Abstract

A training cartridge has a plastic projectile or plastic dummy projectile wherein the projectile or dummy projectile is integrally molded on a synthetic resin sleeve open at the rear end. The sleeve is inserted in a cartridge case of metal open at its front end. The cartridge case with case shoulder and case neck formed thereon is made to be open also at the rear end so that the synthetic resin sleeve can be inserted from the rear end into the cartridge case in close contact with the inner wall thereof. A separate metallic bottom piece is inserted into the rear end of the cartridge case, sealing the case tightly toward the rear.

Description

The invention relates to an obstruction cartridge of the type specified in the preamble of claim 1.

Exercise cartridges with a plastic bullet are known in various designs. A cartridge is widespread, which has a base piece made of metal and a sleeve-shaped cartridge body with a one-piece molded projectile made of plastic. When the shot is fired, the bullet tears off at the barrel mouth and is driven by the gun barrel by itself. In addition, maintenance cartridges are known in which a projectile made of plastic is placed on or inserted into a cartridge case made of metal. Both versions have advantages and disadvantages. In the former case, it is the relatively low durability of the plastic sleeve, in the latter case the poor fit of the plastic bullet in the metal sleeve, which may not fully meet the requirements of the individual case and can lead to delivery problems in the weapon or a reduced accuracy of the shot.

Furthermore, an obstruction cartridge is known in which a plastic sleeve is inserted from the front end into a metal cartridge case which is open at the front end and closed at the rear end. The plastic sleeve is in turn open at the rear end and provided at the front end with a hollow projectile that bursts at the top when it is fired. The plastic sleeve lies evenly against the inner wall of the cartridge case and is held in this by the front edge thereof being flanged to form a sleeve shoulder against an annular bead of the plastic sleeve. As has been shown, however, under unfavorable circumstances, when the shot is fired, irregular tears in the area of the projectile replica or "shooting out" of the plastic sleeve from the metal cartridge can occur. Corresponding to this applies if a projectile made of plastic is to be separated instead of the projectile.

The invention has for its object to design a practice cartridge of the type specified in the preamble of claim 1 so that, in particular, the weapon function and possibly also the shot accuracy are improved with the simplest possible manufacture.

This object is achieved according to the invention by the training according to the characterizing part of claim 1. This embodiment ensures, on the one hand, the required durability of the maintenance cartridge and the perfect fit of the plastic bullet or the plastic bullet replica in the metal sleeve and, on the other hand, by the metal sleeve and its sleeve neck simple manufacture, since the metal sleeve including its shoulder and neck can be produced in a relatively very simple manner and can be connected to the separate base piece. This also ensures that Even under very unfavorable circumstances, a clean separation of the projectile from the sleeve mouth of the plastic sleeve is achieved, as a result of which the plastic projectile has good accuracy. In addition, the tearing off of parts of the sleeve neck or the propellant powder space of the plastic sleeve during the shot, which could contaminate, functionally block or damage the weapon, for example, is avoided. This also applies to an obstruction cartridge, in which instead of the tearing projectile, a projectile replica that remains connected to the plastic sleeve during the shot and bursts at the tip is provided.

The cartridge case is a thin-walled metal case made of e.g. Steel, brass or aluminum, which has the outer shape of a caliber-compatible cartridge without a bullet, but no cartridge bottom. Such sleeves can preferably be produced by deep drawing metal strips in suitable follow-on tools.

The plastic sleeve has at the front end a caliber-compatible plastic bullet or a corresponding projectile replica and is designed in its sleeve-shaped area that receives the propellant charge powder in its outer contour so that / can be inserted into the metallic cartridge case from its rear end and on the inner wall including the shoulder and neck lies tightly over the entire surface.

After filling the propellant charge powder into the cartridge case or the plastic sleeve, the separate base piece made of metal is inserted into the rear open end of the cartridge case and connected to it by pinching, gluing or in another known manner.

To fix Um.die plastic sleeve in addition to the cartridge case and to improve the seal against the powder gases in the region of the rear end of the plastic sleeve, yet 'further, the formation of turns of claim 2 to be advantageous. For this purpose, for example, the front edge of the base piece can abut against the rear edge of the plastic sleeve or can also overlap it on the inside.

The invention is shown in the drawing in an exemplary embodiment in longitudinal section and is explained in more detail below with reference to this.

Das Bodenstück 8 liegt dabei mit seinem vorderen Ende 11 am hinteren Ende 12 der Kunststoffhülse 5 an.In the metallic cartridge case 1 with the conical sleeve shoulder 2 and the sleeve neck 3, the plastic sleeve 5 with the integrally molded plastic projectile 6 is inserted from the rear end 4. After filling the propellant charge powder 7, the separate metallic base piece 8 with the igniter 9 is inserted into the rear end 4 of the cartridge case 1 and connected tightly and firmly to it via the groove 1o created by pinching. The base piece 8 rests with its front end 11 on the rear end 12 of the plastic sleeve 5.

The plastic sleeve 5 with a plastic bullet 6 is made, for example, of polyethylene or polypropylene. You and the cartridge case 1 are preferably matched to one another so that their neck 3 with its front edge, the sleeve mouth 13, extends to the rear end 14 of the projectile 6 and is at least substantially flush with it. This ensures a particularly smooth demolition of the projectile.

The advantages achieved by the invention are that a plastic bullet that meets the external ballistic requirements in connection with a plastic sleeve can be connected to the metallic cartridge case in a comparatively simple, yet reliable manner in terms of production technology, and the projectile is separated cleanly from the case mouth, thereby achieving good accuracy. Furthermore, as with an obstruction cartridge with a projectile replica, no plastic parts are torn off the neck / shoulder part or propellant powder space, which could impair the weapon function, for example.
