Description

The invention relates to packaging for explosives, in particular propellant powder, with a closable inner container and an outer container.

Packaging of this type has previously consisted of conventional wooden or hard cardboard boxes as the outer container and an inner container made of polyethylene film. Such packaging is not suitable for a partially or fully mechanized filling process and furthermore does not guarantee optimum safety, since among other things there is the possibility that explosives may accumulate in the space between the inner and outer containers. The previously inevitable use of metal parts in the area of the opening led to a further security risk.

The object is to create a packaging of the type mentioned at the outset, by means of which these disadvantages can be largely avoided and which, in addition to optimum fire and explosion safety, permits safe and at least partially mechanized filling.

This object is achieved by a packaging of the type mentioned, in which the inner container is connected to the bottom of the outer container, which has a cover that can be slipped over the inner container and rests on the bottom with side walls.

The inner container is preferably constructed from an electrostatically non-chargeable, water-impermeable plastic, while the outer container advantageously consists of mechanically resistant material, such as wrapped kraft paper and wood, and at least in the area of the container opening, no metal parts are used to prevent any sparking.

With the design according to the invention, explosives are prevented from accumulating unnoticed, in particular during mechanical filling, between the inner and outer container, in that this space remains accessible until the lid of the outer container is put on.

Es zeigtThe invention is explained in more detail below on the basis of an exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing. It shows

Fig. A sectional view of part of the closed package.

The packaging initially has an inner container 2, which has an essentially rectangular plan and a round opening 3. A closure cover 4 can be placed on the opening 3 and is provided with an O-ring seal 5 (FIG. 2) which is intended to rest on the edge of the opening 3. A screw ring 6 can be screwed onto an external thread 7 on the inner container 2 via the closure cover. The use of such a known closure in the present packaging allows, as will be explained in more detail below, a safe filling and closing process and, thanks to the external thread 7 on the inner container 2, prevents part of it from getting caught inside the container when the powdery contents are dumped . For the same reason, the inside of the inner container 2 is generally designed avoiding so-called dead corners. The wall of the inner container 2 is blown from high-molecular low-pressure polyethylene. The resulting corner and edge parts have the advantage that no propellant powder can adhere to the container. Carbon black is added to the material mentioned, so that the surface resistance is less than 10 9 ohms (according to DIN 53482), which prevents the formation of static surface charges. This wall material is flame retardant and waterproof. On its underside, the inner container has a plurality of pegs 8 molded into the wall, which are cast with polyethylene and are used to hold brass screws 9, by means of which the bottom 21 of an outer container is detachably fastened to the inner container 2 and which pose no danger of sparking. Between the bottom 21 of the outer container and a projection 11 on the inner container 2, a jacket 10 made of wound kraft paper-bitumen composite can be provided as a reinforcement, which also prevents propellant powder from accumulating in the undercuts between the bottom 21 and the inner container 2 (Fig . 2).

The bottom 21 of the outer container is designed as a rectangular plywood panel protruding laterally beyond the inner container. The above part serves as a support for the jacket of the lid 22 of the outer container. This is designed as a slip lid. As can be seen from FIG. 1, the inner container 2 with said bottom 21 remains completely accessible with the cover 22 removed, so that any residues of explosives can be noticed and removed before the cover is put on. The jacket 23 of the lid 22 is made of wrapped kraft paper of about 4 cm thick (kraft paper-bitumen composite) and has a rectangular plan with rounded edges, the inner dimensions of which are matched to the outer dimensions of the inner container 2, so that the lid only laterally is insignificantly displaceable on the floor 21. On its upper side, the cover 23 also has a rectangular plywood panel 24 which is firmly connected to the jacket 23.

To secure the outer container, steel tape is used, which has a sheathing that does not generate sparks in the event of impact or friction. The outer container is resistant to impacts and is waterproof.

The partially mechanical filling and The closing process for the packaging described is as follows. First, the propellant powder is filled mechanically into the open inner container in a security room in which there are no people, after which the closure lid 4 is mechanically placed. This ensures a first safeguard against any flying sparks. In this state, the inner container 2 with the floor 21 leaves the security room. The screw ring 6 is then screwed on by hand, with which the closure cover 4 is secured. Finally, the lid 22 of the outer container is put on and fastened with steel tape, any propellant powder residues on the outside of the inner container being able to be removed beforehand.

The packaging explained improves safety when filling and transporting powdered explosives. Its design eliminates electrostatic discharge and other types of sparking. The double-walled construction using waterproof polyethylene for the inner container and a shockproof structure for the outer container increases transport safety. In the event of a fire, the selected material combination on the one hand provides insulation against flaming, but on the other hand is not explosive. The suitability for partially mechanized filling simplifies handling and reduces the number of possible sources of danger and the risk for personnel.
