Definitions
- the present invention relates to a device for locking the control of an electric device with manual control, this device comprising two parts articulated to each other by means of articulation along a first axis between a release position and a locking position, hooking means arranged on each part along an edge spaced from the articulation means, each part carrying a wing in which a locking opening is formed, the locking openings being arranged to come opposite from each other by sliding the wings one parallel to the other when the device passes into the locked position.
- each part has two wings and there are therefore four holes which are aligned with each other in the locked position, namely a pair orifices on each side of the path of the manual control.
- a padlock can be engaged in each pair of holes, the arch of which directly prevents movement of the manual control.
- This device has many drawbacks. Despite the presence of the four wings and the resulting constructive complexity, it is possible at most to put two padlocks in position to prevent the actuation of the manual control independently of one another. However, standards generally require the possibility of putting three padlocks. Even if one is satisfied with the number of two padlocks, one still encounters in US-A-4 260 861 of the difficulties to set up these padlocks one in front of the other. In reality, one can even wonder if it is possible to engage the second padlock hoop when the first padlock hoop is already protruding in the interval between the two pairs of wings. In addition, between the wings, the device is necessarily hollowed out to allow the movements of the manual control. This obliges to give the wings a good rigidity if one wants to avoid that it is possible to bend them outwards to move the padlock ring (s) from the path of the manual control, which would allow fraudulent actuation this one.
- the padlock does not have the role of directly locking the manual control, it locks the blade in a position where the latter locks the manual control.
- the blade could define several eyes capable of each receiving a padlock locking independently of other padlocks the blade in the locked position.
- the object of the invention is thus to propose a device of the type indicated at the start, which is simple, reliable, and which allows the maximum number of usable padlocks to be freely chosen.
- At least one of the parts carries a stop surface positioned so as to obstruct the actuation of the manual control in at least one of its possible positions when the device is in the locking position, and each wing carries several locking openings which, in the locking position, come simultaneously opposite the locking openings of the other wing.
- the two parts are inclined relative to each other around the articulation means, the abutment surface is moved away from the manual control which can be optionally operated.
- the abutment surface prevents the operation of the manual control.
- the locking device can be held in the locking position by the rod of one or more padlocks extending through the openings, and / or by a wire passing through at least one of the pairs of openings and tightened against the edge of the locking device by sealing.
- each padlock or other locking means engaged in only one of the pairs of facing openings blocks the device in a locking position, in which the abutment surface in turn blocks the manual control in the desired position.
- this device even made of relatively non-rigid material, is difficult to violate because the wings are very effective reinforcing ribs opposing the bending which would be necessary to release the locking means when the padlocks are in place, it that is to say the bending around an axis parallel to the axis of articulation between the two parts.
- the articulation means between the adjacent parts protrude relative to the abutment surfaces when the device is in the locked position.
- the support of the locking device on the manual control is reinforced.
- the wings are each articulated to the associated part, so as to be movable between a prone position suitable for the manufacture of the device, and a service position in which they are brought back. one against the other.
- the locking device can be manufactured at piat and the locking openings are brought into facing by a rotation of the wings around their articulation means.
- At least one of the wings has a positioning stud extending transversely to the plane of the wing, and the other wing has a corresponding hole for receiving the stud. positioning when the device is in the locked position.
- the positioning stud of one wing penetrate into the corresponding hole of the other wing, positioning of the locking device is ensured before the positioning of the holding means such as the padlock or the lead wire.
- the locking device comprises two parts 1, articulated to each other by articulation means 2, attachment means, formed here by lugs 3 projecting from at the ends of the parts 1, are arranged along an edge spaced apart from the articulation means 2.
- each part 1 carries a stop surface 4 and has three locking openings 5 which come opposite the corresponding locking openings of the other party when the device is in a locking position ( Figures 5, 6).
- the articulation means 2 formed by a thin wall in the form of a bridge joining the parts 1, protrude relative to the abutment surfaces 4 (FIGS. 5, 6).
- the locking openings 5 are formed in wings 6, each articulated by a hinge 7 to one of the adjacent parts 1.
- each of the wings 6 comprises a positioning stud 8, extending transversely to the plane of the wing 6 and a hole 9 corresponding to the positioning stud 8 in the other wing to receive this positioning stud when the device is in the locked position.
- FIG. 5 illustrates an alternative embodiment of the device in which the locking openings 5 are closed by a thin partition 10, having weakening grooves 11, so that the partition 10 is fragile in a direction transverse to its plane and relatively resistant in a direction substantially parallel to its plane.
- the locking device according to the invention has been made of a plastic material, more particularly polypropylene which has both sufficient rigidity so that the plate-shaped parts 1 and the wings 6 are rigid, and also sufficient flexibility for a thin wall made of this material to be flexible in order to produce the hinges 2 and 7.
- the device could thus be molded in one piece. Its manufacture is therefore quick and inexpensive.
- FIG. 4 Illustrated in Figures 4 and 5 the establishment of the locking device according to the invention on a switch whose housing 12 has recesses 13 of shape substantially complementary to that of the pins 3 of the device.
- the switch further comprises a tilting manual control 14, framed by the housings 13.
- the two parts 1 are inclined relative to each other around the articulation 2, the wings 6 being in any position, for example folded substantially perpendicular to the parts 1, as shown in FIG. 4.
- the pins 3 are then introduced into the housings 13, then the parts 1 are folded down, while keeping the wings 6 substantially parallel to each other, until the notches 5 of each wing 6 are coincidental.
- the control 14 of the switch is thus opposite a stop surface 4 and, in the case shown in FIG. 5, on the side of the hinge 2 projecting relative to the surface 4.
- the wings 6 are then pressed one against the other and the stud 8 of one wing enters the corresponding hole 9 of the other wing so that the device is temporarily held in the locked position.
- the device is then held more firmly in the locked position, either by the introduction of one or more padlock rods 15, with a diameter close to the opening 5 which has been made in the wing 6, or by means of 'a wire 16 held tight in an opening 5 by a seal 17.
- the parts 1 can only pivot by a negligible amount around the hinge 2 and any attempt to operate the manual control 14 brings the latter in contact with the abutment surface 4 and the side of the hinge 2 without it is possible to completely tilt the control 14.
- the locking means prevent tearing of the device, the pins 3 of which cannot be released from the housings 13.
- the locking device according to the invention is more particularly adapted to a switch comprising two push buttons 18, 19 alternately pressed in or out.
- the device comprises two parts 1, articulated around a hinge 2 and supporting wings 6 in which openings 5 are made.
- one of the abutment surfaces 4 is in projecting from the plane of the other abutment surface 4 and is disposed, when the device is put in place, opposite the button 19 which is in the depressed position.
- part 1 instead of being made of plastic material can be made of a rigid material, such as steel or a light alloy, the hinge 2 then being produced by an axis engaged in sleeves integral with the parts 1.
- the openings 5 can also be produced in wings 6 rigidly connected to the parts 1 transversely to the latter.
- the device according to the invention has been shown with three openings 5, making it possible to introduce three different padlocks according to the safety standards in force, it is possible to provide a single opening associated with each part 1 or on the contrary a greater number of 'openings.
- the profile of the abutment surfaces 4 can be adapted to the shape of the manual control of the electrical device on which the locking device is mounted.
- the hinge 2 has been shown in a central position of the device, provision may be made to offset the hinge 2 or to replace it by any equivalent means allowing movement abutment surfaces 4 to move them away from the manual control when the openings 5 are not kept in coincidence and on the contrary keep the latter close to the manual control when the openings 5 are brought into coincidence and held in this position.
