Abstract

Dispositif pour collecter et mesurer l'urine d'un patient et comportant un récipient de mesure transparent rigide (1) divisé en plusieurs chambre graduées voisines (2, 3, 4), qui sont ouvertes au sommet l'une vers l'autre et comportent des ouvertures de sortie inférieures (16, 17, 18) connectées par un dispositif de vanne (19) à une sortie (15) à laquelle est connecté un récipient de collecte, par exemple un sac à urine. Une entrée (5) est connectée à la première chambre (2) et un trop-plein (20) connecté à la sortie (15) est connecté après la dernière chambre (4). Afin de rendre la fabrication du récipient de mesure aussi simple que possible et de réduire autant que possible le nombre de ces parties, tout en veillant à une répartition régulière du poids lors du remplissage du récipient, la première chambre (2) est disposée centralement dans le récipient de mesure (1) et comporte des trop-pleins (8, 9) disposés à différentes hauteurs vers la deuxième et la troisième chambres (3, 4) situées des deux côtés et s'étendant chacune par une partie (13, 14) derrière la première chambre (2). Les ouvertures de sortie (17, 18) provenant de la deuxième et de la troisième chambres (3, 4) sont situées l'une derrière l'autre des deux côtés de la paroi de séparation (14) entre elles et derrière l'ouverture de sortie (16) de la première chambre (2).Device for collecting and measuring the urine of a patient and comprising a rigid transparent measuring container (1) divided into several neighboring graduated chambers (2, 3, 4), which are open at the top towards each other and have lower outlet openings (16, 17, 18) connected by a valve device (19) to an outlet (15) to which is connected a collection container, for example a urine bag. An inlet (5) is connected to the first chamber (2) and an overflow (20) connected to the outlet (15) is connected after the last chamber (4). In order to make the manufacture of the measuring container as simple as possible and to reduce the number of these parts as much as possible, while ensuring an even distribution of weight when filling the container, the first chamber (2) is centrally arranged in the measuring container (1) and comprises overflows (8, 9) arranged at different heights towards the second and third chambers (3, 4) located on the two sides and each extending by a part (13, 14 ) behind the first chamber (2). The outlet openings (17, 18) from the second and third chambers (3, 4) are located one behind the other on both sides of the partition wall (14) between them and behind the opening outlet (16) from the first chamber (2).

Description

URINE COLLECTING AND MEASURING DEVICE
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention refers to a device for collecting and measuring urine from a patient and comprising a stiff transparent measuring container divived into several adjacent chambers, which at the top are open to each other and having lower outlet openings which by the way of a valve means are connected to an outlet to which a collecting container for exampel a urine bag, is connected at which an inlet is connected to the first chamber and an overflow connected to the outlet is arranged after the last chamber.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Through the US-A 4.265.188 a urine measuring device of the above mentioned kind is known. The inlet to the measuring container is connected to a chamber at one of the sides of the container and when the first chamber is filled the urine will flow throw an overflow over to a second adjacent chamber and when this chamber has also been filled the flow will continue to a third chamber by way of the overflow and so on. The disadvantage with this device is the uneven weight distribution wich appears in the measuring container when it is gradually getting filled up with urine from one chamber to the other. In case of insufficient fixation of the measuring contanier, the container will therefore slant which makes it impossible to make a correct reading. The measuring container is also relatively complicated to produce, since it consists of several parts which has to be glued together.
THE PURPOSE AND THE MOST IMPORTANT CHARACTERISTICS OF THE INVENTION
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a measuring container of the above mentioned kind which is considerably easier to produce. It should consist of as few parts as possible and the interior of the measuring container should be so constituted so that it can preferably be shaped with one single moulding tool by means of injection moulding.
The measuring container should besides be so constructed that a more even weight distribution should be obtained when filling the container.
These problems have been solved by the fact that the first chamber is arranged centrally in the measuring container and has on different heights arranged broad overflows to both on either sides arranged second and third chambers, which with a portion each are arranged to extend from behind the first chamber, and that said outlet openings from the second and third chambers are located behind each other on either sides of the partition wall between them and behind the outlet opening of the first chamber.

DESCRIPTION OF AN EMBODIMENT
The measuring container 1 is manufactured of a stiff transparent plastic material and is divided into three graduated measuring chambers 2, 3 and 4 which are open to each other. An inlet 5 for the urine is connected to the first centrally located chamber 2. The inlet is arranged in a lid 6 closing the measuring container 1. The lid shows futher a filter-provided vent opening 7, through which the displaced air can pass out of the container 1.
The first chamber 2 has two on different heights arranged overflows 8 and 9 in the respective partition walls 10 and 11 to the second and third chambers 3 and 4 so that when the first an second chambers 2 and 3 are filled the third chamber 4 will start to be filled through the overflow 9.
The second and third chambers 3 and 4 extend with a portion 12 and 13 each behind the first chamber 2 and the partition wall 14 therebetween is consequently arranged behind the first chamber. The partition wall 14 is shaped, so that out-let openings 16.17 and 18 from from the first, second and third chamber respectively 2,3 and 4 placed in the bottom of the measuring container 1 and connected to an outlet 15 could to place behind each other along an essentially straight line. The outlet openings 16-18 are opened and closed simultaneously by means of a valve 19.
An overflow 20 from the third chamber 4, is furthermore arranged in connection to the partition wall 14 which overflow by way of an outlet opening 21 communicates with the outlet 14. The outletopening 21 is always open independent of the position of the valve. A collecting container (not shown) for exampel a urine bag, should be connected to the outlet 14. The bag can be suspended on hooks 23 on the suspension device 24 of the measuring container 1.
The suspension device 24 is shown in detail in fig.4 and 5 and comprises a vertical part in the form of a pair of resilient shanks 26, provided with outer cogs 25 and which at the upper end terminates into hooks 27 intended to be hooked to a bed for exampel. The shanks 25 can spring into a groove 28 on the backside of the measuring container 1 provided with corresponding inner cogs 29, so that a locking of the suspension device 24 to the measuring container 1 can be provided in optional position. The suspension device 24 presents at the bottom a horizontal portion 30 with a plurality of hooks 23 for suspending urine bags in different sizes.
The heavy urine bag will with this construction not hang in the measuring container 1 but in the suspension device 24, which is to prefer.
In fig. 6 and 7 is shown a two-piece design of the suspension device 24, in which each part has a pair of resilient shanks 26a and b provided with a cogged portion each 25a respective b. The position to the hooks 24 can be adjusted to suit different suspension alternatives.
The measuring container 1 can be manufactured by means of injection moulding of few parts and the complete interior can be shaped in one step with one injection tool, this since both the partition walls 10, 11 and 14 and the outlet openings 16-18 and 20 are reachable from above before the lid 6 is installed and fixed to the measuring container.
The invention is of course not limited to the presented embodiment but a plurality of modifications are possible within the scope of the following claims.

C L A I M S
1. A device for collecting and measuring urine from a patient and comprising a stiff transparent measuring container (1) divided into a number of adjacent graduated chambers (2, 3, 4) which at the top are open to each other and having lower outlet openings (16, 17, 18) which by way of a valve means (19) are connected to an outlet (15), to which a collecting container, for exampel a urine bag, is connected, at which an inlet (5) is connected to the first chamber (2) and an overflow (20) connected to the outlet (15) is arranged after the last chamber(4), c h a r a c t e r i z e d i n, that the first chamber (2) is arranged centrally in the measuring container (1) and has on different heights arranged overflows (8, 9) to both on either side arranged second and third chambers (3, 4) which with a portion (12, 13) each are arranged to extend behind the first chamber (2), and that said outlet openings (17, 18) from the second and third chambers (3, 4) are located behind each other on either sides of the partition wall (14) between them and behind the outlet opening (16) of the first chamber (2)
2. A device according to claim 1, c h a r a c t e r i z e d i n that the overflow (20) of the last chamber (4) is arranged at the partition wall (14) between the second and third chamber (3, 4).

A device according to claim 1 or 2, c h a r a c t e r i z e d i n that the device comprises a suspension device (24) with a pair of resilient shanks (26) arranged to be locked in a groove (28) on the backside of the measuring container (1) by means of cogs (25) or the like or by means of friction increasing means.
4. A device according to claim 3, c h a r a c t e r i z e d i n that the suspension device (24) comprises a part (30) provided with hooks (23) for suspending said collecting container.
