- these fuel injection systems have the disadvantage that when. Accelerate the internal combustion engine due to the inertia of the fuel injection systems inherent in the system, the fuel-air mixture becomes leaner, which results in poorer driving behavior and a higher NO emission x. To avoid this disadvantage, this thinning must be taken into account when designing the warm-up phase of the fuel injection systems for the acceleration, so that the internal combustion engine is operated in idle and constant operation with such a highly enriched fuel-air mixture that is not required in these operating areas.
- the object of the invention is to improve a fuel injection system of the type mentioned in the simplest way such that the driving behavior of the vehicle is improved in the warm-up phase of the internal combustion engine when accelerating through a defined enrichment of the fuel-air mixture.
- the combustion air flows in the direction of the arrow into an intake manifold 1, as in the fuel injection systems shown in FIGS. 2 to 4.

- the differential pressure valve 3 comprises a membrane 9 separating the upper chamber 5 from the lower chamber 7, which is loaded by a compression spring 10 arranged in the upper chamber 5, and the differential pressure valve 4 comprises a membrane 11 separating the upper chamber 6 from the lower chamber 8 arranged in the upper chamber 6 compression spring 12 is loaded.
- the amount of fuel measured by the differential pressure valve 3 or 4 is supplied via the fuel line 13 or 14 to the injection valves, not shown.
- the fuel delivered by an electric fuel pump 15 through the fuel line 16 without pressure from a fuel tank 17 is fed to a system pressure line 18 and from there via fuel lines 19 and 20 and throttle devices 21 and 22 into the upper chamber 5 and 6.
- a fuel line 24 branching off from the system pressure line 18 and having a fixed throttle 23 the fuel is likewise first fed to the subchamber 7 of the differential pressure valve 3 and from there through a fuel line 25 to the subchamber 8 of the differential pressure valve 4.
- the fuel is returned from this subchamber 8 through a fuel line 26 into the fuel tank 17.
- a fuel line 27 also branches off from the system pressure line 18, into which a pressure limiting valve 28 is connected, which allows fuel to flow back from the system pressure line 18 into the fuel tank 17 if the system pressure is too high.

- the throttle device 34 which is shown in detail in FIG. 5, comprises a guide body 39 which has a fuel inflow opening 40 for the fuel line 26 and a fuel outflow opening 41 for the fuel line 26.
- the fuel inflow opening 40 and the fuel outflow opening 41 can be connected on the one hand via a recess 42 of a control slide 43 and the fixed throttle 35 which is arranged displaceably in the guide body 39, and on the other hand via a recess 44 of the control slide 43 and a fixed throttle 36, which has a smaller flow cross section than the fixed throttle 35, connectable.

- An electromagnetic valve 58 which is controlled by the temperature switch 33, is arranged in the vacuum line 50 between the opening thereof into the suction pipe 1 and the branching of the vacuum line 53.
- the intake manifold vacuum, the oil or cooling water temperature and the lambda probe detection are used as internal combustion engine parameters for enriching the fuel-air mixture when accelerating during the warm-up phase of the internal combustion engine.
- the control unit 30 ′ described in detail with reference to the electrical circuit diagram in FIG. 8 is replaced by the lambda probe and the sensor T emperature switch 33 is signaled, the throttle valve 2 moves from the closed position shown into an open position, the intake manifold vacuum builds up more slowly as a result of the fixed throttle 52 in the vacuum chamber 54 than in the vacuum chamber 51, so that the vacuum chamber 54 which is larger for a short time Membrane 56 is moved.
- This movement is fed in the form of a signal to the control unit 30 ′ and the lambda control unit 30a, through which the variable throttle 29 enlarges the flow opening in the fuel line 26.
- the pressure difference between the lower chambers 7 and 8 and the upper chambers 5 and 6 is then increased as already described for the exemplary embodiment in FIG. 1.
- the flow restrictor 29 in the fuel return line 26 becomes again through the variable throttle 29 reduced, as a result of which the pressure difference between the vacuum chambers 7 and 8 and the upper chambers 5 and 6, as also already described for the exemplary embodiment in FIG. 1, is reduced.
- the throttle valve switch 31 comprises two switching contacts 58 and 59, of which the switching contact 58 opens when the throttle valve 2 is rotated out of the idle position and the switching contact 59 opens when the throttle valve 2 is rotated beyond a throttle valve angle of, for example, approximately 15 ° becomes.
- the electronic control unit 30 consists of two delay circuits (monoflop) 60 and 61, a logic combination 62 and a transistor 63.
- the delay circuit 60 is assigned to the switching contact 58 and the delay circuit 61 to the switching contact 59.
- the input variables for the electronic control unit 30 are the switch contacts 58 and 59, the temperature switch 33 and the terminal 64 on the lambda control unit, which have a ground potential not recognizing lambda probe.
- the output variable of the electronic control unit 30 is the terminal 65 of the lambda control unit, which determines the duty cycle, ie the influence of the richness of the fuel-air mixture by the lambda control unit.
- the temperature switch 33 is up to an assumed e.g. oil temperature of + 35 ° C closed and the terminal 64 forms a ground potential if the lambda probe is not recognized. If the internal combustion engine is accelerated from idle - switch contact 58 opens - or when a throttle valve angle of 15 ° is exceeded - switch contact 59 opens - comes through delay circuit 60 or through delay circuit 61 via logic link 62 and transistor 63 at terminal 65 for approx 3 seconds ground potential to the system, whereby the fuel-air mixture is enriched for a limited period of time by changing the duty cycle in the lambda control unit.
- the enrichment is interrupted by resetting the delay circuits due to the influence of the throttle valve switch. Detects the lambda probe, i.e. when their operating temperature is reached, or when an oil temperature of more than + 35 ° C is reached as a result of the opening switch 33, there is no ground potential of the terminal 65 when the switching contacts 58 and 59 close, so that there is no enrichment of the fuel-air mixture .
- the throttle valve switch 31 comprises two switch contacts 58 and 59, of which the switch contact 58 when the throttle valve 2 is rotated out of the idle position and the switch contact 59 when the throttle valve 2 is rotated over a throttle valve angle of approximately 15 ° is opened out.

- the input variables for the electronic control unit 37 are the switch contacts 58 and 59 and the temperature switch 33.
- the output variable of the electronic control unit 37 is the terminal 65 of the lambda control unit, which determines the duty cycle of the lambda control unit.
- the temperature switch 33 is closed up to an assumed, for example, oil temperature + 35 ° C. If the internal combustion engine is accelerated in idle mode - switch contact 58 opens - or when a throttle valve angle of 15 ° is exceeded - switch contact 59 opens - it comes through the delay circuit 60 or through the delay circuit 61 via the logic link 66 and the transistor 63 at the terminal 65 for about 3 Seconds of ground potential to the system, which results in an enrichment of the fuel-air mixture that is limited to this period of time by changing the duty cycle in the lambda control unit. If the throttle valve closes before this enrichment time has elapsed, the enrichment is interrupted by resetting the delay circuits due to the influence of the throttle valve switch. Upon reaching an oil temperature greater than + 35 0 C 59 no ground potential occurs as a result of the opening switch 33 in the closing switch contacts 58 on the clamp 65 to the plant, so that there is no enrichment of the fuel-air mixture occurs.
- 67 denotes a switching contact which is switched via the vacuum container 55 as a function of the intake manifold vacuum.
- the electronic Control unit 30 ' consists of a delay circuit (monoflop) 68 assigned to switch contact 67, a logic operation 69 and a transistor 63.
- the input variables for electronic control unit 30' are switch contact 67, temperature switch 33 and terminal 64 on the lambda control unit, which forms a ground potential when the lambda probe is not recognized.
- the output variable of the electronic control unit 30 ′ is the terminal 65 of the lambda control unit, which determines the duty cycle of the lambda control unit.
- the temperature switch 33 is closed up to an assumed, for example oil temperature of + 35 ° C. and the terminal 64 forms a ground potential when the lambda probe is not recognized. If the internal combustion engine is accelerated from idling, the switch contact 67 opens and the delay circuit 68, via the logic circuit 69 and the transistor 63, connects to the terminal 65 for about 3 seconds, which results in an accumulation of the time limited to this period fuel-air mixture by changing the T ast Camills takes place in the lambda control unit. If the throttle valve closes before this enrichment time has elapsed, the enrichment as a result of being influenced by the switching contact 67 is terminated by resetting the delay circuit 68. If the lambda sensor detects or when an oil temperature of more than + 35 ° C is reached as a result of opening switch 33, then when switching contact 67 closes, there is no ground potential at terminal 65, so that the fuel-air mixture does not accumulate.
- the throttle valve switch 39 comprises two switch contacts 58 and 59, of which the switch contact 58 rotates the throttle valve 2 out of the idle position and the switch contact 59 rotates the throttle flap 2 is opened beyond a throttle valve angle of approximately 15 °.
- the electronic control unit 70 consists of two delay circuits (monoflop) 60 and 61, a logic operation 71 and two transistors 72 and 73.

If the internal combustion engine is accelerated from idle - switch contact 58 opens - or when a throttle valve angle of 15 ° is exceeded - switch contact 59 opens - comes through delay circuit 60 or delay circuit 61 via logic link 71 and transistor 72 at terminal 75 for approx. 3 seconds ground potential to the system, which means that the fuel-air mixture is enriched for a limited period of time by changing the duty cycle in the lambda control unit.
- the enrichment process is interrupted by resetting the delay circuits due to the influence of the throttle valve switch.
- the temperature switch 33 closes up to an assumed oil temperature of + 35 ° C machine accelerates from idle - switch contact 58 opens - or when a throttle valve angle of 15 ° is exceeded - switch contact 59 opens - comes through the delay circuit 60 or through the delay circuit 61 via the logic circuit 71 and the transistor 73 on the terminal 65 for about 3 Seconds of ground potential to the system, so that the fuel-air mixture is enriched for a limited period of time by changing the duty cycle in the lambda control unit, which is below the degree of enrichment of the enrichment via terminal 75.
- the enrichment is interrupted by resetting the delay circuits due to the influence of the throttle valve switch. Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a fuel injection system for mixture-compressing, spark-ignited internal combustion engines with continuous injection into the intake manifold, in which a measuring element and a throttle valve which can be arbitrarily actuated by an accelerator pedal are arranged one behind the other and the measuring element is moved according to the amount of air flowing through against a restoring force and thereby the movable Part of a metering valve arranged in the fuel line and having a differential pressure valve for each cylinder of the internal combustion engine adjusts for metering a fuel quantity proportional to the air quantity, the metering taking place at a constant pressure difference at the differential pressure valves that can be changed as a function of internal combustion engine parameters, and the pressure difference through a throttle is influenced in a control pressure circuit.
The increasing demands on the exhaust gas quality and on the fuel consumption when operating internal combustion engines, in particular the internal combustion engines of motor vehicles, require a high quality of the fuel metering and the fuel preparation. For this purpose, fuel injection systems of the type mentioned were created, by means of which an inexpensive fuel-air mixture is generated automatically for internal combustion engines under all operating conditions, so that the fuel is burned as completely as possible and, as a result, the formation of toxic exhaust gases with high internal combustion engine power and low fuel consumption avoid or at least greatly reduce. For this purpose, the amount of fuel must meet the requirements of each operating state of the internal combustion engine The machine is measured accordingly very precisely and the proportionality between air volume and fuel volume is changed depending on internal combustion engine parameters such as speed, load and temperature.
For example, taking into account the parameter temperature, internal combustion engines with fuel injection systems of the generic type are known (Bosch, technical information on gasoline injection K-Jetronik, 1st edition February 1974), in which during the warm-up phase of the internal combustion engine to compensate for the condensation losses in the cold combustion chambers and in the An enriched fuel-air mixture is fed to the intake manifold walls of the internal combustion engine. This regulation is carried out by a warm-up regulator influencing the control pressure of the fuel injection system, which consists of a spring-loaded control valve which is controlled by an electrically heated bimetal strip. In the warmed-up state of the internal combustion engine, the warm-up controller keeps the control pressure at a constant positive pressure. The warm-up controller is arranged on the internal combustion engine so that it assumes the temperature of the internal combustion engine. However, these fuel injection systems have the disadvantage that when.
The object of the invention is to improve a fuel injection system of the type mentioned in the simplest way such that the driving behavior of the vehicle is improved in the warm-up phase of the internal combustion engine when accelerating through a defined enrichment of the fuel-air mixture.
According to the invention, this object is achieved by the characterizing features of patent claim 1. Further features of the invention include the subclaims. The advantages achieved by the invention are, in particular, that only a slight enrichment of the fuel-air mixture is required during the warm-up phase of the internal combustion engine in idling and constant operation, and an increased enrichment only takes place during acceleration, so that due to the overall low enrichment requirement in addition considerable fuel savings and a significant reduction in CO, HC and NO x exhaust emissions. In addition, the fuel-air mixture is enriched almost without delay during acceleration due to the low inertia of the membranes in the differential pressure valves.

- In the exemplary embodiment of the invention shown in FIG. 1, the position of throttle valve 2, the oil or cooling water temperature and the lambda probe detection are used as internal combustion engine parameters for enriching the fuel-air mixture when accelerating during the warm-up phase of the internal combustion engine . During the warm-up phase of the internal combustion engine, which is signaled to the
control unit 30 by the as yet undetected lambda probe and thetemperature switch 33 is Siert, the throttle valve 2 is moved from the shown closed position to the open position, the Drossel flap switch 31 opens by rotating the throttle valve and via thecontrol unit 30 and thelambda control unit 30a, the flow opening at short notice through thevariable throttle 29 in thefuel line 26 enlarged. As a result, the pressure in the 7 and 8 is reduced and the pressure difference between thelower chambers upper chamber 5 and thelower chamber 7 of thedifferential pressure valve 3 and theupper chamber 6 and thelower chamber 8 of thedifferential pressure valve 4 is increased. The 9 and 11, which act in conjunction with themembranes 13 and 14 as diaphragm valves, bulge downwards and release a larger ring cross section, so that a larger amount of fuel is delivered to the injection valves. After the end of the warm-up phase, which is signaled to thefuel lines control unit 30 either when thetemperature switch 33 reaches a certain oil or cooling water temperature or by the recognizinglambda probe 32 , the flow opening in thefuel line 26 is reduced again by thevariable throttle 29 . The pressure in the 7 and 8 increases, the pressure difference between thesubchambers upper chamber 5 and thesubchamber 7 of thedifferential pressure valve 3 and theupper chamber 6 and thesubchamber 8 of thedifferential pressure valve 4 drops, so that the 13 and 14 decrease due to the decrease Curvatures of thefuel lines 9 and 11 released a smaller ring cross-section and the amount of fuel delivered to the injection nozzles is reduced. As a result, the fuel-air mixture is emaciated again with the same amount of air.membranes
The embodiment of the invention shown in FIG. 2 differs from the embodiment of FIG. 1 only in that a

- In this exemplary embodiment of the invention, the internal combustion engine parameters for enriching the fuel-air mixture when accelerating during the warm-up phase of the internal combustion engine are the position of the throttle valve 2 and the oil or. Cooling water temperature used. During the warm-up phase of the internal combustion engine, which is signaled to the
control unit 37 by thetemperature switch 33, the throttle valve 2 from the closed position shown in FIG moves an open position, thethrottle valve switch 31 closes briefly by the rotating throttle valve and thesolenoid 45 is excited via thecontrol device 37. This pulls in and moves the control spool 43 in the direction of arrow A until the fixedthrottle 36 is blocked by theweb 49 with respect to thefuel inflow opening 40 and the fuel from the fuel inflow opening 40 via therecess 42 and through theFixed throttle 35 flows to thefuel drain opening 41. The 9 and 11, which act in cooperation with themembranes 13 and 14 as diaphragm valves, bulge downwards and release a larger ring cross section, so that a larger amount of fuel is delivered to the injection valves. The pressure in the 7 and 8 increases, the pressure difference between thesubchambers upper chamber 5 and thesubchamber 7 of thedifferential pressure valve 3 and theupper chamber 6 and thelower chamber 8 of thedifferential pressure valve 4 drops, so that the 13 and 14 decrease due to the decrease Curvatures of thefuel lines 9 and 11, a smaller ring cross-section is released and the amount of fuel delivered to the injection nozzles is reduced. In the exemplary embodiment of the invention shown in FIG. 3, the vacuum parameters in the intake manifold 1 and the oil or cooling water temperature are used as internal combustion engine parameters for enriching the fuel-air mixture when accelerating during the warm-up phase of the internal combustion engine. The characteristic variable intake manifold vacuum is fed through a
- If the throttle valve 2 is moved from the closed position shown into an open position during the warm-up phase of the internal combustion engine, which is signaled to the
solenoid valve 48 by thetemperature switch 33 and in which thesolenoid valve 58 holds thevacuum line 50 open, the intake manifold vacuum builds up as a result of the fixedthrottle 52 in thevacuum chamber 54 more slowly than in thevacuum chamber 51, so that the short-term larger vacuum in thevacuum chamber 54 while overcoming the spring force of the compression spring 48 (FIG. 5) moves the control slide in the direction of arrow A until the fixedthrottle 36 through theweb 49 blocked off from thefuel inflow opening 40 and the fuel flows from the fuel inflow opening 40 via therecess 42 and through the fixedthrottle 45 to thefuel outflow opening 41. As a result, the pressure in the 7 and 8 is reduced and the pressure difference between thelower chambers upper chamber 5 and theupper chamber 7 of thedifferential pressure valve 3 and theupper chamber 6 and thelower chamber 8 of thedifferential pressure valve 4 is increased. The 9 and 11, which act in conjunction with themembranes 13 and 14 as diaphragm valves, bulge downwards and release a larger ring cross section, so that a larger amount of fuel is delivered to the injection valves. Has the vacuum in thefuel lines 51 and 54 adjusted, which is approximately the case at the end of the acceleration process, the control slide is returned by thevacuum chambers compression spring 48 to the position shown, so that the flow opening in thefuel line 26 again by the fixedthrottle 36 is reduced. As a result, the fuel-air mixture is emaciated again in the manner already described while the amount of air remains the same. After the end of the warm-up phase, thesolenoid valve 48 is actuated by thetemperature switch 33 as a result of reaching a certain oil or cooling water temperature and the vacuum line is closed by this, whereby the vacuum container and thus also thethrottle device 34 become inoperative.
In the exemplary embodiment of the invention shown in FIG. 4, the intake manifold vacuum, the oil or cooling water temperature and the lambda probe detection are used as internal combustion engine parameters for enriching the fuel-air mixture when accelerating during the warm-up phase of the internal combustion engine.
