Abstract

3-chloro-5-trifluoromethylpyridine and/or 2,3-dichloro-5-trifluoromethylpyridine are produced by selective vapour-phase chlorination of 3-trifluoromethylpyridine or 2-chloro-5-trifluoromethylpyridine in the presence of a copper catalyst.
