Abstract

The invention relates to an exchangeable stuffing cassette for a cassette receiving device of a typewriter or printing machine, having a stuffing space (4), in which an ink ribbon (3) is driven out and to the stuffing space (4) by an external drive (6, 7, 8, 9). is transported. Description

The invention relates to a stuffing cassette according to the preamble of patent claim 1.

In newer typewriters and similar devices, cartridges are used which contain the ink ribbon required to write on the recording medium.

Various embodiments are known for these ribbon cassettes. The ribbon can be wound up in the cassette on a fixed or slidable supply reel, from which it is transported to a fixed or slidable take-up reel. Due to the spools, guides and drive used, these ribbon cartridges, which are thrown away after use, are relatively complex.

Another known ribbon cartridge is the stuffing cartridge. The ribbon is housed in a so-called stuffing room. It is pulled out of this on one side and stuffed into it on the other side by a drive. In the simplest case, the drive consists of two drive rollers, between which the ribbon is transported.

There are two versions of the stuffing cassette, namely with and without their own drive, i.e. the latter with external drive. The stuffing cassette with external drive is therefore cheaper, but has the disadvantage that the hanging ribbon must be inserted by hand into the drive of the cassette holder. There is a risk that the hands of the operating personnel are soiled with paint.

It is an object of the invention to provide a stuffing cassette with an external drive, in which the ink ribbon is largely protected against contact when the stuffing cassette is inserted into the cassette receiving device of the typewriter.

This object is achieved by the features specified in the characterizing part of patent claim 1.

A particular advantage of the stuffing cassette according to the invention is that even when the same is removed from the typewriter, touching the ink ribbon is largely excluded.

In the figures, a stuffing cassette is shown, which consists of a lower part 1 and a cover 2. During the writing operation, an ink ribbon 3 is pulled out of a stuffing space 4 on one side (on the right in FIG. 1) and stuffed on the other side (on the left in FIG. 1). In the lower part 1 there is an opening 5 through which the drive of the typewriter protrudes into the stuffing box. The drive consists, for example, of a stationary pressure roller 6 and a movably mounted pressure roller 7 which is mounted on a drive rocker 8. The drive rocker 8 has two stable positions, a pivoted and an applied, which are adopted on the basis of a spring 9, for example a dead center spring. A tension spring is shown here as a dead center spring; a leaf spring or torsion spring is also possible. In the applied position, the two pressure rollers 6, 7 are pressed against one another by the spring force, and the ink ribbon 3 in between is thus transported. The drive rocker 8 can be pivoted manually or automatically from one position to the other.

In the new state, the stuffing space 4 is closed on the side on which the ink ribbon 3 is stuffed. For closing, for example, a pivotably mounted flap 10 is used, which in this state is locked in a notch 11 located in the lower part 1. When the stuffing cassette is inserted into a cassette receiving device (not shown in more detail here), the taut ink ribbon 3 is guided between the pressure rollers 6, 7 of the drive. A slot 12, which is located in the flap 10, is used to tighten the ink ribbon 3. The slot 12 is only effective as long as the flap 10 keeps the stuffing chamber 4 closed. On the side opposite the slot 12, for example, a pin 13 is arranged in the lower part 1, which holds the ink ribbon 3 in the position required for insertion in the drive.

The Kla.ppe 10 can be made of any material and have any shape, it only needs to tighten the ribbon 3 when new and keep the stuffing chamber 4 closed.

In the operating state, ie inserted in the cassette receiving device _/ , the flap 10 is pivoted away from the opening of the stuffing space 4 and the ink ribbon 3 is thereby also released. This swinging away can be done automatically. For this purpose, the flap 10 has an arm 14, and the cassette holder device at the point of a stop 15 that the flap 10 is pivoted away when inserting the stuffing cassette.

When removing the stuffing cassette, as little of the ink ribbon 3 as possible should swell out of it. For this purpose, for example, a spring 16 is attached to the cover 2 in such a way that the flap 10 is pivoted by the spring force over the arm 14 when the stuffing cassette is removed from the cassette receiving device in front of the opening of the stuffing space 4. As a result, the ink ribbon 3 is clamped and prevents the same from swelling out. The ink ribbon 3 is not clamped in the slot 12 of the flap 10 as it is when new, but between the flap 10 and the lower part 1. A pointed rag that springs, can also be used on the cover 2 as the spring 16.

With the stuffing cassette according to the invention, the operating personnel can easily and cleanly insert or change the ribbon cassette on a typewriter.
