Description

The invention relates to an arrangement for covering areas of work objects to be protected against contamination by a protective tarpaulin, which is held by means of an adhesive strip which can be attached to the edge of the area to be protected and which has an adhesive layer on its top for the edge of the protective tarpaulin and Attachment to the work object is provided on its underside with a self-adhesive layer, in particular for covering openings, such as door and window openings in automobile bodies, during grinding work or applying paint.

In the known arrangements of the aforementioned type, the adhesive strip to be attached to the work object at the edge of the covering area and which has a self-adhesive layer on its underside is likewise provided on its top with a self-adhesive layer onto which the protective tarpaulin is pressed with the underside of its edge (DE-OS 27 46 502). The disadvantage here is that both the adhesive strip and the protective tarpaulin must be put on again for each work step, since adhesive bonds are not suitable for repeated application. The protective tarpaulin must also be replaced after one or more uses. In order to save costs, cheap paper material is regularly used for the tarpaulins. The preparatory and final work for painting or other work required for cutting and attaching each time is associated with considerable expenditure of time and material.

The invention has for its object to simplify the attachment and removal of the tarpaulin.

In solving this problem, the invention is based on the consideration of designing the method for fastening the protective tarpaulin in such a way that it can be reused many times. This can be achieved according to the invention in that the adhesive strip has a velor-like surface on its upper side as an adhesive layer, that the edge of the adhesive strip is provided with incisions, and that an active Velcro strip is arranged on the edge of the protective tarpaulin.

Since Velcro connections can be closed and opened again almost indefinitely, the invention offers the advantageous possibility of having high-quality protective tarpaulins ready for the work. The active Velcro strip can be firmly connected to the protective tarpaulin, preferably by sewing, but possibly also interchangeably, and can consist of a commercially available Velcro strip.

In order to facilitate a clean and simple adaptation of the lower adhesive strip to curvatures, the edge of the adhesive strip is provided with incisions.

A preferred embodiment provides that the adhesive strip has a straight longitudinal edge and a wavy longitudinal edge. The active Velcro strip can also consist of a double-sided Velcro tape. In this case, the protective tarpaulin can also have a velor-like surface at the edge, so that the active Velcro strip is interchangeably attached to the protective tarpaulin.

In the drawing, the invention is illustrated schematically using exemplary embodiments. It shows:
  • 1 view of the corner of the door frame of an automobile body with a partially opened protective tarpaulin,
  • 2 on a larger scale a cross section along the line 11/11 of FIG. 1 with the components of the protective cover in an exploded view,

In the drawing, the invention for working on an automobile body is illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2 and in FIG. 4 for working on the ceiling of a building.

Of the automobile body, only the corner of a door frame with a partially folded-back protective tarpaulin 7 is illustrated in the drawing in a schematic illustration. The opening 1 of the door is delimited by the frame 2 with the edge 2a facing the opening. In order to cover the door opening, a lower adhesive strip 3 is first glued to the edge 2a in such a way that its straight longitudinal edge 3a runs with the smallest possible distance from the frame profile. On its side facing the opening 1, the adhesive strip has a wavy longitudinal edge 3b, as a result of which it is easier and more precisely adaptable to the curvatures of the door frame.

The adhesive strip 3 is provided on its underside with a self-adhesive layer 4, which is usually covered by a film to be removed before use. The adhesive strip 3 can be divided into two identical adhesive strips by cutting a commercially available adhesive strip with mutually parallel edge lines through a central separating cut.

Instead of the wavy incisions 5, zigzag incisions can also be provided.

The adhesive strip 3 is provided on its upper side with a plush-shaped or velor-like surface 6, which serves as an adhesive layer for the edge of the protective tarpaulin 7 when the protective tarpaulin 7 is attached.

The protective tarpaulin in turn is connected at the edge to an active Velcro strip 8 by gluing or preferably by sewing. If it is made of Velcro material, it can also be interchangeably connected with a Velcro strip that actively closes on both sides.

Velcro fasteners are on sale in manifold embodiment available. Active Velcro strips are usually provided with hooks or rivet-shaped projections, which can either be hooked up with similar, ie also active, Velcro structures on the opposite side or can be connected in connection with an opposite velor-like surface, such as the adhesive strip 3, for the Velcro fastener. Adhesive strips are usually covered with loops on their surface, in which the hooks or heads of the active Velcro strips get caught in such a way that the adhesive strips and Velcro strips are more or less tied up, depending on the design and width of the Velcro zone, but by tearing them apart without destroying them can be solved. The design of both the active Velcro strips and the adhesive strips is not the subject of the present invention, rather the person skilled in the art will easily find the Velcro structures and Velcro combinations that are best suited for his purpose from the marketable designs. Whether he chooses an active Velcro strip or an adhesive strip as the lower Velcro strip to be attached to the work object will depend largely on the respective application. For example, if he wants to permanently connect the bottom adhesive strip required at the edge of a door opening for Velcro connection to the protective tarpaulin to the edge of the door opening, he will not design this as an active Velcro strip to rule out unintentional Velcro when the protective tarpaulin is absent. Door openings of automobile bodies can therefore, if there is no need to apply the lower adhesive strip each time at work and the door opening with the door removed should be closed with a ready-made, adapted protective tarpaulin, can also be provided with velor-like surfaces that replace adhesive strips and are attached in corresponding areas will. The embodiment shown in Fig. 1 and 2 is not designed for permanent connection of a velor-like surface to the door frame, rather the adhesive strip 3 after sanding, spray painting or other work, after the protective tarpaulin 7 has been removed, from the edge 2a of the door frame peeled and thrown away. The upper, active Velcro strip 8, which is more complex in comparison to the lower adhesive strip 3, is thus retained as an integral part of the protective tarpaulin for further, repeated use in doors of the same or similar shape.

In order to prevent the protective tarpaulin with the active Velcro strip from becoming unusable due to contamination, a protective cover 9 can be provided which shields the protective tarpaulin and its Velcro strip on the side at risk of contamination. Such a protective cover can be provided with a self-adhesive layer 9a for attachment and can now optionally extend over areas particularly at risk of dirt. In FIG. 2, this is in particular the edge area of the protective tarpaulin with the rear side of the active Velcro tape that is at risk when spray painting in the direction of the arrow.

Depending on the design of the door frame or other work objects, adhesive strips, Velcro strips and the protective tarpaulin will be attached to the outside or inside.

Fig. 3 shows a schematic representation of a cross section through a sealing strip 2b for automobile doors. Since such a sealing strip is normally only intended to come into contact with a soft sealing strip, it can, without risk of becoming unusable, serve as a carrier for a permanent passive adhesive layer 3 'which replaces the adhesive strip and which can be used in later work without preparation work for the attachment Connection with the ready-made protective tarpaulins available for the work can be used. The protective tarpaulins themselves are preferably cut to a certain extent so that they can be used without difficulty for door openings whose dimensions do not differ too much from one another.

The adhesive layer 3 'can be glued to the sealing strip, applied by a thermoplastic process or first applied to a felt body, which is shaped, hardened and made as in the millinery and applied to the sealing strip 2b.

Fig. 4 illustrates the application of the invention for covering a room wall 10 with wallpaper 11 and wallpaper strip 12 z. B. with stucco work on the ceiling 13. The wallpaper strip 12 serves as a carrier for the lower, preferably passive adhesive strip 3, on which in this case a substantially curtain-shaped protective tarpaulin 7 is to be suspended with the aid of an active Velcro strip 8 attached to its upper edge.

Within the scope of the invention, various modifications and other designs are possible; in particular, the invention can be applied analogously to other work objects, such as, for example, for closing door openings or for covering fixed facilities in buildings when carrying out work which is hazardous to dirt.

Beneke GmbH, Hannover, BRD).The protective tarpaulin can be made cheaply and usefully from materials such as are available on the market for disposable work clothing (for example under the name "Tyvek" Du Pont Company, Wilmigton, USA or "Corovin", JH Beneke GmbH, Hanover, FRG ).
