Abstract

The bag is composed by two terminal bag members (1,1') provided each with a side panel (101,101') and with a handle (2,2'), and further provided along their peripheral rim with complementary slide fasteners (3,3') one of which is provided with a slider (4). Intermediate bag members (5,5',10) are provided each formed by a tubular band-like element (105,105',110) closed at one side by an end panel (205, 205') and provided along their peripheral rims at their opposite sides with complementary slide fasteners (6,6'; 11,11'; 7,7') and with sliders (8, 9, 12) for releasably securing them together and to the said terminal bag members (1,1'). At least one of the said intermediate bag members is provided with means (13,13') for securing a shoulder strap (14).

Description

  • This invention relates to bags, and more particularly it has for its object a bag which may be composed by assembling together a plurality of units, of equal or different capacity, so as to obtain each time a final assembled bag which is fitted to the particular requirements of the user.
  • According to one main feature, the bag according to the invention comprised two main bag members, each of which is provided with a side panel and with a handle, each of them being further provided with means for releasably securing them together, and for securing each of them to one side of one or more additional intermediate bag members, which may thus be removably yet firmly secured and assembled between the said two main bag members, thus forming a composite bag.
  • According to a further feature of the invention, the said means for releasably securing the said bag members together are in the form of complementary slide fasteners.
  • According to a still further feature of the invention, the said intermediate bag members are formed at least partially by modular units, thus greatly simplifying the construction of the bag.
  • According to still another feature of the invention, whenever using slide fastener elements for securing together the assembled bag members, the said slide fasteners may be also used for having access to the internal spaces or compartments of said bag.
  • Advantageously, the said intermediate bag members are in the form of substantially tubular elements, provided at one side with a suitable partition member.
  • Further features and advantages of the present invention will appear from the following description of some preferred embodiments of same, shown by way of non limiting example in the annexed drawings, in which:
    • Figure 1 is a perspective view of a bag according to the invention, with the bage members in disassembled condition, and
    • Figures 2 to 9 are cross sectional views of some possible combinations of the bag members shown in Figure 1.
  • With particular reference to Figure 1 of the drawings, the bag shown is composed by two main or terminal bag members 1, 1'. The said bag members 1,1' have the same shape and size, and are each formed by one side panel 101, 101', provided at its top with handles 2, 2'.
  • All along the periphery of the said bag members 1, 1', the toothed tapes 3, 3' of a slide fastener are secured for instance by sewing, one of the said tapes (in the example shown the tape 3') being fitted with a slider 4. As shown, the said fastener elements extend along the whole perimeter of the bag members 1, 1', and they preferably begin and terminate in correspondence of one of the upper corner zones of said members, and have their slider 4 oriented as shown in Figure 1, for the purposes which will be better described later.
  • By reference numerals 5 and 5' two intermediate bag members are denoted. The said members 5, 5' have a cross sectional shape which is equal to the cross sectional shape of the panels 101, 101' of the members 1,1', and are each formed by a tubular band-like element 105, 105' closed at one side by an end panel 205, 205'. The said bag members 5,5' are each provided along the periphery of their front and rear edges with slide fastener elements 6,6' and 7,7', with the relative sliders 8 and 9, the said slide fastener elements being complementary to each other and to the fastener elements 3,3' associated to the bag members 1,1'.
  • The bag shown further comprises a central bag member 10, which like the intermediate bag members 5, 5' is formed by a tubular band-like element 110 having a cross-sectional shape which is equal to the cross sectional shape of the bag members 5, 5', and having a width Z which, in the example shown, is greater than the width K of the members 5,5'. Again, the said central bag member is provided along the periphery of its front and rear edge with the slide fastener elements 11,11', with the element 11' being provided with the slide 12, the said slide fastener elements 11,11' being complementary to each other and to the slide fastener elements associated to the bag members 1,1', 5, and 5'. The bag member 10 is further provided with buckles 13,13' to remo vably anchor the ends of a shoulder strap 14. When the several members of the bag are made from a relatively pliant material, the said buckles 13, 13' are fastened onto a reinforcing strip 15 which centrally encompasses the whole body 110 of the member 10.
  • The slide fastener elements which are associated to the bag members 5, 5' and 10 begin and terminate at the corresponding upper corner zone as the slide fastener elements associated to the bag members 1, 1', and the sliders 8,9 and 12 of the said slide fasteners are all oriented in the same direction as the slider 4.
  • The above described bag members 1, 1', 5, 5' and 10 composing the bag may be assembled together in any desired manner. Hereafter, some examples of assembling together the said bag members will be described, with reference to Figures 2 to 9 of the drawings.
  • According to the example shown in Figure 2, the two bag members 1,1' are assembled together, by means of the slide fastener elements 3,3', so as to form a brief-case C. Otherwise, it is possible to join together the bag members 1-5 (or 5') 1' (Figure 3), or 1, 5, 5', 1' (Figure 4), or 1, 10, 1' (Figure 5), or 1, 5,(or 5'), 10, 1' (Figure 6) or 1, 10, 5,(or 5') 1' (Figure 7) by means of their respective slide fasteners, so as to form medium capacity bags provided with one, two or three inner compartments, as shown in the said Figures. In Figures 8 and 9 two examples of great capacity bags are shown, which are composed respectivelly by assembling together the bag members 1, 10, 5, 5' and 1', and 1, 5, 10, 5', 1'. Whenever a bag member 10 is assembled in the final bag, the bag can be carried not only by the handles 2, 2', but also by the shoulder strap 14.
  • Thanks to the particular arrangement of the slide fastener elements, same may be used also for having access to the internal compartments of the bag.
  • Of course the present invention is not limited to the embodiments shown and it comprises all those modification to an assemblable bag of the kind disclosed, falling within the inventive principle of the invention, as defined by the appended claims.
