Abstract

Une version d'une cigarette résistante au feu comporte une charge de tabac dans un papier de gainage à faible porosité essentiellement exempt d'accélérateur de combustion. Il est possible de réduire l'écoulement latéral de fumée de cette cigarette en traitant le papier de gainage avec de l'eau ou de l'alcool éthylique. On améliore en outre la résistance au feu en déposant sur le papier une substance réduisant la vitesse de combustion linéaire, appartenant au groupe comprenant l'acide citrique, le citrate de magnésium, l'acétate de magnésium; l'acide tartarique, l'acide acétique, l'acide lactique, un sucre, le lait non gras et le lait écrémé. On obtient des résultats similaires avec un milieu conventionnel pour des papiers à cigarettes à haute porosité en traitant ceux-ci avec une substance réduisant la vitesse de combustion appartenant au même groupe. Dans le cas de papier à cigarettes à haute porosité, si une partie seulement de la zone superficielle est traitée, la porosité des zones non-traitées régule l'alimentation en goudron, en nicotine et en oxyde de carbone. Il est en outre possible d'obtenir d'autres améliorations dans la réduction de l'écoulement latéral de la fumée et la résistance au feu en utilisant une couche supplémentaire de papier à cigarettes à haute porosité dans le papier de gainage.

Claims (9)

1. Cigarette comprenant un dose de tabac dans une enveloppe de papier à cigarettes ayant une porosité Greiner d'environ 50 secondes ou davantage, le papier à cigarettes ayant un poids entre environ 10 et 35 g par m2 et étant sensiblement exempt d'accélérateur de combustion autre que la charge, la teneur en charge du papier se situant dans l'intervalle d'environ 15 à 22%.
2. Cigarette suivant la revendication 1, dans laquelle l'enveloppe est préparée en revêtant au moins une partie de la surface du papier à cigarettes au moyens d'eau ou d'alcool éthylique, puis en séchant le papier à cigarettes.
3. Cigarette suivant la revendication 1 ou 2, dans laquelle l'enveloppe est préparée en déposant une substance qui réduit la vitesse de combustion linéaire dans ou sur le papier par revêtement d'au moins une partie de la surface du papier au moyen d'une solution ou suspension de cette substance.
4. Cigarette suivant la revendication 3, dans laquelle l'enveloppe est préparée en déposant une substance qui réduit la vitesse de combustion linéaire dans ou sur le papier par revêtement d'au moins une partie de la surface du papier au moyen d'une solution d'acide citrique, de citrate de magnésium, d'acétate de magnésium, d'acide tartrique, d'acide acétique, d'acide lactique ou d'un sucre ou bien d'une suspension de lait dégraissé ou de lait écrémé.
5. Cigarette suivant l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 4, comprenant une couche supplémentaire de papier en contact avec sensiblement la totalité de la surface de l'enveloppe sur une face de celle-ci, cette couche supplémentaire de papier étant une enveloppe de cigarette ayant une porosité Greiner d'environ 10 à 40 secondes, un poids entre environ 10 et 35 g par m2 et une teneur en charge de l'intervalle d'environ 22 à 35%.
6. Procédé pour former une enveloppe de cigarette, comprenant le revêtement, au moyen d'eau ou d'alcool éthylique, d'au moins une partie de la surface d'un papier à cigarettes ayant une porosité Greiner d'environ 50 secondes ou davantage et un poids entre environ 10 et 35 g par m2, ce papier étant sensiblement exempt d'accélérateur de combustion autre que la charge et ayant une teneur en charge de l'intervalle d'environ 15 à 22%.
7. Procédé suivant la revendication 6, comprenant le stade de mettre une couche supplémentaire de papier en contact avec la surface du papier à cigarettes, cette couche supplémentaire de papier étant une enveloppe de cigarette ayant une porosité Greiner d'environ 10 à 40 secondes, un poids entre environ 10 et 35 g par m2 et une teneur en charge de l'intervalle d'environ 22 à 35%.
8. Procédé suivant la revendication 6 ou 7, dans lequel l'eau ou l'alcool éthylique véhicule une substance qui réduit la vitesse de combustion linéaire et dans lequel la substance qui réduit la vitesse de combustion linéaire est déposée sur ou dans le papier.
9. Procédé suivant la revendication 8, dans lequel l'eau ou l'éthanol véhicule une substance qui réduit la vitesse de combustion linéaire choisie dans la classe formée par l'acide citrique, le citrate de magnésium, l'acétate de magnésium, l'acide tartrique, l'acide acétique, l'acide lactique, un sucre, le lait dégraissé et le lait écrémé, et dans lequel la subsance qui réduit la vitesse de combustion linéaire est déposée sur ou dans le papier.
