Da der Auftragezylinder des Querleimwerkes einen ganz bestimmten Durchmesser aufweisen muß, damit die geforderten Abstände der Queranleimungen eingehalten werden können, würde sich die Notwendigkeit ergeben, bei Formatwechsei in der Tiefdruckmaschine nicht nur die Tiefdruckzylinder, sondern auch den oder die Auftragezylinder der Querleimwerke auszuwechseln. Apparatus for the application of an adhesive, in the form of a transverse gluing, to a web, in particular for the bonding of two very fast-running webs in rotary printing machines, in which apparatus a substantial partial area of the outer surface of an application cylinder (1), rotationally driven about its axis, is surrounded by the web to be glued and the periphery of the outer surface is dimensioned to correspond to the spacing of the transverse gluing or to a whole multiple thereof, the adhesive being guided from a fixed axial adhesive connection to at least one adhesive supply channel (30) which extends along a generatrix, rotates with the application cylinder (1) and is located in an insert (7), and from which at least one series of outlet openings (8) located in the cylinder wall are provided in controlled manner with the adhesive, characterized in that the application cylinder (1) is sub-divided into components in such a manner that a shaft (16) whereof the drive and the mounting remain in the processing machine is provided rotationally fast with a centering body (21) to which cylinder periphery-forming bodies (17, 22) of selectable diameter and having the inserts (7) located therein are exchangeably screwed.
2. Apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that the centering body (21) has a prismatic, in particular right-angled cross section, to which the cylinder periphery-forming bodies . (22) the are screwed from different directions.
3. Apparatus according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the cylinder periphery-forming bodies (22) are constructed as cylinder halves having prismatic internal centering, whereof at least one cylinder half has a guide (28) for receiving an insert (7).

Apparatus according to claim 3, characterized in that both cylinder halves (22) are tensioned with respect to one another by means of screws (23) passing through the shaft (16) and the centering body (21), and are moreover screwed directly to one another (24) at their periphery and to the centering body (21) at right angles thereto (25).

Apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that the body (17) substantially forming the cylinder periphery and having a radial recess (18) corresponding to the diameter of the shaft is rotationally fast with the shaft (16) with the aid of a clamping piece (19) filling the recess (18) instead of the centering body.
6. Apparatus according to claim 1 or to one of the following, characterized in that the adhesive supply channel (30) present in the insert (7) is connected to an axial adhesive channel in the shaft (16) by means of a connecting element extending along the end face of the application cylinder (1).
7. Apparatus according to claim 1 or to one of the following, characterized in that an insert (7) is provided for use in application cylinders (1) of differing diameter, the curved outer side (34) of the insert (7) corresponding to the curvature of the smallest application cylinder (1) provided.

Apparatus according to claim 7, characterized in that the curved outer side (34) of the insert (7) is set back in stepped manner on both longitudinal edge regions and is inserted into the separate step (33) of a filler strip (35) which has a curved outer surface (37) adapted to the curvature of the respective application cylinder (1).

Apparatus according to claim 1 or to one of the following, characterized in that the insert (7) containing the adhesive supply channel (30) has a stop face (39) which is set back with respect to the outer surface of the application cylinder (1) and which has an outlet opening (8) located therein, against which there is stretched from the outside a bridge member (40) which covers the insert (7) and whereof the outer surface (42) corresponds to the curvature of the application cylinder (1), and which contains extensions (41) of the outlet openings (8) of the insert (7) into the outer surface (42).
10. Apparatus according to claim 9, characterized in that the extensions (41) of the outlet openings (8) on the inside of the bridge member (40) have an enlarged diameter and are intended for receiving plugs (43) for closing the extensions (41) of the outlet openings (8).

Apparatus according to claim 1 or to one of the following, characterized in that, for sealing the outlet openings (8) when the application cylinder (1) is in the rest position, a sealing roller (9) which is adjustably arranged on a bent lever (11) is provided, which sealing roller (9) is mounted on an upright leg (12) of the bent lever (11) such that it can be placed in sealing manner against application cylinders (1) of differing size.
12. Apparatus according to claim 10, characterized in that, when two inserts (7) are arranged per application cylinder (1), bent levers (11) associated therewith are connected to a common lifting apparatus (14) arranged between them.
