Definitions
- the present invention relates to a prefabricated electrical connection device for connection to a busbar.
- connection devices Is commonly used for the distribution of electrical energy, distribution cabinets containing busbars associated with the respective phases and to which are connected the user devices or ensuring the protections of the divisional circuits.
- Known connection devices have the drawback that they require long periods of time for connection to a user device and that they entail a high wiring cost.
- Patent GB-A-1 370 463 describes a set of test terminals formed by a stack of conductive bars separated from each other by layers of insulating material.
- blind holes making it possible to expose the conductive bars.
- fuses held in place by boxes each provided with a test terminal.
- connection device for the conductors of several electrical circuits intended to connect the bars of two busbars separated by air spaces.
- the present invention aims to remedy the drawbacks of the prior art by providing a connection device of particularly simple structure thanks to which the connection of a user device is considerably simplified and can be carried out in a short period of time.
- this prefabricated electrical connection device for connection to a set of bars extending parallel to one another is characterized in that the bars which are parallel to one another, separated by air gaps, are located one behind the other. others, in a direction perpendicular to the planes of the bars, intermediate connection members each provided with an external insulating sheath, are fixed respectively to the bars and extend forward, perpendicular to these bars, the bars are pierced with holes aligned through which extend the intermediate connection members fixed, at their rear ends, to the bars situated behind the first bar, so that the front end of the connection member intermediate fixed to the first bar, and the anterior ends of the intermediate connection members fixed to the other bars from the second happen to be all located in front of the first bar, in the same plane perpendicular to the bars.
- the perforations of the bars are of such a size that the value of the admissible intensity is only very little affected by this passage.
- the front ends of the intermediate connection members are advantageously located in the same plane parallel to the planes of the bars.
- the invention also relates to devices for protection against short-circuit currents, in particular in electrical energy distribution installations.
- the user devices are generally connected to the connection cabinets containing busbars associated with the respective phases of the network, by means of protection devices.
- the protection devices of the divisional circuits are calculated to provide protection against short-circuit overcurrents generated in the network, for example following an accidental short-circuit caused by the breakdown of a user device, by assimilating the paths of current in the connections of the distribution cabinet to short-circuits without any impedance.
- protective devices such as circuit breakers must be designed to withstand very large currents, which requires a corresponding dimensioning of the elements which constitute them, in particular conductors and movable members, arc extinguishing means and the like.
- the electrical connection device of the type defined above in addition to being of a particularly simple construction compared to known connection devices and also simplifies the connection operations between the network and the user devices, has a surprising property.
- connection device when it is connected between the network and a user device, performs the function of short-circuit current limiter.
- the invention therefore also relates to an electrical connection device of the type defined above, characterized in that it constitutes an overcurrent limiter.
- Figure 1 is a side view of an electrical connection device with busbar according to the invention.
- Figure 2 is a partial elevational view of the connection device of Fig 1, the bars being devoid of the intermediate connection members.
- Figure 3 is a cross-sectional view, on a larger scale, of a connector of the rapid type.
- Figure 4 is an elevational view of the connector in Figure 3.
- FIG. 5 is a plan view of the connector of FIG. 4.
- FIG. 6 is an electrical diagram showing the function of overcurrent limiter of the electrical connection device according to the invention.
- the electrical connection device which is shown in Figures 1 and 2, is intended to supply electrical current to any user device which can be connected to a set of vertical busbars in any number, for example three in number. the example described, namely bars 1, 2 and 3.
- the bars separated by air gaps extend parallel to one another and they are arranged one behind the other, bar 1 being the front bar of the succession of bars.
- the electrical connection of the bars 1, 2, 3 with any user electrical appliance, not shown, is effected by means of respective intermediate connection members 4, 5 and 6 which extend horizontally, that is to say perpendicularly on the plans of bars 1, 2 and 3.
- Each intermediate connection member 4, 5, 6 is fixed, at its rear end, to the corresponding bar 1, 2, 3, by means of a screw 7.
- This screw 7 passes through a hole 8, of small diameter, drilled in the bar and it is screwed dan a thread provided in the rear end of an inner tube 9 of an electrically conductive material, for example brass, of the intermediate connection member.
- This conductive tube 9 is covered with a barrel of insulating material 11 which constitutes a protective sheath.
- each of the connection members intermediate 4, 5, 6 carries, at its anterior end, a connection member 12, of any known type, which provides the electrical connection directly upstream of the user device.
- the first intermediate connection member 4 which is fixed to the first bar or anterior bar 1, extends forward, from the latter, on which it is held blocked by the screw 7.
- the second intermediate connection member 5 which is integral with the second bar 2 and which is located under the first intermediate connection member 4, also extends forwards and it passes through a hole 13 drilled in the first front bar 1 below the hole 8 for fixing the first intermediate connection member 4.
- This hole 13 has a larger diameter than that of the hole 8 and it corresponds to the external diameter of the insulating barrel 11.
- the second intermediate connection member 5 has a length greater than that of the first intermediate connection member 4, by the distance between the first two bars 1,2 so that its anterior end, that is to say its connection member 12 is situated in the vertical plane parallel to the bars 1, 2, 3 passing through the front connecting member 12 of the first intermediate connecting member 4.
- the third intermediate connecting member 6 which is the lowest, is fixed, at its rear end, to the third bar 3, by means of a screw 7 passing through a hole 8, and it extends to through the first and second bars 1 and 2, passing through holes 13 horizontally aligned with each other and with the hole 8 drilled in the third bar 3.
- the third intermediate connection member 6 has a length greater than that of the second intermediate member 5 of the distance between the second and third bars 2,3, so that its front connecting member 12 is located below the connecting members 12 of the two other intermediate connecting members 4 and 5 which are located above from him.
- the three connecting members 12 provided at the front ends of the three intermediate connecting or branching members 4, 5 and 6 are located one above the other, at the front of the device , which allows easy access, for the installation of connection cables.
- FIGS 3 to 5 illustrate an embodiment of a connector of the rapid type which can be put in place by a shock, by means of a small mallet for example.
- This connector is suitable for relatively low currents, up to around 60 amps.
- This connector consists of a brass latch 14 of substantially omega shape, to which a hardened steel clip 15 ensures its pinching effect and gives it its quality of contact.
- This latch 14 is engaged by pinching on a bar 16 of rectangular cross section.
- the connector is connected to a flexible wire 17 of appropriate cross section.
- the connector also comprises an overmolded external part 18 which has an upper surface 19 admitting a racking-in shock.
- a brass latch 14 has the advantage that it is made in one piece from strip metal and that it only requires shearing, without causing falls. It can thus be obtained in large series with a very low cost.
- the connector described above allows a reduction considerable wiring time and ensures perfect technology.
- the conductors 1, 2 and 3 have several series of holes 8, 13 so that the electrical connection device makes it possible to connect the conductors in the form of bars 1 to 3 as many user devices that conductors 1 to 3 have series of holes.
- the conductors 1 to 3 all similar to the conductor 1, from a conductive bar, made of copper for example in which are drilled holes 8 of small diameter and holes 13 of larger diameter so that 'to a hole 8 of small diameter succeed two holes 13 of larger diameter and to cut the conductors 1 to 3 in the bar so that the first series of holes located at the upper end of the first conductor 1 is formed of a hole 8 of small diameter followed by two holes 13, of larger diameter, the corresponding series of holes of the second conductor 2 being formed of a hole 13 of larger diameter followed by a hole 8 of small diameter and a hole 13 of larger diameter and the corresponding series of holes of the third bar 3 being formed of two holes 13 of larger diameter followed by a hole 8 of small diameter
- connection device of the invention can thus use for the three conductors 1 to 3 a standard bar which further simplifies the manufacture of the connection device of the invention. Furthermore, such an arrangement makes it possible to connect user devices on either side of the connection device, which may be advantageous for the installation of the equipment to be supplied.
- the conductors 1, 2 and 3 are bare and arranged at distances such that their mutual insulation is ensured by air without it being necessary to interpose between the conductors of elements of separation of insulating material.
- connection device according to the invention has good mechanical resistance, in particular to electrodynamic forces in comparison with connection devices of conventional construction.
- FIG. 6 there is shown the electrical diagram of a supply circuit of a user device connected to the network via an electrical connection device according to the invention.
- the electrical connection device 20 according to the invention is connected to the three-phase network as described with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2.
- a user device 21 is connected to the connection device via a circuit breaker 22.
- the Applicants have found that the device of the invention has a high impedance in the event of a short circuit caused on the user device.
- connection device 20 was up to four times lower than the short-circuit current of which the circuit would be the seat if a conventional electrical distribution device was used.
- connection device of the invention which manifests itself during the appearance of transient phenomena such as the production of a short circuit caused by the appearance of an operating anomaly in the user device 21.
- This increased impedance of the electrical connection device according to the invention is due to the original construction of this device, and probably caused by the crossovers between the connection bars with the network and the intermediate connection members which pass through them.
- connection device which has just been described opens up very interesting prospects in the field of the reduction of the dimensions of the protection device to be inserted in the circuit of use between the connection device and the or electrical charges connected to the sector through it.
- the electrical connection device according to the invention provides a significant limitation of the short-circuit currents makes it possible to place between the device and the loads a protection device of reduced power and therefore of lower cost, which makes it possible to considerably reduce the cost price of supply installations.
