Definitions
- the invention relates to a precision guide for electrodes for a multiple electrode writing head in a metal paper printer.
- Electrode print heads for metal paper printers are known in various designs. They have the task of ensuring a certain mutual distance between the electrodes and - provided that problems with abrasion of the electrodes have to be taken into account - provide a way to track the electrodes.
- the precision guide 1 consists of three main parts: a guide part 2, a cover 3 and a flexible holding tube 5 running in a recess 4 of the cover 3. Furthermore, it can be seen from Fig. 1 that the Guide part 2 is provided with a number of adjacent guide grooves 6, in which the electrodes 7 run. For a clearer representation, some of these guide grooves are shown without associated electrodes.
- the cover 3 and the guide part 2 are chamfered towards the writing side (8, 9).
- the resulting actual mouthpiece 10 of this precision guide has a design which accommodates the writing process, that is to say it is slightly rounded both in the writing direction (direction of the double arrow 11) and perpendicularly to it (direction of the double arrow 12), in order to ensure perfect sliding and fixing To prevent writing residues and dirt.
- Both parts, both the cover 3 and the guide part 2 are fixed in their outer position by appropriate stops and supports (not shown).
- the cover 3 can be fixed on the guide part 2 by simple locking screws which act on this cover. Other fixing and fastening options are conceivable.
- This precision guide can be used in particular in a device for tracking electrodes, as described in German patent application P 27 58 150.6.
- the electrodes running in the grooves 6 can be tracked in the direction of the arrow 13 indicated by the dashed line in the event of corresponding wear.
- the device for tracking these electrodes is not the subject of the present invention, it is therefore not described in more detail.
- a flexible holding tube 5 is provided which runs in a recess 4 of the cover.
- This recess 4 is preferably of a prismatic shape; it is transverse to the direction of the electrodes.
- This Teflon tube has such a dimensioning that it is deformed when the precision guide is assembled at points A, B and C (see sectional view in FIG. 3), in such a way that the lower part of the Teflon tube (deformation area C) on the acts in the guide groove 6 extending electrode 7 and holds it in a fixed position without lateral freedom of movement (Fig. 2). This ensures that the electrodes 7 are guided in the individual grooves 6 without lateral freedom of movement.
- the flexible holding tube which is preferably made of Teflon, has the property that it is possible to track the electrodes in the assembled state of the precision guide.
- the reason for this is the corresponding surface properties of the Teflon tube (sliding friction).
- Guide part 2 and cover 3 must be made of a non-conductive material for understandable reasons so that the individual electrodes remain isolated from each other. Ceramic is preferably used for such a material, but solutions are also conceivable in which electrically conductive metals are rendered non-conductive by appropriate surface treatment in the area of their surface.
- FIG. 2 shows an enlarged partial sectional view of the precision guide according to FIG. 1 according to section line X X. The position of the individual electrodes 7 within their guide grooves 6 can be seen from this illustration. These guide grooves have a simple triangular shape. It it can be seen how the Teflon tube 5 is pressed slightly into these grooves and touches the electrodes 7 in the upper part and thereby fixes their position within the grooves.

Description
The invention relates to a precision guide for electrodes for a multiple electrode writing head in a metal paper printer.
Multiple electrode print heads for metal paper printers are known in various designs. They have the task of ensuring a certain mutual distance between the electrodes and - provided that problems with abrasion of the electrodes have to be taken into account - provide a way to track the electrodes.
So wurde z. B. vorgeschlagen (Deutsches Aktenzeichen:
- P 26 52 033.2) to design the print head by a number of glass tubes, in each of which an electrode is guided. The entirety of these guide glass tubes is cast in a block made of plastic. Such an electrode guide is characterized by the disadvantage of expensive manufacturing costs and complicated insertion of the electrodes into the individual glass tube guides.
An arrangement is described in US Pat. No. 2,718,450 in which pens which are guided in grooves are pivoted against a drive rubber roller. In such a position, the rubber roller forms a kind of stop, and it also has such a frictional contact with the pens that it pushes these pens into the grooves during a rotary drive movement. This arrangement is unsuitable for precision guides, which are required for printers of the highest print resolution. Deflection of the rubber roller would result in an uneven guidance of the electrodes and an uneven feed of them. In addition, the point of contact of the pens to the rubber roller is from the outlet put the pins out of the groove guide too big for one to ensure exact mutual spacing of the pens - if they should have a small diameter. Otherwise, the given construction cannot be a precision guide, since the pens only experience an imprecise groove guide due to the tangential support of the pens on a roller guiding the recording medium.
It is an object of the invention to provide a precision electrode guide which is simple and inexpensive to manufacture and which is easy to insert the electrodes into their corresponding guides.
This object of the invention is advantageously achieved by you: the measures mentioned in the characterizing part of the claim.
Advantageous developments of the invention can be found in the subclaims. An embodiment of the inven tion is shown in the drawings and will be described in the following.

- 1 is a schematic perspective view of the precision guide,
- 2 is an enlarged partial sectional view of the precision guide of FIG. 1 along section line XX,
- Fig. 3 is an enlarged sectional view of the precision guide along the cutting line to show the position of an electrode in connection with a tubular holding part running transversely to it.
From Fig. 1 it can be seen that the precision guide 1 consists of three main parts: a guide part 2, a
In addition, the flexible holding tube, which is preferably made of Teflon, has the property that it is possible to track the electrodes in the assembled state of the precision guide. The reason for this is the corresponding surface properties of the Teflon tube (sliding friction). Guide part 2 and
Models of these precision guides were built and successfully tested. It has been found that they are particularly useful in metal paper printers with high print resolution, i.e. that is, to be used advantageously for very thin electrodes. According to the foregoing, it goes without saying that for such precision guides in order to maintain an exact mutual electrode spacing, the distance between the exit point of the electrodes from the write head and the contact point of the electrodes with the Teflon tube must be very small. The manufacturing costs of the electrode guide described are only a fraction of the costs to be expended for conventional write heads and the effort to thread the individual electrodes into the guides is much less than with conventional write heads. The reason for this lies in the multi-part construction of this precision guide, further tests have shown that the quality of writing when using precision guides according to the invention does not suffer in comparison with conventional writing heads.
