Description

The present invention relates to a fitting, in particular for an office chair with foot, foot stand or the like, seat and backrest, comprising a frame with fastenings for attachment to the underside of the seat, pivotable holders in the frame for the backrest and the foot stand, a pivoting counteracting members between the frame and the holders and a control member movable from a neutral position in at least three directions against a spring force, which is mounted in the frame in order to trigger one of the two members counteracting pivoting when moving in a first and a second direction, so that this allows the associated holder to be pivoted.

Many people, especially office workers, spend a large part of their working hours in a seated position. Doctors and specialists in ergonometry have found that poor sitting positions are a major contributor to back problems, and that the back muscles and tissues in particular of a person who is bent over a table for many hours are exposed to considerable stress. For this reason, it is important that the work chair is correctly constructed and adjustable so that it meets the needs of the individual person and offers the best possible support for the buttocks and the back in all seating positions.

Office chairs usually consist of a seat that is mounted on a footed support stand that can be lengthened and shortened to adjust the seat height, a backrest that is adjustable in height and can be tilted backwards from an elastic, restrained front position, and a fitting attached to the underside of the seat, through which the seat is connected to the support stand and the backrest via a backrest column attached to the backrest. The control levers or the like are also in the fitting. stored for the various seat and backrest movements.

So that the seat and backrest can be adjusted in the best possible way, it is important that the control levers are easy to operate and reach. Today's adjustment devices often work in stages, which is disadvantageous, since this often prevents or at least complicates an exact, individual adjustment of the seat and backrest to the needs of the individual. In addition, the adjustment devices are sometimes unnecessarily complicated, so that the construction becomes more expensive and is more easily damaged. The placement of a control lever for each seat and backrest movement is unsuitable because it requires the levers to be operated alternately to achieve the desired seat and backrest positions, and this often results in the final position being a compromise.

The invention has for its object to provide a simple fitting of the type mentioned, with the seat and backrest can be adjusted continuously, the actuators are simple and reliable, and in which the important adjustment of the seat angle can be done simultaneously with the adjustment of the backrest . This task is achieved in that the control member triggers both members simultaneously when moving in the third direction.

The invention is explained below with reference to the drawing. Show it
  • Fig. 1 seen the fitting according to the invention from below, and
  • Fig. 2 seen the fitting from one side.

The fitting according to the invention consists of a frame which is generally designated 10 and has two frame side pieces 11, 12 which are kept at a distance from one another by means of frame cross pieces 13, 15. The one cross piece 13 is arranged at a short end of the frame and consists of an L-profile, one flange of which bears against the top of the side pieces 11, 12 and the other flange has the same height as the side pieces 11, 12 and bears against the end edges thereof . The cross piece 13 is welded to the side pieces 11, 12 and extends - as can be seen in FIG. 1 - at a considerable distance from the outer surfaces of the side pieces 11, 12 facing away from one another. Near each of its opposite ends, the cross piece has a bore 14. The other cross piece 15 is in the form of a square tube which is fastened in flat recesses in the top of the side pieces 11, 12 and like the cross piece 13 with the side pieces 11, 12 at a right angle includes. Fastening lugs 16 are welded to the square tube 15, each of which has a bore 17. The square tube 15 has holes 18 near its opposite ends. The cross pieces 13, 15 form fastenings for fixing the frame 10 to the underside of an office chair seat by screwing screws into the chair seat through the openings 14 and 17 and / or 18. The frame 10 is attached to the underside of the chair seat such that its longitudinal center line coincides with the center line of the chair seat, the latter extending from the front to the rear edge of the seat, the crosspiece 15 being located near the rear edge of the seat.

At the front end of the frame 10, a holder 19 is vertically pivoted by means of a bearing axis 20 (Fig. 2). This holder 19 has a through hole 21 which can be formed by a welded pipe section in the holder 19 Festge. The opening 21 serves to receive the upper end of a footed support stand in a conventional manner. The support stand includes a gas spring that allows the support stand to be lengthened and shortened to adjust the height of the chair seat. The control member of the gas spring is located slightly above the surface of the holder 19 and can be controlled by means of a lever 35 of conventional design. At the opposite end of the frame 10, another holder 22 is pivotally mounted by means of an axis 23. This holder is intended to be in an opening 24 take up the backrest column and has a not shown, manually controllable link for holding the backrest column in the set height.

The pivotable mounting of the two holders 19, 22 allows the frame 10 and thus the chair seat to be tilted in relation to the vertical support stand, while the backrest can be tilted in relation to the chair seat. In order to keep the chair seat and backrest in the set tilt position, the holder 19 is connected to the frame 10 by means of a gas spring 25, while the holder 22 is connected to the frame 10 by means of a gas spring 48. These gas springs 25, 48 are of conventional design, i.e. they have at one end a control member 27 (Fig. 1) which releases the gas spring when actuated and enables a relative movement of the two gas spring ends. In this context, gas springs are extremely common and function perfectly. However, it should be emphasized that other means can also be used which counteract the pivoting movement of the holders 19, 22 and can be actuated to carry out a pivoting movement. The gas spring 25 has at one end a fastening lug 26 through which an axis 27 extends, which is mounted at one end of two fastening rods 28 (FIG. 2), the opposite end of which is connected to the holder 19. The opposite end of the gas spring 25, which is movable in relation to the end fastened with the aid of the nose 26, is connected to a link 46 mounted between the side pieces 11, 12. The control member 47 of the gas spring 25 protrudes from the opposite side of the member 46, as shown in FIG. 1. The gas spring 48 is pivotally connected to the holder 22 by means of a bearing axis 23, which is located at a distance from the bearing axis 58 of the holder 22 between the side pieces 11, 12. The opposite end of the gas spring 48, which is movable in relation to the first-mentioned gas spring end, is mounted at 37 in the same way as the gas spring 25, and the control member 38 of the gas spring 48 protrudes from the side of the bearing point remote from the gas spring 48.

The simple and convenient actuation of the two gas springs 25, 48, i.e. unlocking and relocking them after they have been moved to the desired extent is essential for the function of the chair. For this purpose, two axes 49, 50 extending transversely to the frame are rotatably mounted in two mutually opposite openings in the side pieces 11, 12. As can best be seen from FIG. 2, each axis has an arcuate nose 40 and 39, which are are located directly on the control members 38 and 47 of the gas springs. The gas spring ends provided with the control members and the axles 49, 50 in the frame 10 are arranged such that the control member 47 and 38 of the gas springs 25, 48, the axles 50, 49 by actuating the lugs 39, 40 of the axles 50, 49 in one Hold the first position in which the gas springs 25, 48 prevent the movement of the seat and backrest. In order to allow the seat and the backrest to tilt, the axes 49, 50 must be rotated in such a way that the parts 40, 39 press in the control members 38, 47. The axes 49, 50 are rotated with the aid of angled parts 31 and 30 on these axes. Arched lugs 33 and 34 abut against the angled parts 30, 31, which are fastened on an axle 32 mounted in the side pieces 11, 12 of the frame 10. In the embodiment shown, the angled parts 31, 30 of the axes 49, 50 are located on the outside of the one frame side piece, but can also be arranged inside the frame. The axis 32 extends through a transverse, i.e. in the position of use, vertical slot in the frame side piece 11 and is rotatably mounted at 45 and slightly tiltable in the frame side piece 12. At the end of the axis 32 facing away from the frame 10, an actuating handle 41 is attached, which is close to the underside of the seat after the fitting has been installed one side edge of which is located.

The device described above enables extremely simple and advantageous actuation of the gas springs. As seen in Fig. 1, the arcuate tabs 33, 34 protrude on the axis 32 in opposite directions, and when the operating handle 41 is rotated clockwise, as indicated by the arrow 43, the tab 33 becomes the angled portion 30 of the axis 50 pivot upward, whereby the axis 50 is rotated and the nose 39 presses the actuator 47 so that the gas spring 25 is unlocked and the seat can be pivoted in relation to the support stand. When the inclination position desired for the seat is reached, the handle 41 is released and, under the action of the spring force, the control member 47 returns to the position shown in FIG. 2, and the set position is maintained by the locking of the gas spring 25. The nose protruding from the axis 32 in the opposite direction has been lifted off the associated axle part 31, which has therefore not been actuated. If, on the other hand, the operating handle 41 is turned counterclockwise, as indicated by the arrow 42, the latter axle part 31 is actuated, whereby the axle 49 is rotated and the spring 48 is released by the lug 40 pushing in the control member 38 of this gas spring, so that the holder 22 and thus the backrest can be tilted. For the same reason as above, the axle part 30 is not actuated. The gas spring 48 locks again when the handle 41 is released as in the previous case. Since the axle 32 is mounted in a slot in the side piece 11, the handle can also be raised, as indicated by the arrow 44, and on this occasion both axles 49, 50 are actuated by the lugs 33, 34 the angled axle parts 30, 31 push up. As a result, both gas springs 25, 48 are unlocked and the seat inclination can be adjusted simultaneously with the inclination of the backrest, whereby the adjustment of the position desired for the seat and backrest is made considerably easier. Because both the seat and the backrest ne can be continuously adjusted to the desired inclination, the user of the chair has the opportunity to choose exactly the setting that suits his needs.
