Description

"Jet pipe for a weaving loom operating with an air jet"
The present invention relates to a jet pipe for a so-called pneumatic weaving loom operating with an air jet, the inser- tion of the weft thread into the shed being effected pneuma¬ tically, i.e. by means of an air jet under pressure.
The pneumatic insertion of the weft thread is conventionally carried out by means of a jet pipe. The known jet pipes for this purpose consist conventionally of a revolution body the manufacture of which is rather intricated, thereby increasing substantially the cost price.
Now, the object of the present invention is the use of a jet pipe for the above-mentioned purpose; said jet pipe is not only very efficient, but additionally the manufacture thereof does not present any difficulties.
For this purpose, the jet pipe according to the invention is substantially characterized in that it consists of a block- shaped body provided with a side longitudinal groove and with an air chamber communicating with said groove, an air sup- plying channel being provided between the said air chamber and the front side of the block-shaped body, a covering piece being secured on the side provided with the longitudinal groove.
The invention will be further illustrated by the following description of two embodiments given by way of example and - without any limitation, reference being made to the enclosed drawings wherein :
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a jet pipe according to the invent!on;
Figure 2 is a front view of a jet pipe shown in Figure '1, the covering piece being removed; and
Figure 3 shows another embodiment of the invention with a double jet pipe.
As shown in Figures 1 and 2, the jet pipe according to the in¬ vention comprises substantially a block-shaped body 1_, a lon¬ gitudinal groove 2_ being cut in one of the sides of said body. An air chamber 3_ also provided in the same side of the block- shaped body is communicating with said groove 2_. An air sup¬ plying channel 4 is provided between said air chamber 3_ and the other side of the block-shaped body, i.e. the side which is 'remote from the side provided with the said longitudinal groove 2_ and the said air chamber 3_.
A covering piece 5_ is screwed on the side provided with the longitudinal groove 2_ and the air chamber 3_. When it is used, the jet pipe is mounted near the batten of the weaving loom at the weft side. The air channel 3_ is connected with a sui¬ table source of compressed air.
Figure 3 shows a double jet pipe provided with two longitu¬ dinal grooves 2_a and 2b and also with two air chambers 3a. and 3b which are each provided with an air supplying channel 4a and 4b. Two such double jet pipes may be mounted near each other when equipping a weaving loom operating with four weft threads having different colours.
It is clearly apparant that the above described jet i es- c-- cording to the invention do not present any difficulties for the manufacture thereof and, additionally, thank to their
CMP wi general shape, they occupy only a minimum space when they are stacked.
