Abstract

The invention relates to a cartridge case, in particular for cartridge ammunition. In order to simplify the production of the ammunition and to improve the shelf life, it is proposed to produce the propellant charge sleeve 11 from a plastic film. A particularly good mechanical stability of the propellant charge is achieved if the plastic film is designed as a shrink film.

Description

The invention relates to a propellant charge case according to the preamble of claim 1.

In order to reduce the dead load component, in particular in the case of cartridge-loaded ammunition, it is already known from US Pat. No. 2,991,168 to at least partially produce the propellant charge sleeve from a combustible material. In contrast to conventional propellant charge sleeves made entirely of metal, such a sleeve comprises at most one possibly reusable sleeve base made of metal. However, the combustible sleeve parts are produced in a complex, multi-step and therefore expensive process and moreover result in a sleeve material with an unsatisfactory mechanical strength.

The invention is based on the object of specifying a propellant charge sleeve which is particularly simple to produce and which therefore greatly simplifies and reduces the cost of laboring propellant charges, in particular also of the cartridge ammunition.

This object is achieved by the invention specified in claim 1.

Advantageous refinements and developments of the invention emerge from the subclaims.

Dabei zeigt:

The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing. It shows:
  • Fig. 1: a large-caliber cartridge ammunition in side view;
  • 2 shows a cross section through part of the propellant charge sleeve;
  • 3 shows a cross section through a further exemplary embodiment of a propellant charge sleeve designed according to the invention.

Fig. 1 shows a schematic representation in a side view of a large-caliber cartridge ammunition 10 with a projectile 12, a sleeve bottom 13 made of metal and a combustible sleeve 11 and a lid made of an elastic material 14. According to the invention, the propellant charge sleeve 11 consists of a combustible plastic film 20, which envelops the propellant charge powder, which is not visible in FIG.

In einem weiteren weiteren Ausführungsbeispiel der Erfindung wird eine im Bereich der Nahrungsmittelverpackung an sich bekannte Methode angewendet, indem nach Einhüllung desThe plastic film 20 is particularly advantageously designed as a shrink film, which shrinks considerably under the influence of heat, thereby compressing the encased propellant powder strongly and in this way ensures excellent mechanical strength of the propellant charge build-up. Compared to a loosely filled powder, this also enables a significantly higher loading density to be achieved, which brings internal ballistic advantages. In a further further exemplary embodiment of the invention, a method known per se in the field of food packaging is used, in that after the

Propellant powder with the film 20 is sucked air by connecting a vacuum pump. This also causes the film 20 to lie closely against the enveloped propellant charge powder, which results in a structure which is similarly stable as when using a shrink film.

Pressing the propellant charge powder into the propellant charge sleeve 11, which is made of a plastic film 20, is another laboratory option. For this purpose, the propellant charge sleeve 11 is expediently introduced into a mold, on the inner wall of which it is supported during the filling process. With this type of laboratory, too, a higher charge density can be achieved, combined with an improvement in the mechanical stability of the propellant charge build-up.

Plastic films which are set to a desired burn-off behavior by oxygen carriers are particularly suitable. For example, plastic films made of polyethylene, polyurethane, polyisobutylene, polybutadiene and polysulfides are suitable.

Als Sauerstoffträger sind besonders gut geeignet Lithiumnitrat, Lithiumchlorat, Natriumnitrat, Natriumperchlorat, Kaliumnitrat, Kaliumperchlorat, Ammonnitrat, Ammonperchlorat, Ammonchlorat, Hydrazinnitrat, sowie organische Peroxide, insbesondere Dibenzolperoxid, Nitrylperchlorat, Hexanitroäthan.Lithium nitrate, lithium chlorate, sodium nitrate, sodium perchlorate, potassium nitrate, potassium perchlorate, ammonium nitrate, ammonium perchlorate, ammonium chlorate, hydrazine nitrate and organic peroxides, in particular dibenzene peroxide, nitryl perchlorate, hexanitroethane, are particularly suitable as oxygen carriers.

Combined oxygen carriers such as boron / potassium nitrate, zirconium / barium nitrate and mixtures of the metals magnesium, boron and aluminum with the oxidizers mentioned above are also particularly suitable for the propellant charge sleeve.

Up to 50%, most suitably between 10 to 20%, of the aforementioned organic peroxides and the combined oxygen carriers can be contained in the plastic film.

If necessary, in a further exemplary embodiment of the invention, the stability of the propellant charge sleeve can be increased further by covering the plastic film 20 with an outer coating 21 'made of polyurethane, as the cross-sectional image of a propellant charge sleeve 11 shown in FIG. 3 shows. In order to increase the combustibility of this outer layer 1 ', this is expediently mixed with a mixture of e.g. B. boron potassium nitrate or other aforementioned oxygen carriers.

Although the invention has been explained above primarily on the basis of large-caliber cartridge ammunition, it can also be used with equally good success and corresponding savings possibilities even with small-caliber ammunition and to encase propellant charges for artillery shells.

In addition to the greatly simplified production, the invention also offers further advantages, since the storage stability of the propellant charges can be increased by selecting gas and moisture-tight film materials.

If transparent foils or at least partially transparent foils are used, it is also possible to check the condition of the propellant charge in laboratory without destroying the propellant charge sleeve.

In one exemplary embodiment of the invention, cartridge ammunition (FIG. 1) is used with the foil 20 according to the invention configured propellant charge sleeve 11. For this purpose, the film 20 is in the form of a hose which is fastened on the one hand to the rear of the projectile 12 and on the other hand to the sleeve base 13. These fastenings can preferably be brought about by gluing or welding, possibly also by screwing, spraying or by shrink fit of the film. Possibly. can be attached to the lid 14 simultaneously with the attachment of the film 20 to the sleeve bottom 13. The propellant charge can then be introduced into the propellant charge sleeve 11. Bulk powder can expediently be filled in through the opening provided in the case base 13 for the propellant charge lighter, while tube powder is to be filled into the case 11 before the case base 13 is fastened. The propellant charge sleeve 11 is then shrunk or evacuated. When evacuating, the opening of the propellant lighter can be used to extract the air.

In comparison to conventional propellant charge sleeves made of metal, the propellant charge sleeve 11, which is completed by shrinking or evacuating, has a highly irregular external shape. However, this proves to be an advantage from the inside ballistic point of view, since this facilitates the combustion of the film 20.

Another exemplary embodiment of the invention is explained with reference to FIG. 4. This is a propellant charge 40 of modular construction, in which propellant charge portions 43 are arranged in portions in a shrink tube 42 separated from one another. The propellant charge portions 43 are in turn housed in an outer shell 41, which is also made of plastic film.

Depending on requirements, all propellant charges 43 arranged in a shell 41 can be used simultaneously or only partially. For this purpose, the outer shell 41 is designed to be easy to tear open, so that any number of propellant charges 43 that are not required can be removed. In order to facilitate the separation from one another, the connecting pieces 44 are perforated between the foil casings enveloping the propellant charges 43 and are therefore easily separable.

In order to facilitate the handling of such propellant charges, in particular with regard to the amount of propellant charge to be selected, the hose pieces 42 enveloping the propellant charges 43 can expediently be provided with different colors and / or an imprint, e.g. B. be marked with a number.

Of course, analogous to the cartridge ammunition described in FIG. 1, it is also possible with separate loads to achieve a special shape of the propellant charge sleeve, which is adapted to a propellant charge space. The simplest way to do this is to place the film for the filling process in a shape adapted to the cargo space.
