Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a watch strap, as well as the watch equipped with such a strap, which is more particularly, but not exclusively, intended for people who tinker.
  • Patent FR-A-2,308,326 describes the attachment of a watch to a basic bracelet using a mounting element which passes around the bar and the two ends of which, after having passed through slots provided in the bracelet, are connected using a pin to the underside of it.
  • This mounting element has a narrow portion, 8 mm wide, and a wide portion, 18 mm, which are connected by a transition portion carrying graduations indicating its width. The element is correctly positioned when the scale corresponding to the width of the bar is located on it.
  • Such an element can, of course, make it possible to measure dimensions, but its use requires its dismantling which is far from easy.
  • Patent FR-A-339,650 describes a pocket watch comprising a ribbon forming a graduated ruler, which is wound around a barrel.
  • a product is, in reality, the combination of a watch and a tape measure.
  • the present invention aims to provide a simpler solution to the problem posed by the frequent need in everyday life to measure a dimension.
  • a watch strap made of a flexible material, is provided with means which make it possible to measure dimensions, while these means remain attached to the watch.
  • the watch which is equipped with such a bracelet itself comprises means of measurement and / or makes it possible to deliver useful indications in particular to DIY enthusiasts, without it being necessary to dismantle the bands which constitute the bracelet.
  • an analog display watch 10 equipped with a bracelet made up of two flexible bands 11 and 12 comprising, for the attachment of the watch to the wrist, respectively a buckle 13 and a series of holes 14.
  • the two flexible bands of the bracelet are advantageously made of elastomer or a plastic material such as PVC (polyvinyl chloride).
  • the watch case is also preferably made of plastic and the two bands of the bracelet are attached to it by hinges similar to those described in patent CH-A-647,917.
  • the two flexible bands of the bracelet 11 and 12 each carry, along the same side, graduations in millimeters and centimeters 15 and, next to these, indications 0,1,2 ... 17, similar to those of classic graduated rules.
  • the graduations and the indications of the two bands take account of the distance between their ends connected to the watch 10.
  • the graduations of the band 11 end at the value 7.5 and those of the band 12 start at the value 11.5 because watch 10 separates their ends by 4 cm.
  • the watch and its bracelet thus constitute a 17 cm graduated ruler, the central portion of which is occupied by the watch, however, is free of graduations.
  • the two bands 11 and 12 forming the bracelet are, moreover, each pierced with a series of circular openings 16 of different diameters.
  • Next to each opening is an indication of its diameter, expressed in millimeters. So that these openings contribute to enriching the aesthetics of the bracelet, their diameters are increasing from the free ends of the bands towards the watch.
  • the strip 11 carries the holes of diameters 0.5 - 1 - 1.5 - 2 - 2.5 - 5 - 7 and 9 mm
  • the strip 12 carries the holes of diameters 3 - 3.5 - 4 - 6 - 8 and 10 mm.
  • the openings 16 are offset towards the edge of the strip.
  • the bracelet thus constitutes, thanks to its circular openings of different sizes, a tool for measuring the diameter of small cylindrical objects, such as drills, taps, screws, bolts or knitting needles.
  • the end 17 of the strip 12, which is intended to penetrate the loop 13, has a profile whose width, over a distance of approximately 25 mm, gradually decreases before ending in a rounding.
  • This part of the bracelet has graduations 18 next to which are placed inscriptions indicating the corresponding width of the bracelet. In the example described, the widths indicated range from 10 to 16 mm.
  • the end 17 of the strip 12 thus constitutes a gauge allowing the diameter of the holes to be measured.
  • the various indications worn on the bracelet are made by molding, overmolding or printing.
  • the watch itself carries on its dial 19 a graduation network of angles 20 centered on the axis of the hands, next to which are marked inscriptions giving the value of these angles.
  • the watch face thus constitutes a protractor allowing the measurement and the transfer of angles.
  • watch 10 includes, under its dial 19 pierced with a window 21, a disc 22 whose rotation can be controlled by the control rod of watch 23.
  • This disc has a certain number of indications such as, for example , correspondences between the diameter on thread M of a screw and the drilling diameter P.
  • the disc 22 replaces the disc normally used as a date indicator.
  • the mechanism for driving this disc by the movement of the watch is absent, only the system remaining making it possible to transmit the rotation of the control rod 23 to the disc 22. This structure being well known, it has not to be described here in detail.
  • the invention thus makes it possible to have a wristwatch which, at the same time, serves as a graduated ruler and as a protractor, makes it possible to measure the diameter of holes and of cylindrical objects and can provide a certain number of useful indications for handymen.
