Description

  • Sieve device comprising at least on rotating round perforated sieve surface on which at least one spiral has been mounted at the material supply side.
  • The invention relates to a sieve device comprising at least on rotating round perforated sieve surface on which at least one spiral has been mounted at the material supply side. A device of this type is known from FR-A-352.227.In this device a number of spiral shaped bristles have been mounted pressing both against the upper side and against the lower side of the flat sieve surface.Of these spiral bristles the upper ones at the one hand serve simultaneously for the uniform distribution of the material to be sieved and at the other hand for removing the sieved off component spiral shaped outwardly to the outer circumference. The lower spiral bristles serve for cleaning the perforations. This structure has a limited sieve capacity, because at the one hand the lower cleaning bristles block continously a not inconsiderable part of the perforations. At the other hand both the upper and the lower bristles, that are in continuous contact with the sieve surfaces, cause a considerable resistance against rotation of the sieve, because of which the energy consumption per unit of weight of the material to be sieved is relatively high, whereas the capacity per unit of time is rather low.
  • The object of the invention is overcoming these objectios and providing a sieve device of the type mentioned in the preamble which has per unit of weighth of the material to be sieved a low energy consumption and a high capacity per unit of time.
  • This object is reached according to the invention,in that means are present for displacing the non-rotatable spiral between a guide position,in which he is suspended during normal operation at a short distance above the sieve surface, and a cleaning position,in which he is intermittingly pressed from the guide position against this sieve surface and cleans the perforations thereof from the product that has stuck in these perforations.
  • In the guide position the material to be sieved is guided by the contact surface, that does not contact the sieve surface but the material present on top thereof, along a spiral shaped course over the sieve surface through which a large capacity per unit of time accompanied by a good sieve action is reached. By pressing the contact surface in the cleaning position with a controllable time interval intermittingly against the sieve surface the perforations are cleaned without unnecessary energy consumption by which the sieving action remains optimal.
  • It is remarked, that from NL-A-7605572 a fast operating sieve is known having a central supply tube above a central cone shaped distributor ,however, without any spiral shaped distributing and cleaning elements being present, because of which the material to be sieved follows a relatively short course over the sieve surface. Although this is a very suitable sieve for many different types of products, such as pressed pellets of animal fodder, with some powdery or granular products the problem arises, that for these products the fast treatment is unsuitable and that they better take a longer course over the sieve surface,as then the sieving efficiency can be improved. With the sieve device according to the invention the course which the product now takes in in the order of 10 to 30 times longer then that without spiral guide.
  • A preferential embodiment of the invention,in which the spiral is suspended from a carrier with a star shaped spider, that is concentric with the axis of rotation of the sieve surface, is characterized in that the carrier consists of an inner ring and an outer ring, between which the the star shaped spider is mounted, which carrier is movably fastened to the fixed frame of the sieve device between the guide position and the cleaning position.
  • The invention will now be further elucidated with reference to the accompanying drawing of some embodiments.
    • Figure 1 shows a partial vertical axial cross section through a sieve device comprising a spiral according to the invention.
    • Figure 2 shows a partial plan vieuw of the sieve device according to figure 1.
    • Figure 3 shows an enlarged side vieuw of a fluid cylinder with lever mechanism for moving the spiral.
  • The sieve device shown in the drawing comprises a body 1 having a fixed lid 2,in which body 1 a substantially flat round sieve surface 3 rotates around a substantially vertical shaft 4,driven by(not shown)drive means. The siev surface 3 is fastened in side a round edge profile 5 having a T shaped cross section, whereas in the middle a substantially cone shaped imperforate, closed distributor 6 is mounted for the uniform distribution of the material to be sieved over the circumference of the sieve surface 3 ,which material is supplied in a vertically downward direction that is indicated by the arrows M.The distributor cone 6 rests below the sieve surface 3 on a support cylinder 8 having a round bottom plate 9 and an internal reinforcement ring 10. According to the invention a spiral 11 is suspended below the lid 2.This spiral 11 is vertiacally movable between a guide position,in which it is placed at a hort distance above the rotating sieve surface and does not contact this surface itself but indeed the material to be sieved that is lying on top thereof, and a not shown cleaning position,in which the lower contact surface 12 of the spiral 11 contacts the sieve surface 3 and cleans the openings thereof from the material M to be sieved.
  • According to a preferred embodiment of the invention the spiral 11 with its turns 17 is suspended from a spider 13,that is formed by an inner ring 14 and an outer ring 15 between which extend a number of arms 16(in the drawing a number of 8)substantially horizontal. This spider 13 it self is suspended vertically movable over a short distance on the in plan vieuw cross shaped lid 2 of the sieve device. This suspension is formed at the one hand near the vertical shaft 4 by a number of pivoted stabilizing arms 18,which are each pivotly connected at the lower end with one of the arms 19 of the cross shaped lid 2.These stabilising arms 18 make an acute angle A with the tangent at that location on the base circle of the cone shaped distributor 6.On the other hand, engagement points for a number of two armed levers 20 have been arranged near the outer circumference of the outer ring 15 of the spider 13,said two armed levers 20 each being pivotable around a pivot pin 21.The other end of the two armed levers 20 is pivotally connected with the lower end of the piston rod 22 of a single acting air operated cilinder 23.
  • When air is fed to the air cylinders 23 they lift the complete spider 13 including the spiral 11 that is suspended therefrom,in such a way, that the contact surface 12 of the spiral 11 is out of direct contact with the sieve surface 3.The upper side of the spider engages the lower side of a stop bolt 24,that is mounted through the lid 2.At the other hand the contact surface 12 yet hangs at such a short distance from the sieve surface 3,that the material to be sieved M,which is present between the windings 17 of the spiral 11,moves through a long spiral shaped course, which is a multiple of the length of the substantially evolvent course that the material M would take when it would not guided by the spiral 11.
  • When there is no air fed to the air cylinders 23 the complete spider 13 with the spiral 11 that is suspended therefrom descends on the sieve surface 3 and presses against it with its own weight,by which a cleaning action is exercised on this sieve surface and the openings present in this surface. In figure 3,this position of the movement mechanism is drawn with interrupted lines, whereas the guide position of the spider 13 with the spiral 11 is drawn with solid lines. According to a first appropriate embodiment the contact surface 12 of the spiral consists of bristle band (not shown)that is exchangeable mounted to the lower side of the spiral, such that it can be exchanged fast and easily after wearing down without the necessity of closing down the complete sieve device for a longer period.According to another appropriate embodiment of the invention the contact surface 12 of the spiral 11 consists of a rigid or somewhat flexible band of synthetic material, which is also mounted fast and easily exchangeable.
  • When one.desires to apply only the guide position of the spiral and the cleaning position is left out of consideration it is for example also possible to mount a band of metal or of a different material on the lower side of the spiral 11. Appropriately the direction of rotation of the rotating sieve surface 3 at the one hand and that of the non-rotatating spiral 11 at the other hand are the same, because of which the centrifugal force and the friction of the sieve surface, that try to give a substantially evolvent course to the Material M to be sieved, support the movement of this material M along and between the the windings 17 of the spiral 11. As appears from figure 2 a number of loose circle sector shaped auxiliary lids 25 have been mounted in addition to the cross shaped lid 2, that is affixed to the outer circumference of the cylindrical housing 1 of the sieve device, which auxiliary lids .25 can be easily removed to gain access to the spiral 11 and the sieve surface 3 and be replaced to close these off again.
