Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a bass reflex box according to the preamble of the first claim.
Many designs of bass reflex boxes have already been developed and are known, in which instead of a bass reflex opening of rectangular or round shape, an air-coupled membrane as a so-called passive radiator closed off a corresponding housing opening. Such solutions are, for example, from the "loudspeaker book" by Jecklin, Franksche Verlagshandlung, Stuttgart 1967, pages 91 to 95, as an interesting variant or special form of the conventional bass reflex principle, and from patent specifications No. 706 137, 1 074 651, 1 110 228, 23 54 614 and 25 52 591 are known. In principle, the bass reflex opening Hzw. -Opened openings with one or more speakers without magnet and voice coil. As is known, the membrane mass takes the place of the air in the bass reflex opening or the bass reflex opening. This membrane is driven exclusively by the internal air volume of the box, and consequently works as an air-coupled swing system.
From DE-AS 24 51 475 an arrangement is known in which the transient response of a loudspeaker is damped by a network connected in parallel with the voice coil of the converter. As can be seen from
As has been shown, it is generally very difficult to achieve an optimal coordination of the reflection system with this arrangement, namely short settling times through sensible vaporization of the resonance ranges that are too pronounced. Among other things, this problem can also be recognized from the practical exemplary embodiments given in the publications mentioned and from the need for a wide variety of configurations with regard to the mass, size and rigidity of the active and passive low-frequency vibration system. The passive membrane was designed with different stiffness, additional mass and different diameter. The housing of the bass reflex box has been equipped with perforated partition walls or other additional damping means. Basically, such an Eaßreflexbox shows in its typical impedance curve two resonance points, as it corresponds to the corresponding equivalent circuit diagram of a bandpass. At the lowest resonance point, the active and passive membranes work in opposite phases, while the upper one works in opposite phases. In the area in between, the impedance curve has a saddle while the phase shift is 90 ° here. This peculiarity is responsible for the often "bumpy" bass reproduction.
All known solutions tried to solve this problem. However, they could not be satisfied with the controllability of the damping in this lower bass range. The present invention was therefore based on the object of finding a simplifying solution which allows damping control of the system.
- This object is achieved according to the invention for a bass reflex box with an active bass system and an air-coupled passive radiator according to the characterizing part of the first claim.
Vorteile:
- If two identical, complete low frequency speakers are used as active and passive radiator systems and the passive, air-coupled system is loaded with a resistor, the required damping control results in the simplest way by dimensioning this resistor. The drive of the passive membrane and its voice coil via the air volume enclosed in the box induces a current in it, which is more or less short-circuited by the damping resistance. Advantageously, any adjustment of the bass reflex system can be achieved within a wide range by cleverly dimensioning the damping resistance. A practical test showed that a resistance which can be set between R = Z 0 and R = 4 x Z 0 enables the required damping of the resonance regions, which reduces the settling times and the current distortions, particularly in the area of the lower cut-off frequency, which is important for good bass reproduction.

Figure 1 shows a bass reflex box 1, which has a

Charakteristische Impedanzkurven sind in Figur 5 für extreme Widerstandswerte eingezeichnet, wie R =∞, R = 0 und R≈Z0.Figure 3 shows the solution according to the invention. An air-coupled
Practical testing of an exemplary embodiment with an appropriately selected potentiometer proved that in this way the frequency range is expanded significantly downwards and the unpleasant sound coloration is reliably avoided, and at the same time a very effective adaptation of the bass reproduction to the different acoustic characteristics of the reproduction space and / or the Listener taste is possible.
