Abstract
Description
- The present invention relates to a characteristic and advantageous mounting array for furniture, chiefly regarding, but not confined to, kitchen furniture.
- The overall object of the invention is to embody a piece of furniture, particularly kitchen furniture, which, although having an aesthetic appearance identical to that of wall-hung furniture, can support very considerable loads in a troublefree manner.
- Another object of the invention is to embody a mounting array for furniture that provides a convenient free space for service pipes and wiring (water, gas, electricity) to pass through.
- The aforesaid objects are attained by a mounting array wherein at least one basic furniture unit, intended for placing against a wall, is supported on the floor only by means of a set of legs mounted rearwardly and at a certain distance from said wall and, to prevent overturning, is anchored to said wall by freely releasable and position-wise registrable anchoring means.
- The anchoring means preferably comprise hooking devices fixed to the piece of furniture; such devices, through the intermediary of pins, are restrained in a freely removable manner to a tie-beam fixed to said wall.
- For preference, said tie-beam has a "C"-shaped cross section and its opposed flanges feature a plurality of pairs of aligned holes each adapted to accept a pin passing through a hook of a relative hooking device.
- The structural and functional characteristic of the invention, and its advantages over the known art, will become more apparent from an examination of the following description, referred to the appended drawings illustrating an example of mounting array embodied according to the innovative principles of the invention. In the schematic drawings:
- - Figure 1 is a vertical section showing the said mounting array; and
- - Figure 2 is an enlarged view illustrating the wall-anchorage system for the single modular units composing the piece of furniture.
- In Figure 1 of the drawings the
numeral 10 indicates a schematic representation of the basic furniture unit, and thenumeral 11 indicates a column unit, both for example forming part of a composite or sectional kitchen, for mounting against awall 12. - According to the invention, the
basic unit 10 is mounted on a set of rear legs 13 (at least two) fixed to thebase 14 in a position such that there is formed between them and the wall 12 afree space 15 suitable for the passage of service pipes and wiring (water, gas, electricity). - The
free space 15 can be closed by applying an ordinary baseboard (not shown) which to such end is provided with elements for hooking onto thelegs 13. - The
legs 13 will be such as to ensure a stable support of thebasic unit 10 on thefloor 16, and thus theunit 10 can support considerable work-loads, for example those resulting from the placement of a working surface, a sink or in any case a content of heavy objects. - The
basic unit 10 is prevented from overturning by being anchored to thewall 12 through the intermediary of a system comprising a tie-beam secured to thewall 12 proximally to the upper surface of theunit 10, to which tie-beam there are connected, by means ofrespective pins 18, position-wiseadjustable hooking devices 19 generally fixed proximally to the shoulders of thebasic unit 10. - More specifically, and preferably, the
hooking device 19 can be of the type described and illustrated in Italian Utility Model Application 20616 B/80 filed on January 29, 1980 in the name of CAMAR S.p.A.. - The
device 19 has anendless hook 20 which is anchored to the tie-beam 17 by means of thepin 18 which traverses it by passing through a pair of alignedholes 21 provided on the opposed flanges of the "C"-cross sectional shaped tie-beam 17. - The body of the tie-beam is fixed to the wall by means of inserts (not shown) introduced between the
longitudinal slots 22 which permit a longitudinal position-wise adjustment of the tie-beam on the wall. 12. - The planarity of the piece of furniture can be regulated both by acting on the
regulation nut 23 of known type featured on eachleg 13, and by acting on theregulation screw 24 of thedevice 19 so as to allow the hook-element 20 to be more or less extracted with respect to the body of thedevice 19 and then locked stably against thepin 18. - Figure 1 of the drawings clearly shows how the
column unit 11 can be simply rested on itslegs 13 and anchored to thewall 12 using the same anchorage system as has been described heretofore. - It will be seen that, with the mounting array according to the invention, it is possible to embody furniture items, particularly for composite or sectional kitchens, that have the same pleasing aesthetic appearance as wall-hung furniture items and, at the same time, have the same stability as those rested fully on the floor.
- A furniture item according to the invention can effectively support considerable loads, both static and dynamic, owing to the combination of the rear legs 13 -practically out of sight- and the system of anchorage to the wall which prevents the furniture item from overturning and which has to support a minimal part of the loads involved.
- In addition, the
free space 15 formed between thewall 12 and thelegs 13 which, even at a distance in time, allows a troublefree passage of service pipes and wiring, is of particular convenience. - Also highly convenient is the releasable anchorage system to the wall of the furniture units, which can be demounted simply by acting on the
screws 24 of thedevices 19 and sliding theconnector pins 18 out of the tie-beam 17. - The anchorage system described above with reference to Figure 2 is presented for exemplifying purposes only, and other systems can be used without thereby exceeding the scope of the present invention.
