Definitions

  • the present invention concerns a wall beam section consisting of two parallel, mutually spaced wall panel attaching sections interconnected by a connecting member.
  • the member connecting the attachment sections is a metal plate integral with the attachment sections, constituting the bottom element in the U shape of the wall beam section.
  • the drawback encumbering previously known wall beam sections of this kind is that they conduct sound through the wall, and regarding fire safety it has to be noted that they conduct heat through the wall.
  • Endeavours have also been made to manufacture the wall beam section of the thinnest possible sheet material ; this again gives rise to the drawback that the attachment section bends inward when the wall panel fixing screws are drilled into the attachment sections. If a partition fitted with wall beam sections of prior art is large in size and the differential temperature between the two sides of the wall is remarkable, the attachment sections of the wall beam sections undergo different expansion, causing the entire wall to curve.
  • the object of the present invention is to eliminate the drawbacks mentioned.
  • the wall beam section of the invention is characterized i n that the member connecting the attachment sections consists of plurality of supporting sections affixed to the margins of the attachment sections with a given spacing.
  • An advantageous embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the point where the supporting section is affixed to the attachment section is insulated with plastic for instance. Therefore, quite remarkable sound insulation of partitions is attained because there is no metallic part to conduct sound from one attachment section to the other.
  • Another embodiment of the invention is characterized in that both margins of the attachment sections are interconnected with supporting sections. Hereby a kind of box-type structure with excellent rigidity is obtained.
  • a third embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the supporting section is affixed to the attachment section with a punched-through deformation juncture. In this way a method for fixing the supporting section and the attachment section to each other is obtained which is very fast and favourable, and easy to automate in the manufacturing process.
  • An advantageous embodiment of the invention is furthermore characterized in that the supporting section is an L-shaped section strip, the ends of its horizontal flange part resting against the inner surface of the attachment sections. It is hereby achieved that the attachment sections are braced against forces acting from the outside in connection with drilling holes for the fixing screws.
  • Fig. 1 presents a wall beam section according to the invention, viewed obliquely from above.
  • Fig. 2 presents a conventional wall beam section, in a partition, in top view.
  • Fig. 3 presents, in a partition, a wall beam section according to the invention, viewed from one end.
  • Fig. 4 presents the wall beam section according to another embodiment of the invention.
  • Figs 5-7 present various types of fixing between the supporting section and the attachment section.
  • the wall beam section consists of two parallel, mutually spaced attachment sections 2 for wall panels 1, said attachment sections being interconnected with a connecting member 3.
  • the member 3 connecting the attachment sections 2 consists of a plurality of supporting sections 3 affixed with a given spacing to the margins 4 of the attachment sections 2.
  • the point where the supporting section 3 is affixed to the attachment section 2 is insulated, for instance with a plastic coating on the supporting section.
  • the rivets 5 by which the sections 2,3 have been interconnected are also coated with insulating plastic.
  • both margins of the attachment sections 2 have been interconnected with supporting sections 3, whereby a box-like structure with excellent rigidity is obtained.
  • the supporting section 3 is an L-shaped section strip 3, the ends of its horizontal flange part resting against the inner surface of the attachment sections 2.
  • the supporting section 3 has been affixed to the attachment section 2 with a punched-through deformation juncture.
  • the partition structure gives substantially better sound insulation than any wall beam sections of prior art because there is no sound-conducting metal between the attachment sections 2.
  • a partition built using the wall beam sections also affords considerably higher fire safety because the heat generated in the event of fire is not at once transmitted from one attachment section 2 to the other attachment section 2.
  • the wall beam section also retains its straight shape. There is a differential temperature of a remarkable height between both sides of the wall.
  • the L-shaped section strip 3 braces the attachment sections against the screw-tightening and drilling forces F required in fixing the fixing screws 6 of the partition panels 1.
