Abstract

A multipoint connector provides a contact support element for holding contact blades staggeredly arranged in two rows of chambers. To simplify the structure of the multipoint connector, the contact support element comprises a first and a second support element being integrally formed with respective housing half-shells which are pivotally connected so that they can be opened, or closed upon each other. The separating surface between the two support elements is arranged such that all chambers are located in the first support element. The contact blades may be inserted into the chambers from the separating surface when the support elements are open. The second support element closes the chambers when it is closed upon the first support element.

Besonders günstig wirkt sich aus, dass alle Kontaktmesser 12 von der Seite her in das gleiche Trägerteil 4 eingelegt werden können und dort in den Kammern 9 Halt finden, bis das zweite Trägerteil 5 auf das erste Trägerteil 4 geklappt ist und die Kammer dabei deckelartig schliesst und dadurch die Kontaktmesserlage sichert. Claims (6)

1. Plug-in connector having a first (1) and a second (2) housing half-shell (1, 2) of plastics, between which there is secured a contact element carrier (4, 5) consisting of insultating material, into the chambers (9, 10) of which, arranged in two rows and offset with respect to each other, contact elements (12) are inserted, connected to the conductors (18) of a multiconductor cable (19), characterised in that the concact element carrier comprises a first (4) and a second (5) carrier part (4, 5) wherein the first carrier part (4) is formed in one piece on the first housing half-shell (1) and the second carrier part (5) on the second housing half-shell (2) in that the joint face (6) between the two carrier parts (4, 5) extends so that all the chambers (9, 10) of both rows are in the first carrier part (4) and in that on each chamber (9, 10) of both rows an insertion aperture remains open for insertion of the contact element (12) from the joint face (6), and all the insertion apertures can be closed by the second carrier part (5) as a cover.
2. Plug-in connector according to claim 1, characterised in that the two housing half-shells (1, 2) are connected to each other in hinged manner.
3. Plug-in connector according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the joint face (6) with depressions (7) and bulges (8) extends in a zig-zag and the chambers (9) of one row are formed in the depressions (7) and the chambers (10) of the other row are formed in the bulges (8).
4. Plug-in connector according to claim 3, characterised in that the second carrier part (5) is provided with bulges (14) and depressions (15) which are in mirror-image with the depressions (7) and bulges (8) of the first carrier part (4).
5. Plug-in connector according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in thatthe chambers (9, 10) have recesses (11) for receiving side lugs (13) of the contact elements (12).
6. Pulg-in connector according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that on the second carrier part (5) recesses (16) are formed to receive side lugs (17) of the contact elements (12).
