • soaps in the compositions of the invention. Soaps prepared from coconut oil fatty acids are preferred.
  • Soaps are used in amounts ranging from 0.2% to 3% by weight of the composition, preferably in an amount in excess of 1%, typically from 1% to 2% by weight.
  • Thickeners should preferably be included in the compositions of the invention, in order to suspend the abrasive. However, the level will be kept under 2%, preferably from 0.2% to 1.5%. Common thickeners such as the polyacrylates, xanthan gums, carboxymethyl celluloses, swellable smectite clays, and the like, can be used herein.
  • Optional components also represented by ingredients typically used in commercial products to provide aesthetic or additional product performance benefits.

  • Another optional ingredient for use herein is represented by conventional detergent hydrotropes.
  • suitable hydrotropes are urea, monoethanolamine, diethanolamine, triethanolamine and the sodium potassium, ammonium and alkanol ammonium salts of xylene-, toluene-, ethylbenzene- and isopropyl-benzene sulfonates. It is a particular feature of the present invention, however, that stable formulations can be prepared without the need for hydrotropic materials of this kind.

Claims (8)

  1. Produit de nettoyage récurant visqueux, crémeux, contenant un agent tensioactif, un solvant organique, un abrasif et, si on le désire, des additifs classiques, caractérisé en ce que ledit produit de nettoyage est exempt ou ne contient pas plus de 2 % en poids de solvants terpéniques, et en ce que le solvant organique est représenté par la formule:

    dans laquelle R est un groupe alkyle, alcényle ou alkaryle en C₁-C₈, de préférence un groupe alkyle en C₁-C₄, et n est un nombre entier allant de 1 à 4, et en ce que la dureté Mohs de l'abrasif est de 7 ou moins.
  2. Composition selon la revendication 1, dans laquelle R est un groupe alkyle en C₁-C₄, et n est 1 ou 2.
  3. Composition selon les revendications 1 et 2, dans laquelle le solvant organique est le 1-n-butoxypropane-2-ol ou le 1(2-n-butoxy-1-méthyléthoxy)propane-2-ol ou un mélange de ceux-ci.
  4. Composition selon les revendications 1-3, dans laquelle le solvant organique est présent en proportions de 2 à 10 % en poids.
  5. Composition selon les revendications 1-4, qui contient de 1 à 15 % en poids d'un adjuvant actif de détergence et/ou d'un séquestrant d'ions métalliques.
  6. Composition selon la revendication 5, dans laquelle ledit adjuvant actif de détergence et/ou séquestrant d'ions métalliques est choisi parmi le nitrilotriacétate, l'éthylènediaminetétraacétate, un citrate et des mélanges de ceux-ci.
  7. Composition selon les revendications 1-6, qui contient de 0,2 à 3 % d'un savon d'acides gras.
  8. Composition visqueuse, crémeuse, de produit de nettoyage récurant selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, contenant
    - de 3 à 5 % en poids d'un agent tensioactif organique;
    - de 1 à 2 % en poids d'un savon d'acides gras;
    - de 4 à 6 % en poids d'un solvant organique choisi parmi le 1-n-butoxypropane-2-ol, le 1(2-n-butoxy-1-méthyléthoxy)propane-2-ol et des mélanges de ceux-ci;
    - de 2 à 7 % en poids d'un adjuvant de détergence et/ou d'un séquestrant d'ions métalliques, choisi parmi le nitrilotriacétate, l'éthylènediaminetétraacétate, un citrate et des mélanges de ceux-ci.
