Abstract

The seat member and the back member are adjustably mounted at each side of the chair in two support bearings or pivot joints of a chair base and are connected to one another by a third pivot joint. The seat member comprises an extension in the direction of the back member while the back member is maintained in spaced relationship to the third pivot joint by part of a lower strut portion on each side of the chair. A spring element is mounted at its ends on the free end of the extension part of the seat member and on the back member. In transition from the working position (full lines) into the relaxed or reclined position (broken lines), a relative motion is superimposed upon the pivoting motions of the seat member and of the back member. This relative motion produces unequal vertical downward displacements of the free end of the seat extension and of the backrest portion where it joins the strut portion. The action of this relative motion avoids the otherwise inevitable stretch effect on the occupant of the chair without requiring the supplementary linkages employed in known constructions.

Description

The invention relates to a chair with a bearing part, on which a seat part is supported by a joint and a backrest part having a backrest and a backrest lever by the backrest lever in a further joint, one of the joints being a thrust swivel joint and seat part and backrest part a swivel joint are coupled to each other, stand under the action of at least one spring element and can be tilted into different positions, the seat part and backrest part executing a relative movement to one another which is superimposed on their pivoting movement when they change to another position.

A chair according to the preamble of claim 1 is known from WO-A-8 300 610 (Fig. 1).

Chairs in which both the seat part and the backrest part can be tilted are known in various designs. On the one hand, these allow the user to take up a work position in which the backrest is approximately vertical and supports the user in the back, and on the other hand to take a rest position. The chair in this case has a seat part and a backrest part which are coupled to one another and can be inclined relative to a bearing part. The bearing part is usually designed as a base on which the seat part and the backrest part are pivotably mounted.

The comfort afforded by such chairs is impaired by the fact that when changing to a different sitting position, especially when changing from the working to the resting position, an undesirable pull-out effect occurs which can only be avoided by not using the backrest during the change of position.

Various proposals have become known in order to avoid the “pull-out effect”. Among these is a known version (WO-A-8 300 610), in which the known embodiment is based on a tiltable seat part and a tiltable backrest part coupled to the seat part. In order to avoid the "pull-out effect", an additional linkage is provided which is coupled to a back part which can be displaced perpendicularly to the backrest part. If the position of the chair is changed, the back section performs an additional movement in relation to the backrest section. If the back cushion is now attached to the backrest part, the desired avoidance of the pull-out effect is achieved.

However, it cannot be overlooked that this known embodiment represents a rather complex solution. In particular, the backrest, which is displaceable relative to the backrest part and controlled by the additional linkage, is a construction which is produced from a relatively large number of parts which have to be machined correspondingly precisely.

This is where the invention comes in, which is based on the object of designing a chair of the type described at the outset in such a way that the “pull-out effect is avoided without requiring more parts than is necessary for the known simple design described at the outset. This object is achieved according to the invention in that the seat part has an extension part which extends beyond the swivel joint against the backrest and the backrest lever has an extension arm connecting the backrest to the swivel joint.

Particular embodiments of the invention are specified in dependent claims 2-9.

The invention is shown in the drawing in one embodiment and described below. Show it :
  • FIG. 1 shows a kinematic equivalent image of a chair according to the invention,
  • Figure 2 is a schematically illustrated constructive solution for a chair with the kinematics according to Fig.1.
  • 3 shows a section along the line III-III in Fig. 2 and
  • 4 shows a floor plan, partly in section, of the chair according to FIG. 2.

Fig. 1 shows the kinematic equivalent image of a chair without a base frame, the latter being replaced by two fixed bearing points 1, 2. In the bearing 1 a seat part 3 is mounted by means of a thrust swivel 4. In the bearing point 2, a backrest part 6 is mounted by means of a swivel joint 5. The backrest part 6 is composed of a backrest 7 and a backrest lever 8, the backrest lever 8 being coupled to the seat part 3 by means of a swivel joint 9. It is essential that the seat part 3 has an extension part 10 which extends from the joint 9 to the area of the backrest 7. The backrest lever 8 has an extension arm 11 which extends from the joint 9 against the backrest 7 in an analogous manner to the extension part 10 and carries it. The extended position of the individual parts shown in FIG. 1 corresponds to the working position, ie the backrest 7 assumes an approximately vertical position to support the back of the user. So that this position is assumed automatically, the free end 12 of the extension part 10 with the backrest 7 by a spring element 13, for. B. a mechanical compression spring element or a gas pressure spring connected. However, the arrangement of one or more spring elements 13 need not lie exclusively in the area of the backrest 7. The seat part 3 and the backrest part 6 can also be supported in a different way by the spring element or the spring elements 13, for. B. in that one end of the suspension is supported on the base and the other end acts either on the backrest part 6 or the seat part 3. This arrangement is appropriately made so that it does not adversely affect the appearance of the chair becomes.

The rest position of the chair is shown in dashed lines in Fig. 1, it being apparent that, for. B. the backrest part 6 at the transition of the extension arm 11 to the backrest 7 experiences a greater lowering A than is the case with the lowering a of the free end 12 of the seat part 3. Both parts 3. 6 thus perform a swiveling movement at the transition from the working position to the rest position, but this is still superimposed on a relative movement which leads to different reductions A, a of the parts 3, 6. By appropriate selection of the length of the extension part 10 and the extension arm 11, this superimposed relative movement can be designed in such a way that the “pull-out effect” mentioned at the outset is practically avoided.

In Fig. 2-4 ist die konstruktive Lösung des kinematischen Ersatzbildes nach Fig. 1 dargestellt, wobei für gleiche Teile dieselben Bezugszahlen wie in Fig. 1 verwendet werden.2-4 shows the constructive solution of the kinematic substitute image according to FIG. 1, the same reference numbers as in FIG. 1 being used for the same parts.

In Fig. 2, the two fixed bearing points 1, 2 are replaced by a bearing part 20, each having a bearing leg 22 arranged on both sides of the plane of symmetry 21 of the chair, which is supported by a cross strut 23 on a bearing head 24 which with a vertically located pivot shaft 25 is connected. The bearing part 20 can, for example, be part of a base frame (not shown), the center column of which is supported on a base and is the mounting for the pivot shaft 25. In Fig. Is dash-dotted a lying on the seat part 3 seat 26, z. B. a seat cushion shown. In the same way, a back portion 27, z. B. a back cushion, shown in dash-dot lines. The parts 26, 27 make the movements of the corresponding parts 3, 6. The parts 3, 6, as has already been shown in FIG. 1, execute different lowering paths A, a.

The seat part 3 is a frame, see FIG. 4, which is composed of two hollow profile legs 30 arranged symmetrically to the plane of symmetry 21 of the chair, which are connected to one another by a cross member 31. The hollow profile legs 30 are formed from two nested U-profiles 32, 33, see FIG. 3, the lower profile 33 forming a recess 34, into each of which a backrest lever 8 fits. Two backrest struts 35 adjoin the two backrest levers 8, which together with a backrest cross-member 36 connecting the two backrest struts 35 and the backrest levers 8 form the frame-shaped backrest 7. On the crossbar 31 and the backrest crossbar 36, a pair of webs 37, 38 is fastened, the webs of which have bores for receiving bolts with which the spring element 13 is held at its ends.

In the working position according to FIGS. 1 and 2, not only are the backrest levers 8 in the recesses 34 of the hollow profile legs 30, but the two backrest struts 35 project in the region of their transition from the backrest levers 8 into a recess 39 at the back end of the hollow profile legs 30. Each after the formation of the recesses 34, 39, these represent a stop for the working position of the backrest part 6.

The design of the chair shown in Fig. 2-4 is not only a simple one. but also represents a space-saving solution. since the backrest levers 8 are at least partially within the hollow profile legs 30 of the seat part 3. 2, the rest position of the chair is also shown in dashed lines, the unequal lowering lengths A, a of the hollow profile legs 30 and the backrest lever 8 also being recognizable.

The embodiment of the chair shown in FIGS. 2-4 has spaced hollow profile legs 30 and backrest levers 8. If this distance is now made smaller and smaller, an embodiment is also conceivable in which the hollow profile legs 30 and the backrest levers 8 each merge into a single part; if necessary, recesses would have to be provided for the bearing head 24 in the seat part leg and for the spring element 13 in the backrest part 6. The seat section 26 and the back section 27 can be supported on this one-leg construction without difficulty.

For the chair design described above, closed steel tubes in oval shape are used, see e.g. B. the backrest lever 8, the backrest struts 35, the cross members 31, 36 and the bearing legs and cross struts 22, 23 of the bearing part 20. However, other profiles made of steel can also be used. Cast or forged steel parts could be used in particular in the aforementioned one-leg construction. Another modification of the chair described is that a torsion spring is used as the spring element. which can be installed in one of the joints 4, 5. Finally, the joint 5 could also be designed as a thrust rotary joint, while the joint 4 is a rotary joint. The thrust distances are in any case relatively small, i. H. only a few millimeters, since the swivel joint 9 is located in the apex region of the leg formed by the seat part 3 and the backrest lever 8.
