Description

Stand der TechnikState of the art

The invention is based on a method according to the preamble of the main claim.

Known methods for selecting a hearing aid suitable for a hearing impaired person from a plurality of hearing aids which differ from one another in terms of their electrical and acoustic properties use a soundproof lockable measuring box which receives a loudspeaker, the hearing aid to be assessed and a coupler which can be connected to the hearing aid. The coupler contains a resonance chamber connected to the sound outlet opening of the hearing aid, the volume of which corresponds approximately to the average volume of an auditory canal, and a microphone coupled to the resonance chamber, optionally with a downstream amplifier. A measuring device is connected to the coupler outside the measuring box.

The measurement or selection of a hearing aid is roughly as follows, for example. First, audiograms of the hearing impaired are made. Based on the result, a number of hearing aids from different manufacturers are included in the selection. The hearing aids are then set in succession in the measuring box to the same output sound pressures and the same limitation (peak clipping).

This requires repeated opening and closing of the measuring box because handling the volume adjuster of a hearing aid is only possible when the measuring box is open and measuring is only possible when the measuring box is closed, and because the hearing aid acoustician has to approach the optimum value by repeatedly adjusting the volume control. If the hearing aid is set correctly, it is removed from the measuring box and put on by the hearing impaired person, the sound outlet opening of the hearing aid being connected via a hearing tube to an individually adapted earpiece. The hearing-impaired person wearing the hearing aid is now subjected to a speech intelligibility test, the outcome of which depends, among other things, on whether the selection of hearing aids has to be continued or not.

The previously practiced method has the following significant disadvantages. The volume of the coupler's resonator is usually 2 cm 3 . This value has been empirically determined as an average. Since the volume and the shape of the ear canal differ from person to person, exact measurement results cannot be expected with the previous measurement method. Furthermore, the repeated opening and closing of the measuring box is tedious and time-consuming consuming. In addition, the measuring box is usually in a cabin that is occupied for the entire duration of a hearing device selection.

Vorteile der ErfindungAdvantages of the invention

The method according to the main claim and the device according to the invention for carrying out the method according to the subclaim have the advantage that a measuring box previously used and difficult to handle can be dispensed with. Rather, only one measuring and test sound conductor is required, which in the simplest case consists of an approximately T- or Y-shaped piece of pipe. Another significant advantage is that the time for measuring and fitting hearing aids can be reduced considerably compared to the previously customary method.

The measures listed in the subclaims allow advantageous developments of the device specified in the dependent claim.

Beschreibung der ErfindungDescription of the invention

In FIG. 1, 10 denotes a hearing aid (BTE device) to be worn behind the ear, the housing 11 of which is detachably connected to an ear hook 12. The ear hook contains a first sound channel 13, one end of which is connected to the microphone of the hearing aid and the other end of which forms a sound inlet opening 14. A second sound channel 15 connected to the receiver of the hearing device extends to the free end of the ear hook 12 and forms a sound exit opening there.

The hearing aid 10 has various setting elements, of which only the setting element 16 of the volume control can be seen in FIG. 1.

A tubular measuring and / or test sound conductor 17 has an input 18 and two outputs 19 and 20. The last-mentioned sound conductor is T-shaped. While the input 18 is detachably connected to the free end of the ear hook 12, an hearing tube 21 is connected to the first output 19 and ends in an ear fitting 22. The earpiece is individually adapted to the ear of the wearer of the hearing aid and contains a through hole 23. A tubular connecting piece 24 of a microphone 25 is connected to the outlet 20 of the measuring and / or test conductor 17. The microphone 25 belongs to a measuring and / or testing device 26, which also comprises an audio frequency amplifier 27 connected to the microphone and a measuring and display device 28. A sound source 29 is arranged within a test booth 30 (dashed frame in FIG. 1) in such a way that the sound emitted reaches the sound entry opening 14 of the hearing aid well.

In the measurement of hearing aids described below, the hearing-impaired person initially wears a first BTE device 10 and an ear fitting 22 individually made for him. The sound source 29 supplies, for example, a noise signal of constant level, which is amplified in the hearing aid amplifier. Now the setting is changed with the setting element 16 until the hearing-impaired person feels a comfortable volume. The sound pressure level that occurs in this case is measured with the measuring and / or testing device 26 and displayed by the display device 28. The measurement is then repeated with another hearing device from another manufacturer, the adjusting element 16 of the hearing device being adjusted until the same measured value as on the first hearing device appears on the display device 28.

With a voice test after each measurement, the hearing care professional can determine how high the percentage of speech intelligibility is with each individual device and ultimately decide which device is best suited for the hearing impaired.

The measuring. and / or test sound conductor 17 has a T-shape in FIG. 1. It can also have a shape that deviates from the T shape, for example a Y shape. The measuring and / or test sound conductor 17 preferably consists of an elastic plastic, as a result of which the ear hook 12, the socket 24 of the microphone 25 and the hearing tube 21 can be connected to the sound conductor in a particularly simple manner. However, it may also be expedient to manufacture the sound conductor from a rigid, preferably metallic, material; then it is advantageous if the ends of the sound conductor are provided with elastic sleeves for attaching the ear hook, the microphone connector and the hearing tube.

The sound source 29 can also emit tones of discrete frequency or amplitude instead of a noise signal. For example, if the tones are pure sine tones, then the quality of the hearing aid amplifier can be checked by means of an oscilloscope 31 (FIG. 1) which is connected in parallel to the input of the electrical display device 28. The outlet 20 of the measuring and / or test sound conductor 17, which is designed as a socket, can be omitted if the wall thickness of a tubular sound conductor 32 (top right in FIG. 1) is such that an opening 33 in the sound conductor securely accommodates the socket 24 of the microphone 25 can. In this manner, the measuring and / or testing device affects the durch'den O hrbügel, the measuring and / or Prüfschalleiter, the hearing tube, the ear tip and the ear canal of the hearing impaired resonance space formed at least.

In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 1, the hearing device is a BTE device. However, the invention can also be used with the same advantage in the case of hearing glasses, the input of the measuring and / or test sound conductor 17 having to be connected to the sound outlet opening which is usually formed by a socket of the hearing glasses bracket. 2 shows an exemplary embodiment which enables the application of the invention to hearing aids in the form of so-called pocket devices. In this case, an earmold 34, onto which an earphone 35 of the pocket device is snapped, contains, in addition to a through bore 36, a further bore 37 which branches off from the through bore 36 and ends on the outside of the earmold. The microphone 25 (FIG. 1) is then connected to the sound outlet opening 38 of the further bore 37, for example via a hose. If the earmold 34 is to be used by the hearing impaired later, the sound outlet opening 38 must be closed.

An alternative to the exemplary embodiment in FIG. 2 is shown in FIG. 2a. In this example, the earmold 39 remains unchanged, that is, it contains no further bore (37, FIG. 2). For this purpose, an adapter 4'1 is inserted into a recess 40, into which a pushbutton of the receiver 35 otherwise engages, which contains a bore 42 which ends in a further recess 43 for receiving the receiver pushbutton. A further bore 44 branches off from the bore 42 and is dimensioned at its exit point in such a way that it can accommodate the microphone connector 24 (FIG. 1).

The invention can also be applied to hearing aids to be worn in the ear. Such an ITE hearing aid 46 is shown in FIG. 3; here the sound emitted by a microphone 47 is conducted into the ear via a sound channel 48. A further sound channel 49 branches off from this sound channel and ends on the flat outside 50 of the ITE device. In the case of an ITE device as well, the further bore 41 can be closed after the measurement has ended, for example by means of a stopper.
