Abstract

A filler material for cushions and covers, in particular with spherical fiber aggregates wherein individual cut fibers are intertwined, is described. The fiber aggregates are capable of forming connections with others parts of the filler material. The connection is burr-like and is releasable. This may be obtained, for example, by the individual fiber ends (3) which project from the surface of the otherwise spherical fiber aggregate (1). In this manner a filler material for cushions and covers is obtained, in which the fiber aggregates do not shift or slide excessively within a covering, in particular a pillow, so that an adequate and permanent support for the head of a person is provided.

Description

The invention relates to a filling material for pillows and blankets with, in particular, spherical fiber aggregates according to the preamble of claim 1.

Ein derartiges Füllmaterial ist aus der EP-A-0013 427 bekannt.Such a filling material is known from EP-A-0013 427.

From DE-B-2,301,913 a filler material from molded articles with a round cross-section is known. This filler material is thus formed from spherical fiber aggregates, individual threads having a length of at least 200 mm being used to produce the individual fiber aggregate. These threads are separated from one another by a gas stream, blown into a vessel with a perforated wall, collected therein and rotated by eccentrically blowing a gas stream into the vessel to form a spherical molding. This creates a fiber aggregate that has a greater density in its spatial outer areas than in its core area. Synthetic fibers made of polyamide, polyester, polyacrylic acid, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinylidene chloride, polyurethane or polyvinyl chloride are used for this unit. Different synthetic fibers can also be mixed, which differ in particular in their thermoplastic properties.

As a result of the mutual fastening of the threads made of synthetic material at their contact points, these known aggregates cannot interlock or penetrate one another. Although such a fiber aggregate can have similar properties, in particular with regard to large bulk, elasticity in compression, softness, thermal insulation, low weight and good adaptation to the body to be wrapped, such as down, it has the disadvantage that the individual spherical aggregates move very easily within a pillow or blanket. This shifting occurs particularly when siliconized fibers are used. This is particularly disadvantageous for pillows, however, because when used, ie when a person with the head on it, the aggregates in the cushion cover move and less and less fiber aggregates come to rest in the area of the head during sleep. As a result, such a pillow "lies through" when sleeping and no longer supports the head, which is now hard on the mattress.

The invention is therefore based on the object of providing a generic filling material for pillows and blankets with, in particular, spherical fiber aggregates, in which the fiber aggregates do not move and slide apart too much within one envelope, in particular a pillow, so that the head has a sufficient and permanent shape Support is offered.

This object is achieved by the invention, never characterized in claim 1. The filler material according to the invention is therefore characterized in that the fiber aggregates are suitable for forming a Velcro-like connection to other parts of the filler material by individual fiber ends projecting over the surface of the otherwise spherical fiber aggregate. Particular embodiments of the invention are shown in dependent claims 2 to 12.

The protruding fiber ends of a fiber aggregate penetrate into neighboring fiber aggregates and thus form a connection with them. As a result, adjacent fiber aggregates can connect to one another and free sliding of the individual fiber aggregates against one another is avoided. In the event of a blow to a cushion filled with this new filling material, the individual fiber aggregates are not significantly shifted. On the other hand, the fiber aggregates can also be detached from each other again, which e.g. can be done by shaking a pillow filled with this filling material vigorously. It is also possible to change the arrangement of the individual fiber aggregates or collections of fiber aggregates compared to other collections by grasping a certain amount of fiber aggregates through the cushion cover and / or into the cushion cover.

The desired properties of the fiber aggregates can be further improved if the protruding fibers are hook-shaped at their ends.

According to one embodiment of the invention, a fiber aggregate consists of a mixture of fibers, one type of which protrudes from the spherical fiber aggregate. The protruding fibers can be formed from fibers that are stiffer than the other fibers of the aggregate. These stiffer fibers are not so easy to integrate into the fiber aggregate and are therefore more likely to protrude above the surface.

Although the fiber aggregates are advantageously spheres, they can also have a different shape and e.g. be worm-shaped or ovaloid.

The fiber aggregates can contain wool fibers. In particular, they are balls made from a mixture of wool fibers and awn hair, preferably about 20% of awn hair being present.

However, fiber aggregates made from a mixture of animal hair, wool and synthetic fibers can also be present in the filling material.

According to a special embodiment of the filling material, in addition to the fiber aggregates with protruding fiber ends, other filling parts which are not Velcro-capable are provided. The cohesion of the entire filling material can be adjusted by selecting the mixing ratio between Velcro fiber aggregates and non-Velcro fillers. These other fillers can be fiber aggregates with a substantially smooth surface, e.g. can in particular be spherical fiber aggregates as are known from the prior art. The other filling materials can also be feathers, down or the like. act.

An exemplary embodiment of the invention is shown below with reference to the drawing.

It shows:
Figure 1 is a spherical fiber aggregate, emerge from the shorter fiber ends, and
Figure 2 shows a spherical fiber aggregate from which longer fiber ends emerge.

Both figures show a spherical fiber aggregate 1 in section as part of a filling material for pillows and blankets, which consists of a large number of three-dimensionally intertwined fibers 2. For the sake of clarity, only a part of the fibers 2 is shown in the drawing. The packing of the fibers 2 in the fiber aggregate 1 is of course denser than can be shown.

These fibers 2 can be natural fibers, such as wool fibers, animal hair, or synthetic fibers, e.g. made of polyamide or polyester, or a mixture of these. These fiber aggregates 1 can e.g. be produced as described in EP-A-0.013.427 or US Pat. No. 4,413,030.

The fibers 2 are finite cut fibers and have a length of at least 15 mm. A length range from 40 mm to 80 mm is preferred. The individual spherical fiber aggregates 1 have a diameter between 3 mm and 40 mm. Elongated fiber aggregates 1 can e.g. have a thickness of 5 mm and a length of 50 mm. A fiber aggregate of different sizes can be contained in one filling.

The fiber aggregates 1 shown in the drawing now have, in addition to the fibers 2 forming a spherical shape, further fibers which have their ends 3 projecting beyond the spherical shape. These protruding fiber ends 3 can be hook-shaped, and this hook can be V-shaped or U-shaped. The fiber ends 3 can also be corkscrew-shaped.

The fiber aggregate 1 according to FIG. 1 has shorter fiber ends 3 than the fiber aggregate 1 according to FIG. 2. The protruding fiber ends 3 can have a length which corresponds to approximately half the length of the fibers 2 of the corresponding fiber aggregate 1, ie they have the fibers of Aggregates 1 have a length of 40 mm, for example the fiber ends 3 preferably protrude over the spherical shape with a length of 20 mm. If these ends are corkscrew-shaped, the fiber ends 3, however, appear shorter.

These protruding fiber ends 3 can penetrate into other adjacent fiber aggregates 1 or also into other filling parts and enter into a releasable, Velcro-like connection with these. In particular, corkscrew-shaped fiber ends 3 can also twist with one another in order to obtain a connection between two fiber aggregates. Pointed fiber ends 3 can, however, also easily penetrate into adjacent fiber aggregates 1 or filler parts.

Such fiber aggregates 1 can have a density which is around 1 g / cm 3. Dense fiber aggregates 1 hold better and have fewer fiber ends 3 than fiber aggregates 1 with a lower density.

In this way, a support pad can easily be put together, but it is also easily separable if desired. This results in a reversible cohesion of the fiber aggregates 1 with one another, which cannot be achieved with known fiber aggregates.

The filling material can also other filling parts, such as known non-Velcro fiber aggregates, down, feathers, foam particles or the like. exhibit. These filler parts can form a detachable connection with the fiber ends of the fiber aggregates.
