- the pressure prevailing in the intermediate space 21 engages with a force component directed towards the engine-side working space 10 on the lower sealing piston ring 8 and presses it with its engine-side surface 25 against the wall 26 of the groove 20, so that a passage of working gas from the intermediate space 21 to the engine-side working space 10 is effectively prevented in this piston position.
- the lower sealing piston ring 8 in addition to its actual function, namely the sealing function, also fulfills a control function, since, given the position and length of the overflow channels 29, it exactly begins, duration and ends pressure equalization between the working space 9 and the working space 10 Cylinder controls. Since the device according to the invention for equalizing the medium pressure is applied to all cylinders of the Stirling engine, there is inevitably an equalization of the pressure profiles of all the working cycles effective on the upper and lower sides of the pistons. This in turn has the consequence that the same favorable bearing conditions occur on all bearings of the Stirling engine, which has an advantageous effect on a uniform load distribution and a favorable torque curve.
Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a double-acting multi-cylinder Stirling engine, in which in each cylinder in its cylinder bore a piston connected to a crankshaft is arranged, the working gas containing a higher temperature containing burner side working space containing a working gas lower temperature, engine side arranged working space by two arranged on it , axially spaced sealing piston rings separates which sealing piston rings delimit a gap and sit against the cylinder wall with axial play in grooves of the piston.
Such a double-acting multi-cylinder Stirling engine is known from DE-AS 24 22 <125. In this known Stirling engine, the use of a sealing piston ring which blocks on both sides and a second sealing piston ring which interacts with passage grooves and forms a nonreturn valve which is only permeable to working gas serves to enable performance control by supplying working gas into the engine-side working space of a cylinder. Working gas is supplied from a container through a bore in the piston rod and through it in the piston Subsequent transverse bore, which opens into the space between the two sealing piston rings, and the sealing piston ring, which is open in the direction of the engine-side working space, and its passages to the engine-side working space. A passage of working gas from the engine-side work space into the burner-side work space is not possible in any position of the piston, since the other sealing piston ring is designed to block on both sides. However, this known Stirling engine, despite various - Dener constructive matches give no indication of the claimed Stirling engine.
In addition, a double-acting, multi-cylinder Stirling engine is already known from the D E -OS 24 40 352, the construction of which is intended to prevent various mean effective pressures from occurring in the separate working gas charges. To meet this requirement, it is proposed in this known Stirling engine that each piston contains a cavity with a volume greater than the cylinder displacement, which cavity is connected via at least one passage to a gap between two piston rings and with means for maintaining the minimum cycle pressure in interacts with his inside. The two piston rings cooperate with passage grooves and each form a check valve which only allows gas to pass in the direction out of the piston cavity into the working space which has a lower pressure level than in the cavity of the piston. For a pressure equalization between the two working spaces of a cylinder, a leakage flow between the piston rings and the adjacent cylinder wall is required, which in this known A direction is consciously accepted. A leakage flow of this kind is undesirable per se, since in the case of piston rings which do not seal exactly, there is inevitably a loss of performance and efficiency. In addition, leakage currents are used in this known device for pressure compensation, the amounts of which flow more or less uncontrollably - depending on the state of the piston rings - from a working space into the piston cavity and are to be passed on from there. In the case of dense piston rings which allow no or only the slightest leakage currents, however, pressure differences actually present in the two working spaces of a cylinder cannot be compensated for by a design according to the known solution, since the two sealing rings remain in the blocked position as a result of the maximum pressures acting on them. In addition, in the case of power readjustment by supplying working gas to the working spaces of a cylinder, the piston cavity of the known solution, the function assigned to it can only take effect after a relatively long time even if the piston rings leak, because the minimum pressures of the cylinders increase with the medium pressures and are therefore higher than in Piston cavity pre-existing pressure. As a result, there are uneven cylinder outputs and an uneven distribution of forces, through which the bearings of all the pistons coupled to the crankshaft are loaded unevenly, which in turn can damage or destroy them after a relatively short period of time.
It is therefore an object of the invention, in a double-acting multi-cylinder Stirling engine of the type mentioned, to take simple precautions by means of which a comparison can be made quickly and effectively moderation of the medium pressures prevailing in the working spaces of the cylinders is possible.
This object is achieved by a Stirling engine with features in accordance with claim 1. Advantageous refinements of the same are characterized in the subclaims.
The constructive and production-related additional effort in a Stirling engine with the device according to the invention for equalizing the medium pressure is advantageously exhausted compared to Stirling engines with pistons which have two normal piston rings, in that only a few passage grooves and in the cylinder wall are still present on a sealing piston ring with the same piston structure at least one overflow channel had to be formed in order to solve the problem posed.
The invention is described below with reference to an embodiment shown in the drawing. In the single figure, for the sake of simplicity, only a single cylinder of a double-acting multi-cylinder Stirling engine is shown schematically, since all the other cylinders are constructed in the same way as the one shown.
In the drawing, 1 designates a cylinder of a double-acting, multi-cylinder Stirling engine, 2 designates a cylinder bore, 3 designates an upper cylinder wall and 4 designates a lower cylinder wall on the engine side. 5 with a piston is referred to, which is guided in the cylinder 1 in the cylinder bore 2, axially displaceable in both directions and is connected to its piston rod 6 in a manner not shown, known per se with a crosshead which is in turn coupled to a crankshaft of the Stirling engine with the interposition of a drive rod. The
The two
The two
The following function results from this inventive design and arrangement of the two sealing
In a position of the
If the
When the
From the foregoing, it can be seen that the lower sealing piston ring 8, in addition to its actual function, namely the sealing function, also fulfills a control function, since, given the position and length of the
